They just put Boy Meets World back on at 3-4 and now its not going to be on there at all. That sucks. I would rather watch that than Sister, Sister.
At least Full House, Family Matters and Step by Step are staying on.:)

I'm not!

This sucks that Boy Meets World is gone. Has the show expired from ABCFAMILY?

Last year, there were some minor changes in September. They made a better/updated schedule in October. I hope that happens again. BRING BACK EVERWOOD!!!

I'm glad Full House is getting another airing, but I like Boy Meets World, I wonder why it's being taken off the schedule completely. Maybe it'll return, who knows. I'm still surprised Step By Step has retained it's timeslot for so long.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the only show I've been watching regularly on ABC Family all summer! I wonder why they're taking it off the lineup so abruptly. Here, it's getting some of the best slots on the lineup, and now it isn't airing on the network ata ll. Maybe they're running low on airplays, possbily. I noticed in their schedule, they're airing the seventh season, then they're jumping immediately to the second season.

That's too bad about Boy Meets World, although I hardly ever watch it anymore. At least it's still a good schedule.

I'm hoping they still have rights to it. Like I said before, they have been skipping a lot of episodes, so maybe low airplays has something to do with it.

I'm really glad Sabrina The Teenage Witch is still on. I'm still in the process of re-visiting the show, and I'm glad Gilmore Girls is still on too. I've really been loving that show lately! And yes, I hope they please bring back Everwood!!!

They seem to air Full House at the best daytime slots possbie. The show cannot possibly do that well in ratings? If anything they could give us at least 1 half hour to air Boy Meets World, even if it is weekends only.

Gilmore Girls is their highest rated show, and has been for years. I think the Stars Hollow clan is safe for a while.

And they really need to bring back Everwood, so I can finish recording them all, LOL.

I'm surprised you haven't taped Family matters yet. It's bee on for years, I taped it awhile ago. Although, I barely use the tapes, because the show has never been off the schedule since it debuted on the network.

BMW is still on Disney, but I hardly watch Disney, and it's hard to find. I do know that the show airs every weekday morning at 11am ET. I'm not sure how long that's going to last, but I've been watching it then now for awhile.

Obviously, Disney believes that 4 year olds are up at 2 in the morning watching Handy Mandy with their stuffed gorillas and 2-liter coke-LOL

Why can't they do something like Disney@Nite with shows aimed at adults (like classic Disney)? I guess the cable networks believe that they have outgrown the shows of their youth and there's no market for them. At least Nick airs stuff aimed at adults at night (mostly Fresh Prince)

7th Heaven must have been something with airplays, but anyways, I'm glad to see it back on. With all this going on, I guess we have a very small chance of seeing BMW back on the schedule. I guess I just have to accept the fact that ABC Family has moved on from the show.

That's a lot of Sister Sister this fall. It's on ABC Family mornings and WGN afternoons. And ouf course, Family Matters is the only show that hasn't made a move. it's always been like that as far as I can remember. I think moving Sabrina to 2pm was a bad move. The show is similar to BMW - it brings in youth appeal. So, at 2pm, most kids are still in school.

I think they lost rights to Boy Meets World.

JulieSomoski

I think they lost rights to Boy Meets World.

Does it have anything to do with Buena Vista/Disney also losing the rights to BMW? I knew they just lost the DVD rights, but maybe it's syndication and cable rights, too. And, since Buena Vista owns ABC Family, that's probably the reason.

Aren't some of these movies (for example It, Boogeyman) a bit um, scary and mature for the ABC Family audience? isn't theri target audience like 10 and 11 year olds?

Pavan

The target for them is the family audience. Anywhere from 12-49 really. They don't air the animation anymore in the morning, so they are a bit older. Shows past 8pm are a bit more edgier than the daytime. Boogeyman is 12 midnight, so the older audience will only watch that.

You know the routine - every few months, ABC Family tries a different show at 2 PM. It doesn't work there as well as Step by Step. They switch the schedule back. Lather, Rinse, Repeat 3 months later.

agreed. i think they have a good mix of movies this year, yeah they have some pretty scary ones but they also have some good ones for families and younger kids like E.T. and casper. plus i think the original movie will be more funny than scary...

IMO, I'd say anything past 7pm is edgier, since GFL airs at 7, and it is a pretty racy show at times. I'm surprised AFV is airing so late. It's definitely a family show, a should be airing anywhere from 4-6pm, IMO.

I was so glad when I heard they were getting rid of the Jetix block. It always annoyed me that they were airing kids programming at 7am.

I watched the entire 7th Heaven marathon and it was great. However I think ABCFamily needs to advertise their daytime lineup more and not focus on just a few shows. There were tons of ads for America's Funniest Home Videos, Lincoln Heights, Meet the Parents, and the 13 days of Halloween, and short ads for 7th Heaven. But there were no ads whatsoever for 8 Simple Rules, Gilmore Girls, Full House, Sabrina, Family Matters, Step by Step, Sister Sister, and Grounded for Life.

This hasn't been brought up in awhile. You're right, though. They place all their advertisement on primetime. I don't blame them, because that's really when the ratings count the most, but why not show some advertisement for daytime? When they brought Sister Sister at 2pm, they gave it no advertisement at all, and they wonder why it did poorly.

Same with The Hogan Family. Both times.

But Sister Sister was actually placed in a good slot: 2pm, weekday afternoons, in the summer. Hogan Family, on the other hand, came, was placed at 8am, in the fall (I believe.). It just wasn't the best slot. Sister Sister has a real shot to do well, and it's ABC Family's fault. On the other hand, shows like Family Matters, Boy Meets World, and Step by Step were all advertised when they first came. But, they also all debuted in primetime.

I believe it expired.
If that is the reason, it's kind of odd. ABCFAMILY usually has their shows under contract for a long time. Step By Step has been there since 2001! I don't see why they didn't renew Boy Meets World, or why they didn't have a long term contract for it in the first place....I hope it goes to Nick at Nite then.

Maybe they decided before it expired that they were not going to renew the contract because they wanted to try out some other shows or maybe they were not satisfied with it's ratings.

I was thinking the same thing. Boy Meets World came in 2004 I believe, which is a really short contract for ABC Family. I always thought it did pretty well . . . better than Step by Step, at least, which they obviously renewed. I know BV was losing the DVD rights to Boy Meets World, did it also include cable rights?

maybe it's as simple as ratings not be able to justify the cost to renew? think about it, BMW is likely more expensive for ABC Family to keep than Step By Step and so SBS can get lower ratings but get renewed because the cost for the contract is less whereas BMW costs more for ABC Family so if it's ratings aren't good they can't justify the cost to keep it. but it's just a theory.

But why would Boy meets World be more expensive than Step by Step? Considering Step by Step, Family Matters, and Boy Meets World were all TGIF shows their entire runs, they should be the same price to renew. Full House, on the other hand, was a bigger-budget show originally, and was much more popular, so it should be the most expensive.

You'd think Boy Meets World would do better than Step by Step anyways. Step by Step has been getting moved from slot to slot fpr the past year or so, while Boy Meets World's only move was to 8am for awhile, and to 2pm, which is about as good as 3pm.

Boy Meets World has been on longer than 2004. ABC Family shared it with their sister station Disney Channel, which has been airing the show since 2000. 7 year deal is pretty long. Notice, both channels stopped airing it at the same time.

Like Pavan said, Boy Meets World has been on The Disney Channel since 2000 (and I believe with ABCFAMILY since Spring 2005). And I think it started in local syndication after it's 4th season, in 1997.

I don't think Step By Step was ever syndicated before ABCFAMILY got the reruns. I only remember CBS aired the show on weekend afternoons for a short while, back when it was still on the air. I was very surprised my WB/WPIX network didn't pick the reruns up in the 1990's.

The TBA on that date will be Christmas related, just don't know what yet.

Step by Step has been on ABC Family the longest, I'd pretty sure. They started airing it in like 2001. Then Family Matters came a few years later. The first time I remember watching Boy Meets World on ABC Family, it was a New Years marathon of the show, I believe in either 2004 or 2005. Before that, I don't remember it on the network at all.

Anyways, it's too bad they didn't renew it. I'd much rather BMW over SBS, FM, StTW, or SS anyday. You'd think it would do pretty well at 3pm, with that afterschool audience. Looks like it didn't.

We all know Step by Step is good at replacing. If they stick with the afternoon TGIF sitcom block through 2010, I'm sure it'll come back. When does it air right now? I know it was airing at like 9am . . . is it still there? not a great slot right now . . . Sabrina replaced it at 2pm. It still makes me wonder why Boy meets World wasn't renewed. They have all the TGIF sitcoms (Family Matters, Step by Step, Sabrina, 8 Simple Rules, Sister Sister) and Boy Meets World was the only one to be on TGIF it's entire run.

I don't think Boy Meets World will be coming back to ABCFAMILY....Mainly because deep down I'm hoping Nick at Nite is working on getting the rights to it. :)

And I have a feeling Step By Step will be done on ABCFAMILY, and make it's way to Nick at Nite in (or even before) 2010. Once Family Matters becomes the biggest thing on there since The Fresh Prince, they'll want to get another show or 2 similar to it....Again, this is just me hoping....But I think I may be right. ;)

In the future, NAN may want to do what ABC Family did . . . pretty much recreate the entire TGIF lineup. Now, though, I'm not sure Family Matters wil be as big of a hit as we think. We all thought Home Improvement was gonna be the next big hit, but Pavan has already pointed out it's not doing the best . . . GL is actually doing better ( ). Family Matters may be the same way.

I'd love Boy Meets World and Step by Step to come to NAN, but I don't think they have a chance, IMO. Both would go great with Home Improvement and Family Matters, since they're all from the same era of television. All fingers crossed!
