 I have always wondered why roseanne and dan's baby was a boy and throughout her whole pregnancy they said that it was going to be a girl. Did i miss something or did they just decide to make the baby a girl?

Nope, you didn't miss anything.....The baby was originally going to be a girl, but they changed it to a boy, when Roseanne found out she was pregnant with a boy, in real life.

Actually, I think that it was suddenly changed to a boy when the leader of the band "Grateful Dead," Jerry Garcia, died, and Roseanne wanted to name the show's baby in his honor.

And, you almost have it right. The original script called for Roseanne to go into labor at a Grateful Dead concert, but with Garcia's untimely death, the episode had to be re-written. I'm not sure if they intended to name the baby Jerry Garcia all along, or it that was written in, too, in tribute to him after his passing.

Too my knowledge, even though it was a boy, no one on the show ever wondered about (or mentioned!) the mistake!

They could've said something when she gave birth like "Oops, the doctors got it wrong." Not in those words, but it does sound like something Roseanne would say.
