Accidentally calling characters by their REAL names

Anyone know of instances where a TV character was accidentally addressed by their REAL-LIFE names on the set, and that goof made it to the final episode cut?

Those of us who are Brady Bunch fans know that, in one episode, Carol (Florence Henderson) calls Peter, "Chris" (as in Christopher Knight, Peter Brady's real name), and that Greg (Barry Williams) called Jan "Eve" (as in Eve Plumb, Jan Brady's real name).

The Brady Bunch wasn't the only show where this happened.

In the Little House On The Prairie episode from Season One, called "Town Party, Country Party", this happens in the first scene...

This is the episode in which Laura's friend at school, "Olga" (charmingly played by Kim Richards) is lame (due to one leg being shorter than the other). Charles fixes her a special shoe, and she ends up being able to run with all the other kids... a great, great episode.

Anyway, the episode starts out with several of the girls participating in a relay race at recess... it's Laura's team against Nellie's team... and while "Christy" (the pretty girl played by Tracey Savage) is taking her turn running to the base and back, one of the girls who's cheering them on (I'm not sure who, as there's a lot of chatter going on) yells, "Come on Tracey, run!", calling "Christy" by her real life name.

None of the characters in the race are named "Tracey" so this was just a mistake that was allowed to slip past the producers.

Just thought I'd point that out so that anyone who wants to find it can do so... it's very clear, I don't know why I never noticed it, but you can hear it just as "Christy" is running back and approaching the starting point. She has a big smile on her face, so I wonder if she noticed the goof when it happened.


Anyone know of other instances of this happening on other shows?

As it happened, this episode was aired earlier this week on TV Land, either Monday or Tuesday. I was flipping through channels and came across LHOTP ab. 15 minutes into the episode.

The "The Stand-in" episode of Sanford and Son. As Al enters the house, he calls Fred "Redd." Has anyone else noticed this?

On I Love Lucy, Desi Arnaz's character "Ricky" was called "Des" by another character.

I don't know if these would count; but once on MASH; Frank asked a soldier his name; and he replied "Maxwell, sir". The soldier was played by actor Jeff Maxwell; so I don't know if this was a goof or not.
Another time; in the episode "Bulletin Board" in the last scene everyone's in a mud puddle; and you can see something happening to Lorreta Swit. And, I read somewhere that; if you listen closely; you can hear Alan Alda saying to her "Lorretta, it's OK, it's OK!" (I've watched the show 3 times on DVD but I can't hear that, however).

That wasn't done by one of the regulars, was it?
My first guess would be that it might have been one of the guys in Ricky's/Desi's orchestra at the Tropicana... and maybe there was a lot of chatter going on, which is why it wasn't picked up on the final print...

Well, I found it... I googled "calling ricky ricardo desi onset blooper" and it looks like it actually happened at least THREE TIMES on the show...

But here they are:

In an episode called "The Diet", You can hear Desi’s pianist, Marco Rizo, refer to Ricky as Desi when he passes by.

And, in the episode entitled "The Passports", Pianist Marco Rizo once again calls Ricky, "Desi."

And in "Ricky Loses His Voice", when Ricky tells pianist Marco Rizo to "call Lucy and tell her I’ll be home right away" he slips and says "Okay, Des" instead of "Okay, Ricky."




This site also points out that in the California episode, "Bullfight Dance", "Notice that Ricky calls the pianist "Marco"; did the Ricky Ricardo Orchestra also come to California?"



But this site has a long list of facts about the show as well as numerous bloopers... just amazing.

e.g. I never knew that the two boys performing "Ragtime Cowboy Joe" with Lucy (in the episode "The Amateur Hour") are not only not twins, they aren't even related! I'd always assumed that they were twins. (This is the episode when Lucy offers to babysit for big bucks, unaware that the boys' mother snuck the other "twin" into the apartment when Lucy wasn't looking).

According to IMDB: Sammy Ogg played "twin" Jimmy Hudson, while David Stollery played "twin" Timmy Hudson.

In one of the earlier episodes of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman," Loretta Haggers (played by Mary Kay Place) was practicing her country-western singing act in her living room when the doorbell rang. As she went to answer the door, she was singing Patsy Cline's "I Fall to Pieces." She's singing and she (either Mary Kay or her in character as Loretta) flubs up a line of the song (instead of "Whenever you walk by," she says "Whenever you talk by"). She corrects herself by saying "It's walk, Mary Kay, it's walk."

It's very easy to hear and recognize. Anybody who has the DVD set should be able to pick it out easily.

Oh Hogan's Heroes, James Kinchloe - who clearly has the first name James in a couple other episodes at least - is called "Ivan" by a character in "The Prince from the Phone Company." However, it's an old friend from high school, and I've argued that it could be his middle name, because people went by middle names with very close friends in that era. So, technically, it might not be a goof. (I'd consider that an "explanable abberation," a goof that's not really a goof because there's a logical argument for it happening, but only in hindsight.)
