I think it will be Jennifer Hudson.
For some reason, I don't think it will be her. I know she is the favorite, but I get a feeling it will be a surprise.

I really can't see anyone but Jennifer getting it, but perhaps this will be the category with the upset.

Abigial Breslin. Itd be cool to see a 10 year old win that big of an award, again. Jennifer woukld be good too. If it IS Abigial I ope she dances to Super Freak on her way to the stage

If she does, she'd be the youngest since 10-year-old Tatum O'Neal won for Paper Moon.

Adriana Barraza. I can't see the academy giving it to a newcomer like Hudson. Unless it was some extraordinary performance like the one done by the gentleman Haing S. Ngor who was a nobody who played in the Killing Fields and won for best supporting actor. His role was harrowing, strong, etc. That was A PERFORMANCE. Singing and/or dancing doesn't cut it for me and I don't see the academy giving that award to her when Adriana Barraza gave a performance that was from the heart. It was compelling.

I can't see Jennifer winning it either. I don't think the Academy would give an American Idol an award like that right away. I could be wrong but she's so new and is mostly known as a singer. I just don't think the Academy is too hip with these singers turned actors. Look how long it took Cher to win an academy award (and she's not a bad actress at all). But like I said, I could totally be wrong.
I really think it'll go to someone like Cate Blanchett or one of those other people (I have no idea who they are so I really can't even comment on them).

Wasn't Cher nominated for Silkwood as well? I think that was in the Supporting Actress category.

Jennifer Hudson gave a powerful performance in Dreamgirls. She is definitely deserving.

I just read in Entertainment Weekly that an actor (whose identity was kept secret) states that "Jennifer Hudson and all that bullsh*t hype..." blah blah blah...
basically he was saying that a lot of the academy members are not impressed by a new-comer/singer and all the hype over her. I guess he isn't going to vote for her.

I think Jennifer Hudson will totally take it. Which I think is fitting, as her performance was fantastic!

Again, TOUCHE!
For some reason I'm thinking it'll go to Cate Blanchett. Mostly because she's an Academy favorite, and then she's backed her nomination with her role in Babel.
Supporting actress tends to go to the dark horse - Juliette Binoche, Macia Gay Harden, etc. So I'd be surprised if it went to Hudson.
