Hi Bill,
I'm still confused about lost episodes. I will try to make this as clear as I can.
OK here goes. I have a 12 tape set of lost episodes and the tapes are labled 29 thru 39. I assumed this meant volumes 29-39 with 2 episodes per tape. Then I saw the dvd sets like the ones on the top of the page. They have volumes 1 thru 24. They also have all the episodes that are on my 12 tape set. Reel . com lists volumes 1 thru 39. I am sooooo confused:crazy: Is the dvd set all the lost episodes out there or are there more? I am trying to collect as many as I can because I have not seen alot of them. I'm sorry to be P.I.T.A. Thanks for any help.
:D

OK, there are 39 volumes of the Lost Episodes on VHS. I'd assume you have the same box set as I do, with volumes 29-39. The rest of the volumes (1-28) were released seperately, why MPI decided to release some in a box set and others seperately is beyond me. Believe it or not, the VHS collection of the Lost Episodes is more complete than the DVD collection. There's a total of 78 in the VHS collection, only 76 made it to the DVD release. But even with the VHS collection being more complete, there's still 27 episodes that are missing all together. MPI has been planning a DVD re-release for the Lost Episodes for some time now, or so they say. It's been mentioned since 2004, when the "Love Letter" sketch was discovered, but there haven't been any updates as of 2007. For more information on the unreleased Lost Episodes, check out my website:

You'll find info on those 27 missing sketches in the "Still Lost" and "1957 Trip To Europe" sections. Hope this helps.

Bill, which 2 episodes are missing from the dvd set. I didn't know this, so I will have to get them. If you have to do a buncha research, then don't worry I'll find it.
Thanks Pal O' Mine

The two episodes missing from the DVD set are "What's The Name" (the musical remake of "What's Her Name") and the 1957 version of "Manager Of The Baseball Team," both of which were mistaken for their original versions on the VHS releases, but then corrected later on. The remake of "Halloween Party" is another one that was mistaken for it's original version, but still has yet to be released.

From what I recall, the easiest way to tell the difference in "Manager of the Baseball Team", is the way the door opens when Norton comes in at the beginning. I don't recall which is which, but the door opens from a different side each time.

In the 1957 version the door knob is on the left hand side, as it was in all remaining and future episodes starting with classic ep #1 in 1955

Also, in the 1957 version, Ralph offers Norton an Old Gold cigarette instead of a cigar (which he offers him in the original version).

The dvd set I just got has "What's The Name" "Halloween Party" and one that is called "Manager Of A Baseball Team" So I guess I have all the episodes except the 27 you spoke about.

Thanks again for all your help.

Those three help make up the 27 missing episodes. I still own the Lost Episodes on VHS, but I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that "What's The Name," the 1954 version of "Halloween Party (For The Boss)" and the 1957 version of "Manager Of The Baseball Team" haven't been released on DVD, regardless of what it says on the packaging. If I'm not mistaken, MPI released "What's Her Name" twice, but labeled it as "What's The Name." If Ralph & Alice don't sing the song "One Of These Days, Pow!" at the end, then it's "What's Her Name." But, as I mentioned, "What's The Name" and the 1957 version of "Manager Of The Baseball Team" are available on VHS. The 1954 remake of "Halloween Party," however, has yet to be released on VHS or DVD, but I believe it is one of two episodes that MPI confirmed would be included in the upcoming re-release (the other being the original version of "Love Letter.")

My VHS copies from MPI of "Manager of the Baseball Team" are both the original skits. The 1957 is listed on the box, but it's the 1953 version because Ralph offers Ed a cigar, not Old Gold cigarettes (who were the sponsors of the Gleason show that season).

Not that I care of not, just being curious, but do they still make Old Gold Cigarettes? For that matter, do they still make Lucky Strike?

What color is the box? MPI did mess that up originally, but they fixed it...I have the re-issue of that volume with the right version.

You know, I was actually wondering that myself after I mentioned Old Gold, but I can't seem to find much information online. They do still make Lucky Strike though, I saw them for sale at a store not too long ago.

I thought I saw Lucky Strike for sale not too long ago at a local drug store (how ironic!) but Old Gold, I have no idea.

I don't know what color the box is, it's boxed away waiting to get moved and unpacked. Once it is I could tell you, but off the top of my head I'll say maybe black????

Hmm...that's weird, my copy's black too. I think T-Greg had a copy with the wrong version on it that had a different color box, that's how we figured out that that volume was re-issued. Then again, MPI could've messed up twice, I wouldn't put it past them...
