If they showed the "lost episodes" there wouldn't be a problem, but the "Classic 39" would get old pretty fast!

Heres the entire list

1. Bewitched
2. Petticoat Junction
3. Hazel
4. I Dream of Jeannie
5. The Honeymooners
6. Gilligan’s Island
7. The Dick Van Dyke Show
8. Mister Ed
9. Get Smart
10. Batman

Hopefully at least two or three of these will show up this year, that would be so great.

TV Land needs some One Day at a Time, Diff'rent Strokes, Maude. They need more '70s programming to join MASH, Three's Company, Sanford & Son, Jeffersons, and Good Times.

As from the list, Bewitched, Gilligan and Batman would be nice to have back.

It'd be nice if they brought Petticoat Junction back. It was a hit back when it aired 8 or 9 years ago. Get Smart, Bewitched and Jeannie would all be great to see again.

Why? They do very well for them. Doesn't make sense to remove them just because they are on DVD or have been on for years. If you were running the channel, you wouldn't remove them.

Another show TV Land should add: Alice.

I SO AGREE. The last time I seen Alice on tv was when TNN aired it as THE NASHVILLE NETWORK. I have season one on DVD.

I wonder if they would consider Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.? With the success of TAGS after all of these years, seems like it would be worth a second run. Wonder if it has a chance?

Gomer Pyle didn't really do that well when it aired on TV Land the first time. That's what I gathered from the way it was normally treated throughout most of its last run. With the popularity of TAGS seems like it'd do better.

I still hate they let Bewitched go. Maybe it will return some day, I doubt Jeannie ever will though, it didn't seem to do as well as 'BW', which didn't do outstanding. Plus Jeannie had a run in the late 1990s also, I don't see them trying it for a third time.
Bewitched seemed to have a moderately-successful run on TV Land, but I think TheLink said the schedule was 'too crowded' for it, Jeannie, Dick Van Dyke, Munsters, etc and that's why they weren't renewed. It's usually one of or the most requested show at TVLand.com.

Good list. I'd kill to see Petticoat Junction back. I don't know why they've never bothered to try and get it back.

Gilligan's Island would be nice to see again, too.

Mister Ed, although I love it, just had a 3 year run, I'd prefer another show. Same for DVD and Bewitched.

Hazel! So glad it was in the top five. Same for Honeymooners. I believe TV Land aired both the Classic 39 and the Lost episodes, though I'm not sure.

Tv land seriously needs to take out MASH and Sanford and son. The honeymooners would look good on TV Land. I hope that actually happens.

If TV LAND keeps airing the same shows over and over sooner or later ratings will drop especially since their aren't many new sitcoms being made. We'll be stuck with the same tired ones forever.

Petticoat Junction should come back.

1. It would do well paired with Green Acres, it's spin-off
2. The show was placed on TVLand from Day 1 back in 1996 at 8PM. It did very well for a few years in that time slot alone.

It probably got removed in 2000 to make room for new additions. I can't see why it was dropped and hasn't made it back yet.

Mary Tyler Moore, Maude, Rhoda, Family Affair, and My Three Sons should all eventually come back as well.

Another show TV Land should add: Alice.

I think that show would not do well simply because they would treat it the way they treated 227, Benson, and a few other shows they added: refuse to keep it in a steady time slot. That's an automatic recipe for failure.

It'd be great to see Petticoat Junction back on TV Land. I have a feeling it may come back sometime soon, I don't know why. Same for Gilligan's Island. Hey, I had a feeling The Jeffersons would come back a long time ago in 2005 and after The Munsters left last year I felt it would come back, so maybe I'm on to something, LOL. Seriously, one can only hope. They need some new shows, that's for sure.

Maybe I am in the minority here but I would love to see them get rid of all those western shows and Star Trek. I would much prefer to see some of the shows from that list instead. I would like to see Maude, I have not seen that show in years.
Honeymooners would be a great weekend show if nothing else. I would also like to see some more of Lucys shows, I believe she did 2 other sitcoms after I Love Lucy.
I would also like to see some older shows like - cant think of the name of the show but the main character and the show itself was about a black nurse with a young son. I saw the show years ago on a local channel and liked it but never could remember the name. Also I wish they would bring back the old N@N line up with Patty Duke Show, Donna Reed, Mr. Ed, SCTV etc to TVLand.

1. Bewitched

4. I Dream of Jeannie
5. The Honeymooners
6. Gilligan’s Island
7. The Dick Van Dyke Show
8. Mister Ed
9. Get Smart
10. Batman

Hopefully at least two or three of these will show up this year, that would be so great.

If Solomon hates them, you just know TV Land is doing something right!

As for me, I love all of these shows, except for Hazel, which I barely remember as a child, and back then I didn't care for it so I don't think I'm really missing much. Most of the others are also available in Canada on different channels. "Mr. Ed" is a nice addition since it doesn't get shown very often, so at least there's some variety there, which should satisfy those who complain about seeing the same old stuff every year. "Petticoat Junction" is a nice pick up too, especially if the black and white episodes finally become available for syndication. That would be a real coup, but I don't think that's likely to happen yet.

Hey, I wonder if they're going to add Laverne and Shirley. If the original they're considering doing on Cindy and Penny happens, it'd be stupid to do it and not show the 70s version.

Pavan

True, but currently Laverne & Shirley is licensed by Lifetime Real Women, and they air it four times a day.

Any idea how long LRW has it for? Didn't it come to Lifetime in 2004 or something? I'd assume it's either a 3 or 4 year deal ... maybe 5. How long does Lifetime usually contract their shows for? Seems like they do it for a while.

storrs19
03-22-2007, 05:33 PM
Yes, for some reason Canada is not afraid to show shows older than 15 years. In the USA there is a big stigma attached to doing that except for the chosen few (ILL, TAGS, LITB, and MASH). I am not holding my breath for TVLand to add any classic shows that they or N@N used to show. I just don't see it happening again.

clj2
03-22-2007, 05:54 PM
If they announce any acquisitions tomorrow, I'm NOT getting my hopes up like in '05 and '06. I'll just expect late 70s-early 80s sitcoms (which I don't really care for) and nothing from the 60s (Bewitched, Get Smart, Petticoat Junction, Gilligan's Island, etc) or early-mid 70s (MTM, Bob Newhart, Room 222, etc). No use getting disappointed again for the third year in a row. Some 60s/70s dramas would be nice.
