The other night I saw the Thanksgiving one where Bev comes out of the closet and the prince gets drunk. I think it is season 9, "Home is Where the Afghan Is." Roseanne made a comment that the house really changed since they got the money and she was concerned that if Dan returned he wouldn't like it. Darlene said don't worry, she saved the painting of the dogs playing poker.

Then in a later episode when Dan was coming home, Roseanne panicked because she had gotten rid of the painting. David painted another one and DJ remarked that the dogs were holding the wrong poker hands.

Does anyone know which episode that was? It is weird that no one noticed that slip in continuity; it was only a couple of episodes later.

Maybe she forgot that she did. Remember, she was pregnant, sometimes pregnant women tend to forget things. Perhaps Darlene was one of those forgetfuls.

"Home is Where the Afghan Is" is episode number 208 from season 9 which first aired on Tuesday, November 26, 1996. Dan's homecoming episode is "Home for the Holidays" which is episode number 210, of course, from that same season. It originally aired on Tuesday, December 17, 1996. I doubt that "Darlene" or "Roseanne" forgot about saviong/throwing out the Poker Art due to a pregnancy memory loss (sunshinefizzy's comment in above post); they are just a characters-- if such were the case, it would have been explained that way to viewers. Plus, Roseanne was no longer pregnant in these episodes. She gave birth to Jerry Garcia Conner in "Halloween: the Final Chapter" (episode number: 178, season number: 8, which first aired on Tuesday October 31,1995). Lawrence Broch wrote both episodes, but Roseanne Barr came up with the story for the second one. Maybe that had something to do with it. "Too many cooks spoil the broth," ya know?
