I grew up a few miles from Evansville Indiana. Matt Williams creator and producer of Roseanne was born in Evansville, and attended the University of Evansville. Matt used photographs of his hometown on the Roseanne Show, many that I kept thinking looked so familiar until I did some research and found indeed they were Evansville. Just a bit of trivia. I read on IMBd that Matt was fired by Roseanne, and he didn't want to work with another comedian, until he met Tim Allen, and the rest is history.

Nice forum here.

Thanks for the welcome.

Evansville is a very nice city. They are well known for their Fall Festival, which they come in 2nd in size, next to the Mardi Gras.

In fact one one of the still shots looks to be from Franklin St. where the Festival takes place each Oct. The Executive Inn downtown, I've caught in one of the stills. The stills of course, use different names on the buildings except The 11th Frame Lounge which in on Franklin St as well. I'm not sure that all the shots during the run of Roseanne were from Evansville, due to the fact that Matt left the show at some point. It is possible that other shots of other towns could have been used as well, just my guess. The west side of Evansville seems to be where the still shots I recognize are taken from. I kept seeing the 3rd and Delaware street sign for a several years, and remembered the streets in Evansville and finally realized, "yeah that's Evansville!" Recently I got online and read about Matt W. and sure enough it told he used the hometown shots. Also those twin church steeples in the shots you can see from the infamous 'Lloyd Expressway' there, as they are located somewhere near the
1st Avenue area. Yes Madame X, I Love Lucy and Roseanne are a couple of my favs! :)
