Yesdersay I finished reading Eric Clapton's recently published autobiography (which I highly recommend to anyone interested in the music of E.C.) and I thought that I would start a thread in which everyone could list some of their favorite Clapton albums. This can include his work in the 1960's with Cream to his solo albums. Even though I tend to keep Grestest Hits albums off my lists, everyone is welcome to include those too.
mine:
1. Layla-Derek and the Dominos (1971)
2. Disraeli Gears- Cream (1967)
3. 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974)
4. Slowhand (1977)
5. Wheels of Fire- Cream (1968)
6. Pilgrim (1998)
7. Journeyman (1989)
8. Fresh Cream- Cream (1966)
9. Back Home (2005)
10. Unplugged (1992)

I've never really been a big Clapton fan, blues-flavored rock just isn't really my thing, but I do think if I was to invest in one of his studio albums, I think Slowhand would definately be the choice. I like Cocaine, Wonderful Tonight and Lay Down Sally.

I've never listened to a full length Clapton album, but I do like these songs a lot:
Layla (Derek & the Dominos version)
Lay Down Sally (love the guitar parts!)
Wonderful Tonight
Tears In Heaven
I Shot the Sheriff

Those are all great songs, Monika. :)
I'm a really big Clapton fan. I love pretty much everything he's done. Along with Jimmy Page and Eddie Van Halen he is my favorite rock guitarist. He's also a great singer and songwriter. The Derek and the Dominos version of "Layla", is his greatest song. He sang that song with such raw emotion and passion.

That is a great album, for sure. What really surprises me though about that album, or more specifically the song "Wonderful Tonight", is that when it was released as a single in 1977 it didn't do all that well. I think it only reached something like #16 on the charts. Hard to believe for a song that has become such a classic.
