I'm currently reading Eric Clapton's wonderful autobiography and the section of the book that so far I have enjoyed most was the chapters covering the three years Clapton played with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker in the power trio Cream. I think that Clapton did some of his best work during his Cream days with such songs as "Crossroads", "Spoonful", "I Feel Free" and "Badge". However, Cream never seems to be one of those bands from the 60's that people talk about like the Beatles or the Doors. Does anyone else here like Cream besides me?

Clapton was so great in Cream back in those days. Bands like that were so committed to musical quality. For me, the Cream era represents the best I've heard Clapton, but that's probably because they were laying the groundwork for heavy metal. I think Tony Iommi in Black Sabbath borrowed from the song "Spoonful" in one of the guitar jams in the song "Warning", it sounds like it anyway. Cream did so much in just about two or three years that was amazing.
