Brainy best friends Leonard (Johnny Galecki, right) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons, left), can tell you anything you want to know about quantum physics, but when it comes to dealing with everyday life here on earth, they're lost in the cosmos. Neither fully understands that scientific principles don't always apply in matters of the heart - until they meet their sexy new neighbor, Penny (Kaley Cuoco, center), a friendly screenwriter/waitress from the Midwest who also happens to be newly single. THE BIG BANG THEORY will premiere Sept. 24, Mondays, (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network
Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of "beautiful minds" that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow CalTech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love.

Yeah, it's great to see Kalye bounced back from 8 Simple Rules. And, it's good to see Johnny Galecki back on TV . . . I haven't seen him on TV since he did Roseanne.

Too many shows I want to watch in that timeslot. Why doesn't this show air at 9:30 after Two and a Half Men?

I want to watch this show, but everytime I get into a brand new show, it never lasts long. So I'm almost afraid to watch it, lol. I'm glad that Kaley is back on TV. She was great in "8 Simple Rules".

Prison Break, Chuck, Aliens in America, and The Big Bang Theory, not to mention Monday Night Football. What is a person to do?

Considering this show is from Chuck Lorre I would not worry too much about its longevity. Chuck Lorre does not have too many shows on his resume that have not lasted.
I also am delighted Kaley Cuoco is back in a sitcom. She was great in 8 Simple Rules. Sitcoms are her thing. She will be much better than in Charmed. :)

It really isn't a certainty it will last. The Class was the most talked about sitcom last year with a wonderful cast but it couldn't do too well in the ratings in the same exact slot. If Big Bang was after Two and a Half Men, I wouldn't be worried, but 8:30, yes I would be. It will have to be a self-starter to survive, because lead-in How I Met Your Mother is not a hit in the ratings, despite it being a decent series.

I think if the show does reasonably well it will be moved to 9:30 at midseason. Rules of Engagement is just mediocre, and Old Christine will be back to 8:30. Remember, this is Chuck Lorre and CBS owes a lot to him for giving them the # 1 sitcom. I don't think they just cancel his show without giving it a big chance.

Rules of Engagement did well in the 9:30 slot actually. That is why it is back and Christine is not until mid-season.

Yes, but it started slipping towards the end of the season, and actually was on the fence for renewal. I just think that this network does not cancel a Chuck Lorre show that quickly. I mean this man has basically the only super successful sitcom on the air right now, and a very successful resume. It would have to totally bomb to get canceled. If you watch carefully CBS is running promo after promo for this show. They just ran about 6 promos during the sitcoms on Monday night alone. They know the show is good. I think they at least give it a shot at 9:30 before canceling it.

I saw the pilot and maybe it's just me but I thought it to be the dullest "comedy" this year. (Besides "Cavemen" but that's a whole other story)
For all you fans, hope it lasts a long time but I won't be watching and I predict about 10 episodes.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I think you are wrong. I thought it was one of the funniest pilots I have seen in a long time. As mentioned created by Chuck Lorre and directed by James Burrows that is some pedigree.

I think it was a good pilot, when I compare it to shows the actually lasted or that I liked it was one of the better pilots, I can name a few shows whose pilot I find unbearble (Friends springs to mind). The episode wasn't great compared to regular episodes of other shows, but pilots are like that, they have to set everything up and all.
