So-Called Happiness

Starring Edie Falco as Joy Bernhardt, a high-powered advertising executive for a large New York corporation. Joy is a long-time divorced, single mother of one teenage daughter, Tiffany Bernhardt (Hayden Panettiere). Tiffany is a senior in high school, who is one of the popular girls and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. Tiffany is very much interested in fashion, hair, make-up, gossip, boys, shopping, money, her friends, sex, music, and boys again. For the past six months, Joy has been dating a younger man, Andrew Nolan (Justin Chambers), who is a former underwear model-turned-actor. Andrew's acting career was only short-lived after starring in two low-budget films and a handful of commericals for cologne. Tiffany isn't too fond of Joy dating Andrew, but is happy to see her mom happy though. Joy and Andrew decide to move in together, which causes an uproar between Tiffany and Joy. Out of spite, Tiffany begins to date an older man--her Economics teacher, Mr. Jake Madsen (Brian Austin Green). Jake at first declines Tiffany's offer, until she ends up seducing him into her "sweet deal" to get back at her mom. Tiffany informs Joy that as long as she and Andrew are still dating, she will continue seeing Jake. Tiffany's equally-naive and gorgeous best friend, Kendra Carlisle (Lyndsy Foncea) supports Tiffany and her decision to "date" their hunky teacher in effort to get Joy and Andrew to split.
