Washington Heights

This is a new dramatic sitcom about a group of families living in an exclusive cul de sac in a suburban San Diego subdivision. Kathie Lee Gifford plays Karen Phillipps, a former teen model-turned-busybody real estate agent, who lives in Washington Heights along with her advertising executive husband, Frank Phillipps (Stanley Tucci) and their beautiful yet snotty 16-year-old daughter, Brooke Phillipps (Jamie Lynn Spears). Also, living in Washington Heights is the Hunter family, consisting of: the airline pilot father, Jack Hunter (John Travolta), the former flight attendant-turned-housewife, Vanessa Hunter (Kelly Preston), and their two teenage daughters: the 19-year-old temptress-like rebel, Danica Hunter (Sarah Mason), and the 16-year-old naive honor student, Lacey Hunter (Emma Roberts). Along with the Phillipps family and the Hunter family is the Brandt family. The college professor patriarch of the family is Tim Brandt (Will Smith) lives with his stay-at-home pregnant wife, Rachel Brandt (Nia Long), and their two teenage sons: the 16-year-old popular athlete, Jason Brandt (Tequan Richmond), and the 15-year-old brainy wannabe (who has his eyes set on Lacey), Ryan Brandt (Tyler James Williams). New to Washington Heights is the Nolan family, consisting of: the interior decorater mother, Bobbie Nolan (Marcia Cross), the workaholic plastic surgeon father, Dave Nolan (Tim Daly), and their three teenage children: the 19-year-old bisexual vegan, Mackenzie Nolan (Evan Rachel Wood), the 16-year-old shy cutie (who all the girls like), Spencer Nolan (Max Thieriot), and the 9-year-old precocious soccer-enthusiast, Tina Nolan (Abigail Breslin). Karen Phillipps begins to feel threatened by Bobbie Nolan's newfound interest in the neighborhood activities. Vanessa Hunter copes with Jack off working (as a pilot, from San Diego to Seattle) four days a week, as she must become like a "single mother" to her two girls. Bobbie and Dave's marriage is closely-on the verge of a divorce, yet Bobbie is determined to make her marriage work and not end up like her divorced mother (whom she shares a strained relationship with). Tim and Rachel struggle with have two growing teenage boys, who are often at each other's throat, as they welcome the birth of their third child together (this time well into their late 30s). Mackenzie Nolan's relationship with her equally-headstrong rebellious girlfriend, Nikki Olsen (Nikki Reed), upsets an usually-supportive Bobbie after the teenage couple are overseen conducting in PDAs (public displays of affection) in front of the head of the neighborhood/subdivision committee, Karen, especially after Karen personally frowns upon Bobbie's request to join the committee.

EPISODES

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
The Nolan family moves into Washington Heights, and is befriended by all the neighbors except for the Phillipps family. Also, Tim and Rachel's doctor knows the sex of the baby, but they first decide to not want to know, then often change their minds-driving Dr. Byrnes (Steve Harvey) crazy. Tim and Rachel later breakdown and learn they are expecting a baby girl. Also, Danica rebels once again, this time getting her tongue-pierced and a lower back tattoo--much to her parents' dismays.

Ep2: Come Join The Committee, Or Not:
Bobbie decides to join Washington Heights Neighborhood/Subdivision Committee, which threatens Karen as head chairwoman of the committee when Bobbie's new ideas become more popular than Karen's ideas. Vanessa and Rachel take Bobbie under their wing, and inform her about who's who and what's their story, including Karen. Meanwhile, Spencer is asked to shoot hoops with Jason, Ryan, and their dad (Tim) after Spencer is left by himself as his dad heads off to the hospital again.

Ep3: Like It Or Not:
Bobbie and Vanessa separately have to come to terms with their husbands and their passion for their careers, as Jack leaves for another four-day-absence and Dave puts off helping his family get settled in as he prepares to go into work. Meanwhile, Frank comes to terms with Karen's lack of interest in their sex-life, which irritates him dearly. Frank tries his best to strike up an awkward conversation with Tim about his and Karen's deceasing sex life. Also, Brooke and Lacey's friendship takes a turn south when Brooke decides to go ahead and ask out Lacey's crush (when Lacey is too chicken to do so).

Ep4: Shining Stars:
Bobbie and the kids cheer on Tina as her soccer team wins yet another game, without Dave present. As Tim and Rachel are thrilled that Jason has made the football team, Ryan is anything but thrilled when he feels left in the shadows. Meanwhile, Danica finds herself in detention after being caught seducing her male English teacher (for a better test grade), and Vanessa is called in, and is mortified that her daughter would do such an unethical thing, and makes Danica explain what happened over the phone to an outraged Jack (in Seattle).

Ep5: Not Like Mom:
Bobbie is bound and determined not to end up like her mother--to become divorced, become bitter, take out frustrations on her kids, and blame them for divorce. Bobbie suggests to Dave about marriage counseling, he refuses which causes her to become upset. Meanwhile, Rachel's hormones are going like a rollercoaster causing confusion and chaos for Tim, Jason, and Ryan. Also, Karen becomes embarrassed when her less-than-classy mother, Evelyn (Shirley MacLaine) pays a surprise visit at the Phillipps home.

Ep6: Dave Dancing With Danica:
To make it up to Bobbie for causing her heartache, Dave surprises EVERYONE when he decides to take her out dancing one night. Thing is...Dave can't dance, but after overhearing a conversation about Danica being in dance-he goes to Danica for quick dance lessons. Danica agrees to teach Mr. Nolan how to dance, yet has a few of her tricks up her sleeve-as she ends up enticing Dave by her scantily-clad clothing (which bares her navel and lower back tattoo) and not-to-mention, ends up kissing Dave after a heated Salsa lesson. Dave and Danica end up letting their hormones take the best of them and engage in a scandalous affair---which is sworn to secrecy yet is secretly overseen by nosy Frank (who's always had a weird-attraction to Danica since she had blossomed into a woman). Meanwhile, Tim and Rachel decide that Tim should give the boys 'the talk'--which leaves Tim more educated about the sex nowdays from his boys. Even though, he fears his boys are sexually active and that scares him.
