LOL. This website was started 3 years ago and I can't believe it's having this kind of impact. It has a message board too check it out. Found this site through New York Daily News

That site is pretty funny.
Is there really such thing as bad publicity though?
I think Sanjaya has it made after this!
He'll be another William Hung!
It kind of makes you wonder though...these doofs at VFTW are doing just what AI wants them to...watch and vote. Not neccesarily for the best, lol, but still....they are further showing how powerful and popular AI is by giving them thousands of votes and viewership every week, despite that they are voting for the worst. I don't know, I kind of find it ironic. I mean, it has the capibility do bring AI down, but still...I think he can only go so far.

Exactly Solomon! You hit it on the head. That is why without actual scores, AI is really a popularity contest. If the producers/judges want the best singers to win, etc. then they should develop a different voting system, such as one call per phone line and maybe have the judges issue scores so that the scores AND the votes determine the winner. Lowest scores received won't get to qualify for call-in votes.

That's true, I think that'll be too drastic of a change.

You think that AI will remain as is? What if Sanjaya wins? Do you think AI will or should reconsider how the voting system is?
The other day on Bill O'Reilly, he had a discussion abt Howard Stern and how he is affecting the outcome of the show simply by telling his fans to vote for Sanjaya. Bill had a so-called attorney on the show and she didn't even know what she was talking abt...she blabbed on and on abt how Howard Stern should get in trouble for what he is doing, his fans are "under his spell", basically defrauding the show somehow, etc. It made no sense whatsoever, even Bill was laughing saying Howard couldn't be held liable for what he was doing.

I don't think Sanjaya will win. I only think he'll get so far. At least I hope so!!!
If he DOES win though, that'll be the end of Idol. :(
And I don't think they should reconsider their voting system, because then it wouldn't really be American Idol, you know? I like how WE get to vote on who we think is best. I've heard several rumors and speculations about how they could possibly change the voting process, and I really don't think it's a good idea. The show would never be the same.

First off, Sanjaya will not win, but I do think that after this American Idol will stop putting the obviously less talented gimmick-type "kids" through to the Top 24. Think the John Stevens or Kevin Covais-type. Don't get me wrong, I liked both of them, but it's obvious why they were there.
Second, I really am not sure on how much of an impact Howard Stern or VFTW are having on his place in the competition. I strongly, strongly dislike everything Stern stands for (and that's putting it lightly) but I think you can put most of the blame for this on all the 11 year old girls of America. Sanjaya actually does have a very large fanbase, VFTW and it's supporters only exaggerate it further.
Finally, American Idol really isn't a singing competition. It's the search for the next superstar, or essentially, a popularity contest. Always has been, and it always will be.

I love Howard. ;)
He is having an impact, already a discussion has occurred on FOX News three times abt this, Bill O' Reilly has discussed this, it is everywhere.
The problem with AI is they do what you stated. They put these gimmicky acts that end up on television during the auditions. Now, they know damn well most of those people can't sing for sh*t, yet, they pass them through for the laughs, the publicity and the ratings.
It is also the judges' fault for telling someone who can't sing "you're going to Hollywood".
Howard is not to blame. AI is.

I agree. The judges also passed up some people who really could sing, or at least I think so. A person who can't sing isn't as fun to watch as someone who can sing, although the contrast is useful sometimes -*coughs:SANJAYA*
Not that I think Sanjaya should be on anymore.

The problem with that is, his audition was actually very good, and he seemed to be a very good vocalist from what I've heard of him from pre-AI.
Take that as you will...
Also, the question wasn't whether or not Stern was having an impact, but how much of one he is having at this point. Judging from the vote totals I've been hearing, Sanjaya would still be in this competition whether or not he had that guy riding his bandwagon or not. That may and probably will change as the competition gets tighter, but as of now it's likely only exaggerating the situation.

I agree. I've been saying the same thing to people at IDF over and over again. The judges put people through based on what they've seen at their auditions and in Hollywood and they expect them to bring it like that and perhaps step it up during the semis and finals. Sanjaya was one of my favorites during the auditions and I really wanted him to make the top 24 but sadly he's failed to deliver.
