Dictional Super Bowls/World Series/sports stars in sitcoms

I might not have all my facts straight, but once, Ted Baxter on MTM kept predicting, I think it was the Vikings, because they had the coolest helmets/uniforms (Something which caused me to root for a team, too, but I was like 5-6 then so it made sense :-) They went allt he way to the Super Bowl, but lost.

Now, that happened 3 of 4 years during MTM's 7-year run, so that may actually be a case of using real history, depending on when that episode aired.

But, are there any shows that invented sporting events for their universe, so that the winners, or even just players, were different than in ours?

A few off the top of my head:

Sam "Mayday" Malone, an obvious one. (When I wrote my fanfic "Choices" on fanfiction.net, I had him start drinking heavily after he caused the Red Sox to blow a lead in September, 1974, with a few losses; such a blown lead happened in real life. It's not said how much he pitched, but IIRC his first game was 1973, so it's quite plausible.)

Was Coach ever a big leaguer on "Cheers," or was he just in the minors before he became a coach?

Steve Tanner on "FUll House" had a baseball scholarship to Stanford; he had to be pretty good to do *that*, though that doesn't mean he made the majors, though the Chronology has him doing it for long-suffering Cub fans :-)

Not a sitcom IMHO (I see it as a dramedy) but listed as one on this site, but "The Love Boat" had an episode where a quarterback is introduced and someone says he had four Super Bowl rings. (Backup for the Sttlers in that TL, maybe? I dont' recall of he was a starter.)

I know a few movies have done this (I think first of the Cubs winning in 2015 in "Back to the Future" but am not sure if other TV shows have done this much.

On The Wonder Years in the episode where Kevin got his driver's license, he lamented the fact he would be the first all-pro quarterback to ride a bicycle to the Super Bowl after chickening out and running away from his road test. Does that count?

One thing i can answer: Coach was never a major league player, he spent his entire career in the minor leagues, and only getting "the call up" after hed begun his coaching career in the minors.

On What's Happening, the three guys and an additional character (he played the brother-in-law) were watching a football game where the Oakland Raiders played against Tampa Bay. What made the scene funny is that the brother-in-law had placed a large bet that Tampa Bay would win, even though he was certain Oakland would win, according to Oakland's previous wins. He betted on what he was told was a "system". He later learned the system was which team had the better helmets. :rofl: The final score Oakland- 64 Tampa Bay-0...:rofl: He lost $500.

In the final episode of Coach at the end you hear a narrator say that after Hayden retired back to his Minnesota cabin, Dauber (or was it Luther?) won a Super Bowl ring or two with the Orlando Breakers.
