View Full Version : Besides Married With Children and Three's Company, what other TV shows made negative

references to GOING TO THE DENTIST? I just always found it funny that on certain shows, going to the dentist was made out to be a horrible experience. On Three's Company, Jack had a toothche and didn't want to go to the Dentist and Al Bundy was afriad to go also.

My mom explained that going to the dentist years ago was a HORRIBLE experience which is why it was probably in the script that way

Fred had a pretty bad experience at the dentist on Sanford & Son, if I remember correctly.

I think on Perfect Strangers they had that. Balki was hilarious inside! The episode was called "Tooth or Consequences."

Laverne & Shirley.

Laverne went to Shirley's cousin who was a novice and very nervous. :lol: Bad enough she was afraid of going to the dentist, then she had to visit one who was "fresh". :rofl:

I was watching Hangin With Mr. cooper Tonight and Geneva was afraid to go to the Dentist because of a tooth ache

At first he didn't want to go to the Dentist, remember he wore the bunny ears. At Lamont's insistance Fred went, but he wanted a White Dentist.

There was also Beaver on "Leave it to Beaver"... very scared to go to the dentist.

And Kevin Arnold from "The Wonder Years" had no problem going to the dentist as a kid (thanks to a cute dental hygienist), but was very scared to go back when he got his first cavity.

once on THE ALAN ALDA SHOW-excuse me; I mean one of the later episodes of MASH; Charles had a toothache and refused to go to the dentist.

(I just learned another nickname for those later episodes-the shows "PREACHY MESSAGE ERA")
