Sunday, October 28, 2007
8pm to 10pm ET/PT
Join TV Land as we celebrate Halloween with a mini-marathon of its hit original series TV land’s Myths & Legends.

8p #001- The Ghost & Mrs. Muir
What former lover was the inspiration for Carly Simon's #1 hit, You're So Vain? Is that really the ghost of a nine-year-old boy seen through a window in the film Three Men and a Baby? Did the cast of Green Acres barbecue and eat the pig that played Arnold Ziffel?
8:30p #002 – Munchkins & Misbehavior
Was Barry Williams really high on the set of a 1973 episode of The Brady Bunch? Did famed TV chef Julia Child once drop a chicken, retrieve it, and advise her audience, “Remember, you’re alone in the kitchen?” Can the body of a suicidal munchkin be seen hanging from a tree in The Wizard of Oz?
9p #005 – Superstars & Sudden Deaths
Did Mama Cass of The Mamas and The Papas die when she choked on a ham sandwich? Did a punch in the stomach kill magician Harry Houdini? Did Superman George Reeves really leap from a tall building to his death?
9:30p #006 – Graves, Gilligans & Groucho
Is there really a Poltergeist curse? What sexual innuendo did Groucho Marx get away with on You Bet Your Life? Were Hollywood legend Charlie Chaplin’s remains dug up and held for ransom?

TV Land is playing it safe with Designing Women and Knight Rider it seems. They can easily go back to The Jeffersons in DW's prime slot and Three's Company in DW's late slot. And Knight Rider can EASILY be repladed by Bonanza at 10am, leading into Gunsmoke at 11am.

So, don't be surprised if that happens.

9PM isn't a problem for me anyway. Who's the Boss? on ION is where I am at, and it looks as if it will be staying for the long run due to the high ratings. I wish they would have put a sitcom at 5pm though.

I'm usually watching WTB too, so that slot really doesn't matter. If anything, by the beginning of November, DW wil lbe replaced by The Jeffersons at 9pm, but it'll probably keep it's 1:45 slot.

I'm glad to see I Love Lucy is really doing well. Getting a weeklong marathon, in PRIMETIME, is great.

The 9pm Slot for DW maybe a problem because it will have to compete with WTB on ION which is doing well. So 9pm won't work for me

And what has TVLand's Myths and Legends have to do with Halloween? There are lots of TV shows from the 1950's and 1960's,with Halloween-themed episodes that TVLand COULD air instead:Examples:The Addams Family had two,Bewitched,The Dick Van Dyke Show, etc.,all had Halloween-themed episodes. But the decision was theirs,NOT ours.

What if all the movies and TVLand Originals (the ONLY ones I like are "Inside TVLand" and "TVLand Confidential"because they at least have something to do with TV-the rest of them I could care less about)were to bomb in the ratings? Then maybe-just maybe-TVLand will return to the way they were in the beginning.Besides, this is NOT "Movie Land" (yes,I am aware some people LIKE them) as TVLand says "TVLand is Movie Land Fridays at 10PM)or,as some posters have said ,"Reality Land".It's TVLand.-I repeat-TV Land.WE viewers know that.THEY(The .TVLand powers that be)do NOT.

And notice in the "Leave it to Beaver"50th Anniversary marathon, they are NOT showing ANY fifth and sixth season (1961-1962 or 1962-1963 episodes with the exception of the last show of the series,1963's"Family Scrapbook")episodes?

Thank heavens for ALN (formerly Nostalgia Channel) is showing Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, WKRP In Cincinnati, and Newhart on Monday nights. Sure beats the usual crap tvland is still trying to shove at us. As for ION: I will believe they expand when I see it. (Like I will believe TVLand goes back to regular starting times when it actually happens).

I am glad to see DW on Tv Land because I like that show but not in the place of Three's Company. GEESH! Will Three's Company still be airing? Now what will they take off to put on this new reality show that they have coming out about the over 35 year old models? I hope not LITB or TC or TAGS. TV land just loves to follow the crowd and cannot remain original

The schedule still looks decent (I would have thought TVLand would have changed everything already, LOL).....The only thing I can't stand is all these shows, sharing timeslots. I think it's the most irritating thing. They should have a permanent lineup for a few months.

Yeah, that does bug me. The only thing that bugs me on this schedule, a huge surprise. Especially in the primetime and morning hours. Some days they have one show airing. Other days they have a different show airing, in the same timeslot. That's where it's hard for viewers to keep track of what's on that day.

Yeah, um, hey TV Land, how about having Night Court on EVERY morning?

How do I get the feeling that all the episodes will be from the last season and they'll just wash/rinse/repeat until they find something to replace it?

This might be just for two weeks, but The Brady Bunch is coming back to TV Land. The Brady Bunch has been added to the schedule airing Tues-Fri at 11am starting Tuesday, October 2. It might be just for weeks of Oct. 1 and 8 (replacing a second Green Acres), as Designing Women is slated to still launch Tues-Fri at 11am starting Oct. 15.

Gee, Wally!! TV Land Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Leave It To Beaver With 24 Hour On-Air Salute Beginning Saturday, October 6th

Marathon Features Show's Rarely-Seen 1957 Pilot, 'It's A Small World'
TV Land.com Offers Full Streaming Episodes, Exclusive Photos and
Sweepstakes

NEW YORK, Sept. 26 -- TV Land celebrates the 50th anniversary of one of television's beloved family sitcoms, Leave It To Beaver with a 24 hour marathon beginning on October 6th at 8:00PM ET/PT concluding on Sunday, October 7th at 8:00PM ET/PT. The marathon includes the rarely-seen 1957 pilot entitled "It's a Small World" that features Jerry Mathers as the Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver; Paul Sullivan as Wally and Barbara Billingsley and Max Showalter as the parents June and Ward Cleaver.
Additionally, veteran comedic actor Harry Shearer is seen in one of his very first roles as Frankie, a neighborhood tough guy.

Leave It To Beaver is one of the first sitcoms to take a look at life from a seven-year old's point of view. Much to the dismay of his parents, Ward and June, "Beaver" got himself into and out of one childhood jam after another. In addition to the All-American Cleavers, audiences fondly remember the shenanigans of Eddie Haskell who tried hard to sweet talk the adults all the while bullying Beaver and his pals. The show premiered on October 4, 1957 and followed "Beaver" and his brother, Wally through their adolescent years, with the series ending September 12, 1963 with Wally going off to college and "Beaver" starting his teenage years.

"Leave It To Beaver is one of the most beloved sit-coms in television history and we are thrilled to air the rarely-seen Leave It To Beaver pilot, "It's A Small World" as part of our 24-hour celebration of the show's 50th anniversary," stated Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land. "Generations of people continue to be drawn to the stories of Wally and "The Beav" and over 6 million viewers continue to enjoy this wonderful comedy on TV Land weekly."

In the weeks leading up to the October 6th marathon, TV Land.com will be the home to all things Leave It To Beaver. The site will feature the best of Leave It To Beaver clips along with streaming the original 1957 pilot, "It's A Small World" as well as four bonus episodes chosen by TVLand.com users. In addition to the exclusive video content, tvland.com offers its users a chance to win the series on DVD. Finally, the site will be filled with a special photo gallery and a mind-bending Leave It To Beaver trivia game.

This is definitely great news. I just hope Brady Bunch doesn't go away after it begins airing, which TVLand does very often. Pavan, do you know how well EM: HE is doing? Since it was moved to Saturday nights, not sure if that is a move to improve ratings, or get the ratings for Saturday night up.

Good to see Designing Women on the channel now, although it's unnecessary with it being on pax. I assume it'll go off of Nick at Nite when that happens, though. Too bad about The Cosby Show, at least that's on other channels. It'll be good to see Three's Company more in earlier hours, and it being on the clock more.

Maybe not the best slots oveall, but still it's on quite a bit each week. Since I'm not a huge fan of this show, I most likely won't be watching on TVLand. It's still on ION at 7pm, a good time for me.

Got it. And yeah, encore means repeat.

The LITB marathon is very good, but not great as it is lacking any Season 5-6 episodes, spare "Family Scrapbook." It also would have been nice to make an announcement and show them uncut to commemorate the anniversary of this classic series, like they did when I Love Lucy turned 50.

When oh when is Gunsmoke going to be put out to pasture? I don't know how long that show has been on TV Land's schedule, but it seems like an eternity!

I can't understand how these edited commercial ridden movies do well for TV Land. With premium channels, on Demand, and DVD's who would want to watch these? TV Land should go back to exclusive showings of Classic TV sitcoms and series. (50's-80's only.) Forget the other stuff!

"TV Land should go back to exclusive showings of Classic TV sitcoms and series. (50's-80's only.) Forget the other stuff!"

I agree whole-heartedly but I fear it will never happen. Just look at the long list of networks to go down the drain: TVLand, N@N, Hallmark (once known as Odyssey), Game Show Network, MTV (remember when they were 24 hour video channel?), VH1 Classic , Comedy Channel (once known as Ha!), Biography, WGN, WTBS, ESPN Classic (used to be Classic Sports TV), and the list goes on and on.

American Life Network (once known as the Nostalgia Channel) is the only one left that has not been ruined...yet. I have made the decision that the only way I am going to see the shows I want is to buy them on dvd, studio release or "grey" area from places like I-Offer. Other than watching current sports I have given up on television.

Good to see them bringing some more shows in, they're not the best choices, but good to see them add something new. I like it, even though I probably won't be watching them much, except for maybe I Love Lucy at night.

My gut feeling is this schedule won't last. It's just not TVL. There's just too much variety for them these days, they'll blame bad ratings and start overloading us with Sanford and Son, M*A*S*H, and Andy Griffith again and lots of double takes and marathons like they have in the past. I hope this isn't the case, but it's just how I feel.

But that's the good thing about it. For the first time all year, we're actually getting tons of variety. We get an entire morning block, 3 straight hours of 6 different sitcoms. What could be better? Plus we get the afternoon bloc, a good overnight schedule.

That'd be Season 6. So it'll be awhile till we get to those eps.

Now for my question. I just looked on my digital cable guide for Mon, it seems TV Land is showing random eps of DW. When are they going to start a regular cycle, so I can record them in order?

I'm curious as to why TV Land doesn't show "WKRP" or "Barney Miller"? Both of these are funny 70's sitcomes that should do good in primtime. Designing Women? Please don't! At least not in primetime. They need to put Star Trek in a better time slot. Maybe weekends in primetime or at 9p or 10pm (CDT). How many people are up at 5am (CDT)?

Please kill "Extreme Makeover"! TV Land is in danger of losing their base if they continue to show some of these things. I mean last night they ran "Rain Man". Is their anyone who hasn't seen it? Or hasn't had a chance to see it a million times?

Or hasn't had a chance to see it a million times? The reason TVLand airs their mostly overplayed shows they air now,is because they get good ratings, and as long as they keep getting good ratings, they will continue to play them, whether WE viewers like it or not, because,(and this is 100%true )the TVLand higher ups(programming executives)have the FINAL SAY as to what TVLand does and does not air.,and when it airs a show. And I,too, wish they'd get rid of "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition",but obviously SOMEBODY IMPORTANT is watching, because if NOBODY watched the show,TVLand would get rid of it in a heartbeat. And why "Designing Women"?ION already airs it,and will probably continue airing it.And as I've said numerous times before, this is TVLand,NOT-I repeat-NOT Movie Land.

TV Land Braves Mysterious Myths and Legends with Halloween Marathon on Sunday, October 28

NEW YORK, Oct. 23 -- TV Land goes bobbing for answers to some of entertainment's darkest mysteries on Sunday, October 28 from 7PM - 10:30PM (all times ET/PT) with a special Halloween marathon of TV Land's hit original series, TV Land Myths and Legends. Celebrate All Hallow's Eve with over three hours of Hollywood's most mystifying secrets and bizarre rumors.
From deceased munchkins and the Poltergeist curse to haunted film sets and lifeless Bond girls, TV Land will have you on the edge of your seat.

TV Land Myths and Legends features appearances by celebrities -- many of whom had a direct connection to these legendary stories. Each episode explores extraordinary tales about Hollywood's most memorable stars, TV shows, films and music. The series examines the origin of these myths and rumors -- shedding light on some of pop culture's most baffling mysteries.

The TV Land Myths and Legends Halloween Special schedule is as follows (all times ET/PT):

7 p.m. - "The Ghost & Mrs. Gabor"
Is that really the ghost of a nine-year-old boy seen through a window in
the film Three Men and a Baby? Who really inspired Carly Simon's #1 hit,
You're So Vain? What shocking, sexual innuendo heated up late night when Johnny Carson asked Zsa Zsa Gabor to remove her pet cat from her lap?
We'll explore these mysteries and more on this episode of TV Land Myths
and Legends.

7:30 p.m. - "Super Stars & Sudden Deaths"
Did television Superman George Reeves really leap from a tall building to
his death? Did Mama Cass of The Mamas and The Papas really die by choking on a ham sandwich? Did Joan Rivers truly reveal Victoria Principal's home phone number live on The Late Show?

8 p.m. - "Film Frights & Red Scares"
Is Long Island's Amityville Horror house really haunted? Was Lucille Ball
ever a Communist? Did an unemployed ice cream truck driver win over
$100,000 on the game show Press Your Luck by memorizing the supposedly
random patterns on the game board?

8:30 p.m. - "Secret Agents & Game Shows"
Did a beautiful Bond girl die of suffocation when her entire body was
painted gold for a scene in Goldfinger? Is it true that Gong Show host
and producer Chuck Barris was also a trained CIA assassin? What stunning
x-rated answer did a contestant give Bob Eubanks on The Newlywed Game?

9 p.m. - "Graves, Gilligan & Groucho"
Is there really a Poltergeist curse? Was Gilligan's Island a metaphor for
hell? Were the recently buried remains of legendary film comedian Charlie
Chaplin dug up by grave robbers and held for ransom? What sexual innuendo did Groucho Marx get away with on You Bet Your Life?

9:30 p.m. - "Munchkins & Misbehavior"
Can the body of a suicidal munchkin really be seen hanging from a tree in
The Wizard of Oz? Was Barry Williams really high on the set of a 1973
episode of The Brady Bunch? Did famed TV chef Julia Child actually drop a
chicken, pick it up, and advise her audience, "Remember, you're alone in
the kitchen?"

10 p.m. - "Elvis"
Thirty years after Elvis has "left the building," TV Land takes an in-
depth look at some of the most popularly held mysteries about the King of
Rock 'n' Roll and dissects them to separate fact from fiction. Are Oprah
Winfrey and Elvis really related? Did he really approach President Nixon
in the hopes of becoming a federal drug agent? These, and many other
mysteries will be answered in this special edition of TV Land Myths and
Legends.
