I have enjoyed quite a few NW movies like Rebel w/o A Cause, This Property is Condemned, West Side Story, Miracle on 34th St. The only one I really didn't care for was Marjorie Morningstar, the sole reason because I hated the ending. I would LOVE to see The Blue Veil and Chicken Every Sunday when she was still a little girl.
My fave Natalie movie of all time is Love With The Proper Stranger. She plays such a strong, yet vulnerable young woman and absolutely sizzles with leading man Steve McQueen. They both nailed the roles perfectly. Natalie was nominated for an Oscar for the role of Angie but lost.

Splendor in the Grass is my fave movie of hers as an adult. Miracle on 34th Street is my fave with her as a child.

Yes, finally a Natalie Wood thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
I love them all, it's really hard to choose. But my top five are
1.) Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice(It was totally out of her element to do a movie like this but she did it so well!)
2.)Love with the Proper Stranger(A very powerful movie and due to my former classmates from drama class, no she did not overact in this movie!)
3.) From Here to Eternity(1979 T.V Movie)-Much better than the original hands down!
4.) West Side Story-I wish they would have used her real singing voice, she may be no Christina Aguriela but she did alright.
5.) The Last Married Couple in America-This movie was released in 1980, a year before her murder---oops, I mean her "accident". It's kind of spooky to watch considering she would be dead within a year, but she's was amazingly beautiful in this movie.
I'm pissed that she isn't given her due like Liz Taylor(her friend by the way.) But judging by how Elvis and Lucille Ball's family is pimping their 'idol status' by selling them on everything but McDonald's happy meal toys, I'll rather keep her memory on the DL. It's a shame that most people know her for that god awful movie "Rebel" and her mur--"accident."

Natalie is sure underrated. I LOVE the fashions and hairstyles she wore, too. I'm happy her daughter Natasha is helping carry on her legacy.
TRIVIA: Richard Gregson, Natalie's ex and Natasha's father, wrote the screenplay to the 1979 Elizabeth Montgomery TV flick, "Jennifer: A Woman's Story". :)

I truly loved her hairstyles, especially when she grew her hair out, a different look but I loved it.
BTW: Richard Gregson can go to hell, on a scholarship!!!!!

I would list Splendor as a favorite, but I can't stand Warren, he's a jerkoff to me.
Miracle on 34th Street is her best movie. She and everyone else in the cast (Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwynn, John Payne) were all on top of their game - and she held it all together.
Love With a Proper Stranger is my personal favorite, but I think Miracle is the better movie.

Tatiana, were those Natalie's vocals in Gypsy?? I know at the last minute her vocals were dubbed in WSS, so I'm curious.

Yes. You can also hear her singing on a T.V movie she did with Robert Wagner called "The Affair". Can you believe that my old drama teacher(who wasn't a big fan of hers, he always made that known to us.) thought she sounded like s**t? She's no Whitney or Mariah but come on, get her a little credit.
BTW: My little sister was named after her, my mother wanted to name me Natalie, but Tatiana was also a Wood name too, so she named me that. Natalie and I have some things in common;)

I adore WSS, My whole high school career, all I wanted was to play Maria but my stupid drama teacher hated anything Natalie Wood with a passion, so WSS and Splendor in the Grass were out until I went to acting camp during the summer until I was seventeen.

Sorry, I gotta agree with him on that one. She was a great, great actress (even as a kid), but she was not a good singer. She carried the tune okay, but I thought she should have been dubbed. I know she wanted to do her own singing in West Side Story, but everyone soon realized that just wasn't gonna happen. I'm a fan of her acting, not of her singing.
You know, I had a history teacher in highschool that was the exact opposite of yours. He was completely in love with Natalie Wood, and showed us Rebel Without a Cause, West Side Story, and Gypsy - and he thought everything she did was flawless.

 Least you were kind about her lack of singing skills. This man, totally hated her and even gloated about her death calling her a 'drunken slut', I almost dropped out of that class because he was so rude. I wish I had your teacher, my drama teacher was butthole, he hated Natalie but praised Pia Zedora(sp)..WTF?!

Pia Zadora?? I read that her then-husband, who was some big cheese in Hollywood, was accused of buying her Golden Globe for "Best New Star" in 1980 for the flick "Butterfly". That debacle led to the elimination of the "Best New Star" category from the Golden Globes. Then she made "The Lonely Lady" in 1983 which is still considered one of the worst movies ever made. Pia did have some success as a singer (mostly overseas) and has pretty much vanished into obscurity today.
Natalie Wood, however, is still known and loved, as are many of her films. :)

My drama teacher was a pretty twisted idiot. He always made fun of Natalie and once said, "If it wasn't for her sleeping around with anyone and anywhere, she wouldn't have became a big star". He didn't think that she deserved parts in "Rebel" "WSS" and "Bob, Carol, Ted, and Alice". He said before that 'I bet my house Natalie Wood hadn't even met an hispanic, better yet a black person unless they were cleaning her whore house", and my drama teacher was white!

Wow. Okay, that guy has serious issues if he takes this dislike of a long-dead actress THAT far. That's just disturbing. You know, there are plenty of actresses I don't like, but I'd never say things like that about them. That guy really needs some anger management
And Natalie Wood was actually a minority when she was around too. She was a first generation from an extremely Russian Orthodox family - not many of them around in Hollywood in the 40s.
Yeah, my teacher was pretty cool. He admitted he was hopelessly in love with Natalie Wood and would never recover. His wife seems reconciled to the fact ;)

This man has SERIOUS issues. I almost dropped out of his class for his rude comments. He made those comments since I started high school in 1992(I took drama classes for two years) and they STILL **** me off.
This guy thought Gary Coleman was a better actor, GARY F*****G COLEMAN. Insane..
I looked up to her, especially my mother. My mother was also the first generation from an Russian Orthodox family and moved to the U.S in 1977 after turning 18 just because she wanted to be like her idol. My mother could have passed for her twin, she was devasted when Natalie died. So yeah, by junior year, I have enough of that man so I decided not to continue is stupid class. Come to find out not only did he not like her but he hated Russians. I actually confronted him about it, but he got scared and bolted out the door.

Bravo! That's interesting about your mom - and it makes sense. She was an excellent role model, you never read anything bad about Natalie Wood. Some wondered if she was involved with Warren Beatty/Christopher Walken, but that's it. Compared to the stuff we read about Brittney Spears... Natalie was a lady. Plain and simple. :)

Yes, Natalie was a lady. She was talented, beautiful and gracious. I'm planning on checking out more of her movies from the library. Natalie is truly missed...I wonder what she'd be doing now...:(

Thanks, everyone thought the two(Nat and my mom) looked totally alike even though my mom mostly wore her hair long until the day she died. Natalie Wood wasn't a bad girl like most haters think she was. E True Hollywood story and two biography books painted her as a drunk, pill popping slut(her sister Lana's book on her was pure trash.)

My guess is giving a lot of these actresses a run for their money and finally winning that oscar she was passed over for( )

West Side Story. That is one of my all time favorite movies ever. Granted, I've only seen a few Natalie Wood movies, but that movie is classic and she acts very well in that movie. Except that she doesn't actually sing in the movie, but then again, niether can I... sooooooooo... ain't got much room to say anything less than positive!
Natalie Wood was very beautiful to.

Movies of hers I like- Miracle On 34th Street, Chicken Every Sunday, Rebel Without A Cause, West Side Story, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice, All the Fine Young Cannibals.
But my personal favorite film she is in is The Great Race. She was extremely sexy in that movie.
The Hanna-Barbera cartoon Wacky Races was inspired by the film, Penelope Pitstop was inspired by Natalie Wood's Maggie DuBois.
