Frank Sinatra was also called "Chairman of the Board". The late Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees always refered to himself as "Man in the Middle" - at times caught between his more prolific brothers, Barry and Robin. He even wrote and performed a song by that title of what would turn out to be the last Bee Gees studio album, This Is Where I Came In.

Paul McCartney was also known as "the cute Beatle", while George Harrison was known as "the quiet Beatle". David Lee Roth has been referred to as "Diamond Dave". Johnny Cash became well-known as the "Man in Black".

The Tempations were well-known for their nicknames: David Ruffin was "Ruff", Eddie Kendricks was "Cornbread" (or sometimes just "Corn"), Otis Williams was "O" and Melvin Franklin was "Blue". Florence Ballard of The Supremes was called "Flo" and "Blondie". William Robinson is known the world over as "Smokey".
