Sylvester Stallone blames his decision to make poorly received sequels Rambo III and Rocky V on losing touch with reality after becoming a Hollywood superstar. The 61-year-old slowly fell from the action A-list after releasing a succession of formulaic movies - a situation Stallone is now rectifying with last year's Rocky Balboa, the sixth film in that franchise, and upcoming third sequel to Rambo.

However the actor is convinced his superstar status in the 1980s had a lot to do with the increasingly preposterous films he was making.

He says, "When you're kind of a nondescript, unknown, inconsequential actor and all of a sudden you're famous, it's very easy to lose touch there. You keep pushing the envelope, but there is a limit, and the audience retreats."
