I will take Carl Winslow. He seemed more fun and had more personality than snobby, upitty Phillip Banks.

Did you see that episode where James Avery walked on the set of Family Matters at the end?

Carl Winslow because he was a great father and Phillip seemed a little to harsh to the kids.

Carl seemed more like a fmaily man. Phillip seemed more interested in his carrer, I'd take Carl over Phil.

Carl Winslow!....He was really fun. And a really good family man. Not to mention he was really funny and over the top, at times....I also liked that he could be funny, mad, nice, a little mean, and silly all in one episode. To me, Philip had these qualities too, but it wasn't the same. He seemed too 1 dimensional (sp?) to me.

Carl Winslow was way more likable than Phillip Banks. Phillip banks was unapproachable, he put his career before his family, and had snobs for children in Hilary and Carlton. At least he had a wife to put him in check and remind him of his roots.

i also liked the chemestry between carl n harriett they had great chemisty together she also had a come back for carl when they fought or anything.

That's true. The first Vivian, Janet Hubert Whitten was much better, they fit better together as far as chemistry on set goes and I enjoyed the first mom with Phil and in general, better, then Daphne Maxwell Reid. The first wife reminded Phil of who he was inside, and DMR on set was just a snob and cared only about herself, in my mind. She was a kind woman off set though, I'm just talking as far as a couple and if they fit each other or not.

I still would like to know why the first Vivian left.

Phillip Banks was more serious and dignified, but then he didn't have Urkel hanging around his house. Now THAT would've made for quite a crossover episode! :D
