All month long weekdays at 12pm and Fri-Sun at 8pm
Includes TV Land Myths and Legends: Elvis (special)
on Thursday, August 16 at 10 p.m. ET/PT -- 30th Anniversary of Elvis' Death
Based on the popularity of season one of TV Land Myths & Legends, this half-hour special coincides with TV Land's month-long salute to Elvis Presley. Thirty years after his death, TV Land takes an in-depth look at some of the most popularly held mysteries about the "King of Rock and Roll" and dissects them to separate fact from fiction.
TV Land Original:
TV Land’s Myths & Legends (Elvis edition) - Thurs, Aug. 16 at 10pm & 1:10am; Friday, Aug. 17 at 7:30pm; Saturday, Aug. 18 at 9am; Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 2:30pm; Friday, Aug. 24 at 11:30am; Saturday, Aug. 25 at 12:30pm
Movies featuring Elvis:
Aloha From Hawaii - Elvis Presley performs in Honolulu, Hawaii, in this 1973 concert. Elvis made television and entertainment history as this was the first-ever live concert broadcast over satellite, reaching in excess of one billion people worldwide. - Sunday, Aug. 19 at 8pm; Friday, Aug. 24 at 12pm
Easy Come, Easy Go - Tuesday, Aug 14 at 12pm
Fun in Acapulco - Elvis stars a former circus acrobat named Mike who finds himself south of the border after a deadly trapeze accident. Mike is discovered by a 10 year old shoeshine boy (Larry Domasin), who helps him land a job as a lifeguard and lounge singer at a local hotel. Between songs, one of which, “Guadalajara”, is sung by Elvis in Spanish, Mike becomes romantically entangled with both lady bullfighter Dolores Gomez (Elsa Cardenas) and the hotel’s social manager Marguerita (Ursula Andress). Fun and campy, the beach dance scenes are classic Elvis fun. - Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 12pm; Thursday, Aug. 30 at 12pm
Girl Happy - Struggling up and coming musician Rusty Wells (Elvis Presley) would do almost anything, and almost does, to get a gig, including baby sitting the local mob boss’s daughter (Shelley Fabares) during her spring break trip to Ft Lauderdale, Florida. During this uproarious beachside adventure, Elvis dresses in drag, foils a would-be Romeo, and ends up falling for the girl himself. Hilarity ensues as we watch Rusty's adventure to get that gig. - Friday, Aug. 10 at 12pm; Monday, Aug. 27 at 12pm
Live a Little, Love a Little - By far one of most adult roles of Elvis’s film career, Live a Little Love a Little follows Greg Nolan (Presley), a news and fashion photographer, as he falls in love with the beautiful but crazy Bernice (Michele Carey). Bernice’s multiple personalities cause Greg to loose both his apartment and job, which leads to him sharing an apartment, and an on screen bed, with Bernice. The film is highlighted by several rumble scenes; a marked change from Elvis’s more passive roles, and an ‘edge of reality’ dream sequence. - Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 12pm
Love Me Tender - A young Elvis Presley made his historic film debut in this riveting western set during the conclusion of the Civil War. He plays the youngest of four brothers, and the only one too young to go off to fight in the war. When his brothers return home, bringing with them a stolen Union payroll, they find that Presley married his oldest brother’s (Richard Egan) girl, a source of understandable tension. Debra Paget co-stars in this period drama
Friday, Aug 3 at 8pm; Saturday, Aug. 4 at 1pm; Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 12pm; Friday, Aug. 31 at 12pm
Paradise Hawaiian Style - Paradise Hawaiian Style follows Presley as young Rick Richards in his ambitious fight to survive as a helicopter pilot with a failing Hawaiian charter service. With his friend Danny Kohana (James Shigeta) and sassy co-pilot/secretary Judy (Suzanna Leigh) by his side, Rick experiences the day to day struggle of making a living in paradise. - Mon. Aug, 13 at 12pm; Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 12pm
Roustabout - Fate had it in for troubadour Charlie Rogers (Presley), when he crashes his motorcycle into a traveling carnival. As a relationship develops between Charlie and the carnival owner’s daughter, he is faced with the choice between continuing his wandering ways and keeping the girl. An entertaining film studded with music and choreographed numbers, Roustabout has it all. - Thursday, Aug. 9 at 12pm; Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 12pm
Wild in Country - Elvis Presley’s dramatic role as a Glenn, a troubled, alcoholic youth is riveting as Wild in the Country follows his journey through counseling, run-ins with the law and his growing relationship with his teacher and mentor Irene (Hope Lange). Irene helps Glenn discover his passion for writing, creating an outlet for Glenn’s emotional turmoil, and Presley’s music, as he is tempted back to his bad-boy ways by Noreen (Tuesday Weld), a local bad-girl. - Monday, Aug. 6 at 12pm; Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 12pm
Mini-series/Retrospectives:
Elvis and Me, Part 1 - Based on 1986’s phenomenal #1 New York Times Best Seller, made-for-TV movie Elvis And Me, tells the life of Elvis through the eyes of the only woman who could legally call Elvis her husband, Priscilla Presley - Saturday, Aug. 4 at 8pm; Friday, Aug. 10 at 8pm; Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 12pm
Elvis and Me, Part 2 - Based on 1986’s phenomenal #1 New York Times Best Seller, made-for-TV movie Elvis And Me, tells the life of Elvis through the eyes of the only woman who could legally call Elvis her husband, Priscilla Presley - Sunday, Aug. 5 at 8pm; Friday, Aug 17 at 8pm; Thursday, Aug. 23 at 12pm
Elvis by the Presleys - The story of Elvis Presley's extraordinary life is given a new, unique twist with these recollections from his former wife, Priscilla, and daughter Lisa Marie. Originally aired on CBS in 2005, ELVIS BY THE PRESLEYS offers endlessly fascinating anecdotes from the glamorous pair, while also offering viewers the chance to pour over some rarely seen footage and photographs from the Presley Estate. Archival footage of Elvis' home movies provide special interest, as these have never previously been made available for public consumption. Priscilla generously presents her side of the story, offering wonderful insight in what life with The King was like, while Lisa Marie also chips in with a few remembrances of Elvis from her younger days. This is a great chance for Elvis fans to glimpse what life was like within the inner-sanctum of their hero. - Thursday, Aug. 16 at 8pm; Friday, Aug. 24 at 8pm
Elvis: His Best Friend Remembers - A remarkable illustrated interview with longtime Elvis buddy Joe Esposito, who met Presley in the Army and stayed a member of the "Memphis Mafia" for the rest of the King's life (and death--his account of finding Elvis's body is fascinating). Random footage from newsreels and various Presley press conferences is cut into the interview, along with a lot of vintage '60s Polaroids. - Thursday, Aug. 16 at 12pm; Monday, Aug. 20 at 12pm
Concerts/Musical Appearances :
68 Comeback Special - An incredible treasure trove of footage documenting a high point of the King's career and a milestone of televised musical performances. Taped and broadcast in 1968 after Elvis had seemingly abandoned live performing in favor of a movie career, the '68 Comeback Special was a remarkably intimate show, Elvis singing his old songs on a small stage, often alone, surrounded on all sides by a rapt audience. - Sunday, Aug. 12 at 8pm; Friday, Aug. 17 at 12pm
Ed Sullivan's Rock & Roll Classics: Elvis - Share the excitement of Elvis’ earth-shattering introduction to the nation and experience for yourself why Elvis became the legendary King of Rock and Roll. Appearing on the show Sept. 9, 1956, Elvis sent shock waves through a repressed nation with his soulful singing, wild hip gyrations and raw energy, attracting a record-breaking TV audience of more than 60 million people. Presley returned on Oct. 28, 1956, continuing to provoke ecstatic screams with hits such as "Don't Be Cruel," "Love Me Tender" and "Hound Dog." In fact, these exhilarating performances were so explosive that Elvis was filmed above the waist during his final Sullivan show appearance on January 6, 1957. - Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7:30pm
Elvis on Tour - Director Robert Abel presents a marvelous look at Elvis, using concert, rehearsal and backstage footage, as well as clips from the early days of his career (and a wonderful montage of him kissing his co-stars while "Love Me Tender" is performed). While Elvis looks in great shape from the neck down (with the athletic flexibility to do his deep leg lunges), his face shows much dissipation however, and tells another story; the feeling one gets from this film is of a desperately sad man, a hurting soul, putting a brave mask on for the world. There is also not even a flicker of ego...we see only a hard-working guy, with not a shred of arrogance. He wears his flashy clothes with grace, style and humility, and sings his heart out, and it's a beautiful thing to see. - Sunday, Aug. 26 at 8pm
Great Performances Pt 1 - Saturday, Aug. 11 at 8pm
Great Performances Pt 2 - Saturday, Aug. 18 at 8pm
Great Performances Pt 3 - Saturday, Aug. 25 at 8pm

He’s in for a surprise when a special guest star shows up to buy his “artwork.” Then, Night Court’s Harry Anderson punches in at a New Orleans courthouse for a day – attempting to learn what it takes to really be a judge. Only Harry Anderson would somehow manage to officiate a real life wedding during his tenure as a judge.

She played a tutor on the Golden Girls, but now Bea Arthur takes on one of the greatest roles of her illustrious career -- teaching and tutoring college SAT prep classes to a group of feisty teenagers! Then, St. Elsewhere’s Ed Begley, Jr. recreates his TV job by working at St. Joseph’s hospital for a day – with tasks ranging from manning the information booth to serving lunches to patients and even conquers his biggest fear – taking blood.

This is absolutely crazy! Why even have a weekly schedule for this channel, when all they do is preempt it every single night! Seriously - the schedule is just a complete schedule of shows. No matter theire ratings are dipping: no one knows when a show is on!
Plus, they are going way too overboard on this whole Elvis thing. They are destroying there afternoon lineup and weekends to air Elvis movies and specials. It's crazy! And, we get 2 episodes of Three's Company, in really bad slots, a night? Pavan, does this have to do with running out of airplays, or because of bad ratings? I know three's Company's contract ends in September - will it get renewed?
At least we get The Jeffersons back i primetime (for a few nights here and there). Finally I see a change in the right direction, especially with there primetime lineup (excluding EM: HM)
Pavan
06-12-2007, 11:48 AM
Three's Company's current contract expires August 31. Airplays are very low, that is why only one episode a night with an encore. No idea yet if they will renew, but it is likely.

That's what I thought. Thanks.
Also, do you know when All in the Family's Contract expires, and if it will be renewed? I wasn't sure if it was already renewed, or will be soon.
Pavan
06-12-2007, 12:08 PM
All in the Family expires at the end of September. I have no idea if it will be renewed. Good Times expires at the end of June, but it will be renewed.
Other shows expiring in 2007: Bonanza (end of August) and What's Happening!!/What's Happening Now!! (end of October)
No info on renewals, besides Good Times.

Even though the schedule is very confusing, the weekends seem better with not much of the westerns then. I actually like it.
Pavan
06-12-2007, 02:37 PM
Westerns will be Sundays and Mondays in August.

I think All in The Family will be Renewed After The end of September
Why on earth so many I Love Lucy episodes on the weekends? Heavens to betsy! I wonder if it will be a victim of low airplays soon..

The I Love Lucy must be a rerun
Pavan

They are max playing Lucy it seems. Tons of encores on weekends. Remember encores within 24 hours do not count as an airplay.

06-12-2007, 08:14 PM
what does Max playing mean
EmoJoe
06-12-2007, 08:19 PM
I Love Lucy was kind of robbed of airplay for the past few years so i don't think it's a big deal that it's getting a lot of airtime.
they need to stop with the off-the-clock bullcrap though, its annoying. the only good thing N@N has done lately was dump that, TV Land should follow. i dont really watch either networks though. lol.

06-12-2007, 08:21 PM
How long Has I Love Lucy been on TV Land
Pavan
06-12-2007, 08:51 PM
Max playing means they are airing the episodes twice within 24-hours, taking advantage of the plays. The second play within 24 hours is really a free play.
And Lucy has been on TV Land since 2001...come on Aaron, you knew that. 50th anniversary was in 2001.
Also, everyone make sure yo read the blog on this month, so you know what is going on schedule wise: http://www.sitcomsonline.com/blog/2007/06/tv-land-august-schedule-includes-month.html

is Wednesday Blog about The Fall Schedule
I don't understand this way of scheduling....what happened to having a M-F schedule, a Saturday and a Sunday schedule (that were different only in mornings and afternoons)? I remember prime time was the same lineup 7 nights a week until 2005 or so. ahhh...2001-2004...those were the days!!!
TV Land is turning in to a bunch of clutter, just like MTV, TBS, etc - different schedules every day and tons of pre-empting. I predict it'll eventually be 50/50 with baby boomer 'lifestyle'-type programs, special programs, reality programs, etc...like the movies, Elvis specials, originals, etc.

I can make a better schedule than TVLand. The first thing I would do is get rid of the stupid off the clock schedule. Then I would limit the movies (including the Elvis ones) to two airings a week. Then I would make a weekday schedule that would be the same all five days. Here's how I would do the schedule.

Are The Jeffersons doing better which is why it back in primetime?
Because Originally It Was Taken out of primetime Because the ratings were not that good.
i was just starting to like three's Company when tv land had to move it in the late nigh.
and i don't really care for M*a*s*h so it can get shifted a hour.
i think Tv Land Should Put All In The Family At 5:00 And 5:30pm slot.
I Would stick Andy at 4:00 And 4:30pm that way All In The Family Can Have A Good Lead in.
and Last i would move Little House Prairie to 3pm.

No shows have been announced to the public besides Just Shoot Me for January 2008 and Scrubs for October 2008. Designing Women was slated for October 2007, not sure if it will still happen. There was supposed to be a Laugh-In stunt for this September...again, not sure if it is still happening.

President Larry Jones has turned this network into TOTAL CRAP!
Just when you think TV Land gets rid of the overplayed Westerns for the last 5 YEARS, they keep on replaying the same cut up commercial-ridden, edited movies 3x a week. I mean WTF? Are they having so much trouble getting licensing rights for classic shows that we are forced to watch movies that nobody cares about? Damn! If you want movies, get cable or dish, a premium channel or two, buy or rent the DVD's of the movies you want, and see them in their proper commercial free unedited glory.
What is the justification for these movies that people have seen 158 times? TV Land is supposed to be a home for classic TV shows, NOT movies! Such a move confuses the viewer at best. At worst, it alienates him/her to being forced to watch programing in the movies that certainly can NOT be bringing in good ratings. Or, does TV Land's decision to run such movies do nothing more than explain the new found philosophy of its programing budget, "cheap."
TV Land can't even properly program their few remaining classic shows into consistent time-slots! I echo what everyone has said above. TV Land has now become another "Super Station", or to put it bluntly, "Stupid Station!"

TV Land and the City of Honolulu to Honor Elvis Presley With Life-Sized Sculpture on July 26, 2007
NEW YORK, June 26 -- TV Land and the city of Honolulu, Hawaii, will dedicate a life-sized bronze sculpture of Elvis Presley on Thursday, July 26 at 10 a.m. (HDT); it was announced today by Larry W. Jones, President, TV Land, and Mufi Hannemann, Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu. The statue will grace The Neal S. Blaisdell Center, formerly The Honolulu International Center, the site of Elvis' 1973 Aloha from Hawaii concert. The sculpture - which commemorates this historic Aloha from Hawaii event seen globally on television — portrays the King of Rock 'n' Roll as he appeared in that performance and pays tribute to him during the 30th Anniversary year of his passing. Then, in August, TV Land will celebrate Elvis Presley's work with a month-long tribute commemorating his legacy. This ultimate showcase includes: the '68 Comeback Special, Aloha from Hawaii, the documentary Elvis By The Presleys, his much-loved films like Love Me Tender and Wild in the Country, and the original special Myths and Legends: Elvis, which provides insight into some of the long-standing mysteries surrounding Presley.
TVLand.com will be the home of everything Elvis and pays tribute to the King. The site will offer images of the statue, an Elvis photo gallery, statue dedication footage and more.
"Elvis Presley is undoubtedly the ultimate icon of pop culture and one of the greatest entertainers of the 20th century," states Larry W. Jones. "TV Land is thrilled to celebrate his life with this statue dedication and to honor him with a programming showcase this August so that fans will forever be reminded of his amazing legacy that continues to endure."
The tribute to Elvis includes:
Sculpture
This bronze sculpture is the network's sixth work to honor people, places and moments from pop culture by recognizing the site as a "TV Land Landmark." The network's landmarks include: a bronze statue of Ralph Kramden of The Honeymooners at the entrance of New York City's Port Authority Bus Terminal; a sculpture of Mary Tyler Moore from The Mary Tyler Moore Show at Nicollett Mall in downtown Minneapolis, MN; The Andy Griffith Show statue in Raleigh's Pullen Park; a bronze statue of Bob Newhart commemorating his role as Dr. Robert Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show in Chicago and most recently, a tribute to the beloved series Bewitched with a life-size statue depicting a magical view of character Samantha Stevens, played by actress Elizabeth Montgomery, in Salem MA. Fans can visit TVLand.com to see photos, virtual tours of the statues as well as streaming video of some of the dedications.
Studio EIS, a three-dimensional design and sculpture studio in New York founded by brothers Ivan and Elliot Schwartz, is creating the life-sized bronze sculpture. The studio also created The Andy Griffith Show statue, the statue commemorating Bob Newhart's role as Dr. Robert Hartley on The Bob Newhart Show and the statue of Samantha Stevens from Bewitched.
Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. has granted permission for this special tribute and is involved in the approval process of the sculpture.

GOSH! Another lousy line-up change! The only thing consistent with their schedule is that it changes on a monthly basis!
I give up !!!
Yippee! According to TheLink, TV Land has acquired one of the new shows that he was hinting at a few weeks ago. These were the hints
2. One from the 1960s (which I believe is black and white crossing over into color)
3. Another from the 1960s which I believe is all color.
4. One from the 1970s.
They were going to acquire the 50s B&W Gunsmoke, but it fell through.
Please....let it be one of the 1960s shows..
Dennis Dubois
07-21-2007, 11:13 AM
The 60s show from B+W in to color is a very hard one, because many shows that started in the early 60s transferred to color between 1965 and 1966. I would hope it was Petticoat Junction or The Beverly Hillbillies. They could also be getting Jeannie or Bewitched back, or My Three Sons. The possibilities are endless.
As for the all 60s color show, they could pick up That Girl on the main network instead of just online.
And the 70s show I wish would be Maude.
TVLand Fan, did TheLink mean that eventually three shows would be acquired, or just one of the three hints would be acquired?
Originally, there were four shows that were being negotiated for acquisition (sometimes negotiations can fall through) according to TheLink (there was a long discussion about it somewhere on the 'Ask TVLTheLink' board. One was a 50s show, one was a 60s transition show, one was a 60s show, and one was a 70s show.
The 50s show wsa the B/W Gunsmoke, apparently they couldn't come to terms with the syndicator and it is now off. One of the other three 'hinted' shows has been acquired and the other two are still in negotiation. So we'll see..
Pavanbadal, do you have any idea about this?? LOL
Update: According to TheLink, he should be able to say something by mid-week.

Sure. Another hint was they were all 30 minutes.
Hmmm...Beverly Hillbillies ran 62-71
Petticoat Junction was 63-70
Get Smart was 65-70

True, Bewitched and Jeannie could be it. I say Bewitched if it was one of the two, it seemed to do better than Jeannie.
Another could be My Three Sons...

I can't wait to see.Yeah, I agree, but hey, it's something from the 60s, they could use some new 60s shows DESPERATELY. I believe TheLink said they wanted to renew Bewitched, but the syndicator wanted too much money and I guess it wasn't that big of a ratings hit to may a whole lot for.

Bewitched
Beverly Hillbillies
Courtship of Eddie's Father
Bill Cosby Show
Petticoat Junction
Doris Day Show
Get Smart
My Three Sons
Hogan's Heroes
I Dream of Jeannie
That Girl
Family Affair
Here's Lucy
All shows that started in the 60s and ended in the early 70s off the top of my head. No more posts from me on this topic now. And again, you're not hearing any of this from me. So don't post this list or any of this anywhere.

I would really like to have "Bewitched" and "Jeannie" back. "Get Smart" would be nice too. Thinking in TV Land terms, "Beverly Hillbillies" would most likely get the most ratings. Can't wait to find out!

Jeannie and Bewitched are my two favorite sitcoms, so I hope they come back. I'd also love to see Family Affair, it's been a long time since I've seen it.
Scratch Bewitched. If you read a post by TheLink about it, it sounds like there's not much chance for it..

The board for the show and requests for it have shown an increase in the past couple of months. Unfortunately, the raw number of posts and requests hasn't risen to "significant" numbers. Posts are usually around 70 per weeks and requests slightly less than 100. This starts discussions of the show in programming department meetings, but, doesn't get it over the hurdle of past ratings being in decline when the show's contract ended.

TVLand should be called "commercial land",because they air more-a lot more -commercials than they used to,and a lot less show than in the past. Also it should be called "ultra, ultra, ultra modern land",what with the addition of "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition" and I presume, more 1990's-2000's shows.A classic?Maybe in the future. But now?I think not.I always thought TVLand was a network for classic TV from the 1950's,1960's,1970's and 1980's.I guess I was wrong.I have heard also, that TVLand will soon add another 1960's show to their roster.Hopefully,TVLand will become LESS "ultra, ultra, ultra modern",and back to the way they USED to be.Only time will tell.

I'd LOVE to see Get Smart again, I think it's a very logical choice. But it let them down when they acquired it back in 2001, so who knows. Gomer Pyle could be a good candidate as well.

I believe the last time Petticoat Junction aired on TV Land was during the
5th Anniversary Weekend in 2001.
it's probably the Hillbillies. According to TheLink, 'so few' 60s shows have been a big success on the network in the past, that there arent many they would consider airing again. When the Hillbillies left they were still airing a lot at good times, unlike many of the others.
I really hope not though - it's been on continuously for so long and is still on WGN. I'd rather something fresher that hasn't been on for a couple of years, but oh well....at least its not on DVD

I won't be able to say anything about the acquired show other to say that it has been an oft-requested older show. The contract is about 90% complete and I can't say anything until it is fully-executed. There also are plans in the works for a major anniversary celebration for an older show later this fall. I'm hoping that I'll have details in the next week or two.
For "Leave It to Beaver" fans, I have some great news. The 50th anniversary celebration will include airing of the show's seldom seen (I believe it was last aired in 1967) pilot, "It's A Small World" and there will be a DVD (Seasons 1 and 2) sweepstakes. I'll have further details in the next couple of weeks.
Often requested. I know Bewitched and Mister Ed are always the most requested shows on the boards, usually..
And the anniversary show - wonder what that could be? Wonder if it'll be a 35th annievrsary, 40th anniversary, 45th, or what. Is that Laugh In maybe? I know it was supposed to come sometime in the fall but last I heard it would be early next year until it came.

It's probably just something for TV Land to air that could get them advertising on other networks. besides that, I wouldn't see any other reason for them to air it other than to annoy every single one of their viewers.
And, I doubt it would be Bewitched or I Dream of Jeannie, because both are almost all released on DVD, plus TV Land seems little interested in picking them up for some reason.

No, TV Land and CMT are both Viacom networks. They can share shows if they want to. Usually TV Land would only air something from a sister net if it is related to classic TV.

I completely forgot about that. I just wish TV Land would focus more on one era of telelvision, instead of television from 1950's to encore telecasts. Even if they just stuck to airing classics from 50's-80's, I'd be fine with that. But now they're getting shows like EM:HE and Scrubs, which are still currently airing new episodes.
I completely agree Roseanne - they have pretty much lost it. There is zero coherence in the programming...um what does David Steinberg, Back to the Grind, The Addams Family, Scrubs, EM: HE, Just Shoot Me, Designing Women, I Love Lucy, Elvis Presley, The Negotiator, Top Hat, Pleasantville, Andy Griffith, The Munsters, this CMT thing, and even I Pity the Fool have in common? I swear they've lost it. I don't care who they're trying to target, what their 'research' and whatnot says, but I just don't see this strange hodgepodge of programming going over well with the average TV Land viewer. If it's successful, by all means, I'll be right here to admit I'm wrong, but I just don't see it happening. Maybe they're just looking for an excuse to air modern programming, who knows. What's next? Law and Order? Days of Our Lives? Family Feud? A Day in the life of Larry Jones???

I wouldn't be surprised if they started getting current shows that don't appeal baby boomers, just because the network thinks the show is "cool". I swear, sometimes I think this network is run by a bunch of 5-year olds. Their ratings have been slipping this year, and all their doing is screwing it up even more.

I'm so glad I never watch this horrible channel anymore. I remember saying in a thread 6 months ago that "once they start airing extra commercials they will never stop". So far looks like I am correct in that I see people still complaining about odd starting times for shows. What a joke of a channel that once was great. Thatnk goodness for my ever growing dvd collection.
I wouldn't be surprised if they started getting current shows that don't appeal baby boomers, just because the network thinks the show is "cool". I swear, sometimes I think this network is run by a bunch of 5-year olds. Their ratings have been slipping this year, and all their doing is screwing it up even more.
Yes, the viewers are leaving in droves it looks like. Is it so hard to get some new shows that haven't been airing lately (Mary Tyler Moore, Get Smart, Gomer Pyle, Bob Newhart, Alice, Honeymooners, Mister Ed, heck, even bring back Dick Van Dyke, Mister Ed or Bewitched/IDOJ)???????? Or is their idea of 'fresh' shows the likes of What's Happening Now and bringing back The Munsters which aired to death for 6 or 7 years? Then these thoughtless originals (David Steinberg, Back to the Grind, Chasing Farrah, I Pity the Fool)....the stale, out in the left field move to air movies on Friday nights?? Then last, bringing the played out Cosby Show that is only airing on countless locals and three other networks to TV Land? Is that their idea of a new show? Let's not forget Extreme Makeover, Scrubs, Just Shoot Me, and Designing Women coming. What is wrong with them? Then they keep re-arranging the same stale, overplayed shows around on the schedule thinking that will help. The boards at TVLand.com are flooded with negative feedback, but do they listen? No! They just cover the costs of their mistakes by airing more commercials at night it seems.
They need to focus on 60s/70s shows with a sprinkling of 50s and 80s. Let N@N, TBS, Lifetime, etc focus on the late 80s-now and ION is doing great with the 80s shows, once they expand they should do 70s and 80s shows with a sprinkling of 60s and early 90s. These networks should get a concept, focus on perfecting it, and stick with it and stop going all over the place.
Sorry for the long rant and repeating myself....just so frusturating!!

See, I can take all the originals. I mean, they air originally in one slot: Wednesday at 10:00. It's only one slot. And, I understand that the network needs to have original programming to keep it's advertisers happy. But, what I hate is that they air the originals over and over. Lately, it hasn't been that bad, but I remember it being really bad when they had I Pity the Fool. After they aired the new episode, it would be aired again like 5 times a day, every single day of the week.
I don't mind the originals as long as they are something informative that has to do with TV in a documentary-type format; like Inside TV Land, TV Land Confidential, Myths and Legends, etc. But the things like Back to the Grind, I Pity the Fool, David Steinberg, Chasing Farrah, etc I have a problem with.

I plitched an idea to TVLand for what I thought would be an interesting Inside TVLand, about the history of TVLogos(you know, the Universal TV logos, the Screen Gems/Columbia Pictures TV logos-the one with the music, circles and lines used in the early 1960'sbefore the curves logo of the mid 1960's),the two (yes, there WERE two)Filmways logos, the 20th Century Fox logos, and the Warner Bros.TVlogos, but nothing came of it.At least THIS idea I had had something to do with TV.

Honestly, I don't mind much. There's not many episodes to get through, and I've been watching the same episodes now over and over, so it doesn't bother me much. But, with that happening, I'm gonna guess TV Land is gonna give us a big overhaul for the October schedule, just as a hunch.

JackYou got that right. Most of the shows TVLand airs have been overplayed on TVLand .Remember when last year "The Munsters"and "The Addams Family"returned to TVLand,(after a brief hiatus)and TVLand proclaimed "The people have spoken?"Then this August, they banished them and "Green Acres"from their comfy 5 days a week slot to a once a week slot on Weekends? And why do we (and DO we)need "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition""Just Shoot Me" and "Scrubs"?Suppose THEY should do badly in the ratings? And as for the movies, there are a LOT of movies from the 1950's-1970's(no 1980's and beyond, because anymore that's ALL TVLand carries anymore in the way of moviesThey definitely need some fresh, clean, unpolluted air at TVLand.

I have a suggestion for TVLand powers that be,who have the FINAL SAY as to what airs and when(and yes,I DO realize this). You air a lot of series. And my suggestion is to spread them out a little.Because airing shows back to back(yes,I know OTHER stations do it,too-Hallmark,for example)can and does get a bit boring. And there are a LOT of shows(preferably from the 1960's)that TVLand COULD air.And you could(if you wanted to)cut down on the number of original programming(some of them;TVLand Confidential,Inside TVLand)are pretty interesting. But the OTHERS(Chasing Farrah,Back to the Grind,I Pity the Fool) are downright boring.

It has been said before that airing the shows in double takes help ratings increase from one episode to the next. If people are watching the first episode, they're gonna watch the second episode, and other people are too. At least that is what TV Land is thinking, and I"m sure it works, since most of their shows are double takes.

TV Land has hired someone new as VP of Programming:
Former BBC America vice president of scheduling Scott Gregory has joined the TV Land team.
Gregory was named VP of programming for TV Land, where he will be responsible for scheduling strategies and promotional strategies in partnership with the network’s ad-sales and marketing teams.
“Scott’s proven track record and impressive credentials will be integral in furthering the TV Land brand,” said Jaclyn Rann Cohen, senior VP of programming at TV Land, in a prepared statement. “His considerable experience will be instrumental in introducing new shows to superserve our baby-boomer audience.”

The show is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Extreme Makeover is a different show and totally focuses on another thing. Home Edition did decent on TV Land, I believe. Not sure of the exact ratings yet but word is it held all of TAGS's numbers.

TV Land scored big with the special Myths and Legends: Elvis and the documentary Elvis by the Presleys on Aug. 16, the day of Elvis Presley's death. The network scored double-digit gains in demo rating and delivery for their premieres. And Myths scored a triple-digit increase among all TV viewers.
