Very early numbers:

Overnight rating of a 5.8/8 for #3 in its slot, but building again on HIMYM's 5.5/8. Let's see what the fast nationals say at noon and the final numbers possibly later in the day,

The growth is declining each week, which is not good, but at least it is still growing a bit from the lead-in.

Fast national HH numbers:
How I Met Your Mother 5.2/8 (#3)
The Big Bang Theory 5.4/8 (#3)

Final numbers later today, hopefully when they come out the growth is still there in viewers and 18-49, because it could be tied or very close to it when they come out.

It was staying really steady there for awhile, and didn't even grow in viewers last week than the week before? Didn't drop that much, but it still dropped. I thought it was a very funny episode, and I loveds eeing Laurie Metcalfe . . . she pretty much WAS this episode.

Laurie Metcalf did an excellent job. If you haven't seen her episodes last season on Desperate Housewives, then you should, because that was the best performance she has ever done, I think...better than Roseanne even.

Final numbers:
5.2/8, 7.94 million, 3.1/8 18-49

So the 3.1/8 18-49 was the same as HIMYM. Everything else was a minor build on HIMYM.

Wow, quite a big drop this week. I thought this show already evened out, but looks like it isn't quite finished doing that yet. It's too bad, because Laurie carried this episode along. Makes me wonder why there was such a big drop this week. maybe because this episode really didn't focus on the whole Penny/Leonard relationship?

I take it your a fan of Laurie? I was always a fan of her . . . not much before Roseanne, but I still liked her work. She did a terrific job in this episode, no doubt . . . I hope she'll stick around, because IMO she could add a lot to Sheldon's character.

Me and Irene were just discussing this in a different thread. We both hate DH, so didn't bother to see Laurie's work in that show. Now that you mention how good it was, I wish I could have seen her performance. She is such a brilliant actress, and can make the simplest role and the simplest lines the funniest parts of an entire show. She did it in Roseanne, she did it here.

Well, here is some hope as to why it dropped from week 3 to 4, but oddly did not drop much from week 2 to 3. First of all, the Atlanta market was showing the NFL football game, and all CBS shows lost about 200,000 viewers because of that. Also, Prison Break was not on because FOX carried baseball, and it looks like a lot of the Prison Break viewers watched Chuck. We have to hope when you add in the Atlanta viewers, and hopefully a lot of sitcom fans watched baseball, so hopefully it will go back up next week. That is the hopeful viewpoint...

But that's just the Atlanta market . . . a small portion of the total audience, which shouldn't have a major effect. And, I don't see why Prison Break fans would watch Chuck. They could have either not watched at all, watched the NFL game, or lost either ABC or CBS.

Well, all I can give you is the take on this in most programming forums. It did lose about 200,000 viewers from Atlanta, because in the fast nationals the Atlanta market was included, and when they did the finals they subtract Atlanta because it was a football game. For whatever strange reason Chuck got a huge bump this week when Prison Break was off, and the CBS sitcoms did not. HIMYM in the same hour also had its season lowest viewers, and that is usually pretty stable so something made the ratings suddenly go down. I guess this week will tell us a lot.

You're right . . . this week will definitely tell us a lot. Do you know what Monday's episode is about?

Leslie's Sara Gilbert, right? That'll be fun to see then.

Yes, Leslie is Sara Gilbert. I think we will be seeing more and more of her in upcoming episodes.

Good to hear. She had only a few lines in her first episode. Hopefully we'll see more of her Monday night.
