Solomon that was great especially the part about Mike the bartender's favorites. That had me laughing. I don't know why these best of DVDS are being released anyway. They can't be for the true fans who have or are in the process of getting the season set DVDS. It really is a useless release. I just hope some other company gets the Ropers and TAC released soon.

Exactly, we TC fans want the Next DVD release to be on the spinoffs not some put together best moments crap they we already have by having the show complete on DVD

I agree its a shame we don't have the Ropers and Three's a Crowd, but the new Best of DVDs aren't for "us" - they're for casual watchers who have no interest in buying full sets of Three's Company ... they're not sympathy DVDs.

I agree. I mean, one can be a casual fan of a show, but I don't see those kind of people spending $$$ on a show that they casually like. And if one is wanting the BEST OF anything, then BUY THE WHOLE SERIES.

The only time BEST OF anything is worth buying, is music.
It is like when I would buy CD's of my fave old school groups. I would buy the BEST OF ________. That way I get the best and my fave songs.

I don't see the point in me buying those 'best-of' sets when I already have the complete series on DVD. I say bring on the spin-offs. I do remember watching 'Three's A Crowd' when it originally ran on ABC and I only saw a couple of 'The Ropers' episodes.

A more creative DVD release would be a NEW Behind the Scenes Story that includes the Other Actors and not just Suzanne Somers like it was on the THS. They could also discuss why the Zoo was chosen for the season 6 opening credits, and why the Pier was selected for season 4 and Beach for season 1 to 3.

Why bother getting upset over this? Anchor Bay/Starz Home Entertainment does not have the rights to the Three's Company spin-offs, so they cannot release them no matter how much you rant and rave. And they must have some idea that the Best Of sets will sell or else they would not release them (nor would we have, what, a dozen Best Of sets for Friends).

I can understand being upset because a show you really want to see is not yet on DVD. But this is something else.

Let me just say I'm not really ranting, it's more like me poking fun at things each week I think is kind of silly. And if Anchor Bay doesn't have the rights then they should stop with these dumb releases since the best moments of Jack and Janet can be seen on the DVD's we already have. So not upset at all, just confused about TONS of things that are improperly Done and that's when Solomon pokes Fun.

Not that I would buy it, but a Best of Felipe or Angelino would actually be creative since they were such minor characters. Or the Most Entertaining Guest Stars DVD. That would show me that someone actually put some thought into the release of the DVD. When is Anchor Bay going to throw us TC fans a Entertainment CURVE BALL???-lol

I e-mailed anchorbay about the spin-offs and I was told they don't own the rights. How about acquiring them then? Or find out who does own the rights and get them to release the spin-offs for us. I have all the season sets and have absolutely no interest in buying the same episodes again. It's like buying 2 copies of the same CD.

Raisingdad2004
08-20-2007, 03:33 PM
I'd argue its more like buying the album and the single CD. The best ofs aren't meant for people who bought the season sets, they are for a different market ... the less interested, less likely to spend much money on the show, buyer.

Anchor Bay doesn't want to obtain them from DLT because of the high music cost. DLT is shopping both series to other DVD companies right now. S'more Entertainment is really interesting. Hopefully they can afford it.

Music clearance is done on nearly every show for DVD. Anchor Bay feels it would cost them too much money for it, and they would lose money if the spin-offs bomb on DVD.

And they really think Jack and Janet Favorites won;t bomb?? But then again it is a lazy release abd nuch cheaper so it's not the same as a full season of the Ropers and Three' a Crowd

Solomon, they already paid for the Three's Company rights. Of course the series did well for them, so those best of sets didn't cost them anything really. It was win-win situation for them to make more bucks. If they bombed, they bombed, they didn't lose any money because they paid for Three's Company already for the season sets.

I think it's stupid for AB not to atleast take a chance on Three's a Crowd since that is basically season 9 of Three's Company. Why do they think it will bomb if Jack tripper is involved? Not the Ropers I can understand being risky to release

I agree with most of you, I think best of sets are a waste of time for the most part. I mean when a show is already complete on dvd, it's kinda stupid to release best of sets. I've bought a few best of dvds like Chico and the Man, Alice and Welcome Back Kotter and that was only because none of those shows were available in season sets at the time and I figured they'd never come out and I really wanted to see those shows. I love TC, it's my favorite show, but I'd never consider buying the best of Jack or Janet or heck, even Felipe if that ever came out.

1. I will find out what happened to the TAG SCENE from Ralph's Rival
2. Have the Ropers on DVD

I wonder if there are any TC scripts available? I mean if someone had the original script for "Ralph's Rival" they could find out if that episode had a tag scene or not. That would probably be the best way since no one seems to have the ABC version of that episode on tape or DVD.
