Chris Rock will make his first guest appearance next fall on the CW's "Everybody Hates Chris," the show he created and produces for the network.
CW Entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said Rock - who is the show's narrator - will play a guidance counselor in the first episode.
That's a twist, because when the show started, co-creator and writer Ali LeRoi said he wouldn't be on air. "Chris is actually a distraction on camera, in a very real way ... you won't see him [on the show]," LeRoi told members of the Television Critics Association in 2005.
"Everybody Hates Chris," inspired by the comedian's childhood experiences, has been renewed for a third season. It will keep its current Monday, 8 p.m., time slot.
