I would LOVE to find out whatever happened to Marilyn Hassett. She played real-life handicapped ex-skier Jill Kinmont in the two Other Side of the Mountain movies in the 1970s, won a Golden Globe and appeared in shlocky B-movies and occasional TV guest spots throughout the '80s. Then -- nothing. Ms. Hassett was a good actress and had beautiful hair!! I'd love to know where she is and what she looks like now.

I also wondered whatever happened to Lynn-Holly Johnson, who played ice skaters in Ice Castles and For Your Eyes Only. Then I read she gave up acting to become a full-time wife and mother.

Who else??

Lynn also appeared in a men's magazine, I believe Playboy or Penthouse. Not sure.

Glynnis O'Conner. Remember her? She was romantically involved with Robby Benson for a long time. She made many movies including Boy in the Plastic Bubble with John Travolta (my man).

Let me add Scott Colomby who played Valerie Bertinelli's boyfriend on ONE DAY AT A TIME and also was her boyfriend in real life...he was that young Italian guy that she dated in the early seasons of the show. He was HOT!

I remember when everybody was talking about Guy Pearce, the Australian actor who made a big splash here in 1997's "L.A Confidential." They all said he was going to be the next big superstar.
Sure, he's done some good movies since, like "Ravenous" and "Momento" and he does keep busy, but he never achieved that level of superstardom Hollywood said he would.

I remember reading that. She was also in The Watcher in the Woods with Bette Davis. Davis (who was nothing if not frank) said she was really impressed by Johnson's acting abilities at such a young age. She said it was probably due to her athletic training, (she was a professional ice skater first), that made her so disciplined.

There's one actress I remember that no one else seems to, Sarah Patterson. She had a great debut in The Company of Wolves (one of Stephen Rea's first movies too), but seemed to find little success. She was such a stunning little girl, I'd love to see what she looks like now. Apparently she also gave it up to get married and have kids.

He's still around. I think he went back to Australia, so we haven't heard from him in awhile. He's in Factory Girl right now, which I haven't seen... ;)

I love him. He was also in The Time Machine, The Count of Monte Cristo, and... lest we forget, The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert

True, he didn't vanish like others in this thread. His career just didn't hit megastardom like it was supposed to.

Okay, I got one!

Klinton Splisbury.

Never heard of him? He starred in "The Legend Of The Lone Ranger," a 1981 big budget big screen remake of the popular Lone Ranger adventure series.

Unfortunatly, the movie was a ginormous flop, and Klinton Spilsbury rode off into the sunset, never to appear in anthing again.

This film is the only credit he ever had.

I wonder what ever happened to Robby Benson? He played in several movies
in the 70's but then seemed to vanish. Also one of the stars of Alias Smith &
Jones, Ben Murphy, disappeared too. They were both pretty well know back
in the 70's.

Robby Benson now works behind the scenes. As a director, producer, writer, etc.

That's right. He was also the voice of the Beast in the Beauty and the Beast videos. He also played the father of Melissa Joan Hart on Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

I believe that she was dianosed as bipolar in the mis 90's and quit acting.

Oh yes! I really like her! She made numerous tv appearances in the 70's. Among these was Gunsmoke, Night Gallery, and the mini-series's The Dark Secret of Harvest Home ,Testimony Of Two Men, and Beulah Land . I looked her up on IMDB.com and it showed that her last tv appearance was on Murder She Wrote in 1991.

Wasn't Josh Hartnett supposed to be the next Leonardo DiCaprio? I don't think that ever happened.

I think Judy Strangis qualifies as another for this thread. You may remember her for her role as Helen Loomis is Room 222 or as Dyna Girl in Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. From IMDB: She gave up her career in front of the camera because she was being stalked. This led to her becoming involved in voice-over work.

Here's another one -- Judy Carne from Laugh-In. Several other ladies on that show went on to big time stardom, i.e. Lily Tomlin and Goldie Hawn. Judy Carne was the sock it to me girl and went through an ugly and highly publicized split from then husband Burt Reynolds. After leaving Laugh-In she seemed to disappear. :(

Here's an interesting fact regarding Burt Reynolds and Judy Carne:

Burt Reynolds Was the first actor ever asked to guest-host The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson Prior to Reynolds, only comedians had been invited. His first (?) guest was ex-wife Judy Carne, whom he hadn't spoken to in over six years after a very bitter divorce.

I used to love the classic NBC soap, Another World (1964-99). I have several soap books that mention the huge scandal in 1975 when three very popular actors (including two who had been on the show since day one) were fired.

Jacqueline Courtney and George Reinholt played the show's supercouple, Alice Matthews and Steve Frame, and were considered the stars of the show. Virginia Dwyer played Alice's mother, Mary Matthews. Both ladies had been with the show since the first day. Mr. Reinholt was apparently a very demanding, temperamental actor who often badmouthed other actors and the crew to the press. Virginia Dwyer would often rewrite her lines on camera to the fury of the writing staff and producer, and then-head writer Harding Lemay considered Ms. Courtney to be a simply bad actress, as at the time the show was hiring more and more theatre trained actors to play pivotal roles.

So in 1975, Ms. Dwyer's and Mr. Reinholt's characters were killed off (even though Steve Frame would "return from the dead", this time played by a pre-All My Children David Canary), and Ms. Courtney's Alice was recast. The on-screen lovers were then hired by rival ABC soap One Life To Live, but lightning didn't strike twice.

Ms. Dwyer, who had starred on several soaps prior to AW, never acted on TV again (according to IMDb) and nothing else is really known about her. Ms. Courtney reprised her role as Alice in the mid-80s but left again after about a year. She too, has seemingly left acting behind. Mr. Reinholt left OLTL after only a couple of years, came out of the closet, and has also retired from acting. I wonder where they are now...

He appeared for one season on DALLAS playing Peter Richards. He was Sue Ellen's young lover. He was up against good ol' J.R. Ewing so of course, he only lasted one season.

Another one I thought of was Lisa Gerritson, who played Bess Lindstrom on MTM and of course, Phyllis. While many of the other MTM actors went on to stardom, she just disappeared. Whatever happened to her??

I remember her from My World and Welcome to it. I read somewhere a few years ago that she quit acting, got married and gave birth to triplets.

Katharine Ross

She's married to Sam Elliott and I know they have at least one kid. I think she's pretty much put her career on the backburner. We still see Sam every now and then (remember him in the Big Labowski?)

Kind of related, kinda not: I have several "albums to purchase" lists floating about - been doing that for years now. Inexplicably, one from about a decade ago has "Robby Benson" written on a blank page. No album title, no notes about why his name is there, no indication of when I wrote it, just the name. I have yet to figure out why it's there as I'm not a fan of his music. Strange.

Anyway, Hilary Thompson is an actress who faded out of sight during the late-1980's. So did Alicia Fleer.

Linc (Clarence Williams III) of course played Prince's father in Purple Rain. I know he has continued to do a lot of work since.

Julie (Peggy Lipton) divorced Quincy Jones, I don't know what she has done, but she keeps busy.

Mike, I haven't a clue.

I know Katharine Ross has still made movies - but nowhere near as much as she used to. She really did slow down since her marriage.
