Is Roseanne's kitchen the only realistic sitcom kitchen?

The props around the kitchen seem realistic and especially in their pantry/cupboard (check out that disgusting gallon jar of pickled eggs). The Conners weren't messy, but they had kitchen stuff around like our family had. They used their kitchen for homework, projects, converstations and meals. It was also a main entrance to the house.

A lot of sitcoms try to make their kitchen seem real by covering the refrigerator with colorful artwork and having placemats on the table. Sometimes they don't even have enough chairs as in the Golden Girls. The Friends kitchen was strange: see-through cupboards that made it look cluttered, and I don't think they ever cooked.

On Roseanne they really incorporated the kitchen into the script and storyline. The kitchen is the central gathering place of many families and the writers recognized that fact.

We also saw the "fourth wall" of Roseanne's kitchen in some episodes so i'd say it is quite realistic, in most programmes its very rare that you see a fourth wall of the home/set.

Madame you are right. It was very realistic. You see too many sitcoms where everything is neatly arranged, not a bit of dust or crumb, no dirty dishes, etc. In Roseanne's kitchen you saw it clean, you saw it dirty, you saw conversations take place in there, you saw the refrigerator with all the school projects on there, you seen cooking taking place, you saw the microwave being used, you seen dishes being washed (by Dan as well), etc.

The open pantry was a bit annoying, but it does look like what it is supposed to look like inside.

A good example of a kitchen that was too damn perfect was the Cosby Show kitchen. Even when there was some cooking going on, it was spotless. Damn, no way! Anyone who has ever cooked knows you will have some clutter going on. Even as I cook, I am washing things such as a measuring cup, a mixing bowl, etc. The top of the stove gets somewhat messy depending on what I cook. If I have a sauce simmering, my stove will be covered in little spots.
