To quote VotefortheWorst.com, "Let the train wrecks begin!" And they should know. The site that has made a name for itself by dogging and taunting "American Idol," urging the public to vote for a contestant it deems as "the worst," is at it again.
On its site are a series of pictures of someone they identify as semi-finalist Antonella Barba of Point Pleasant, N.J., that are, um, probably shots she'd rather not have floating around the Internet, including one of her on the toilet and another of her making an obscene gesture.
Barba was named by Yahoo! Buzz the semi-finalist most researched by its search engine. She gained fame during the competition from a cheesecake video "Idol" ran of her and her best friend and co-contestant, Amanda Coluccio, frolicking in the surf.
The pair also gained notoriety for what some saw as their contributing to the elimination of Idol wannabe Baylie Brown, a promising 16-year-old who joined the two for the group sing. (Coluccio was dismissed during a later round.)
Will the photos affect Barba's pursuit of the "American Idol" title? A Fox spokeswoman said that the network declined to comment.
During season two, an early favorite, Frenchie Davis, was removed from the competition after racy pictures of her surfaced on the Internet. The 12 female semi-finalists are scheduled to perform Wednesday night at 8 on FOX/5.
