Can't wait 'til it finally comes on Nick at nite! They're certainly taking forever to put it on, delaying it several weeks and all. I'm still watching it on pax for now, and will watch it on both.

Did you every find out the reasoning for delaying the marathon, and instead showing a week long marathon of Roseanne?

This is great news! Do you have any idea how Nick@Nite is with editing? Will these airings be better or worse than the ones on Inetwork. I'm aware that both networks probably cut from the episodes-- but just wondering if one network will be doing less of that?..

Canadian network CTV barely removes anything from the airings as far as I know.

I'm really looking forward to Growing Pains on N@N! I know it's on Pax, but I'm ususally working then. I'm a nightowl, though, so these timeslots are more my speed, hehe. The movie idea stinks, IMO, but GP more than makes up for it!

If TvLand Nic@Nite insist on showing movies,i wish they would show the old ABC,CBS and NBC made for tv movies of the 70s and 80s.BTW i forgot what Days were those movies on,like the nbc sunday night movie etc.? I loved some of those movies and when did they start to do away with them, meaning the made for tv movies not the box office ones

thebloodyscot
01-26-2007, 05:15 PM
I think the movie idea stinks too, too many other channels do that already, and already show those movies. And to answer the previous question, I think pax shows 21 minutes of the program, while Nick at nite has it at closer to 22, so they'll show a bit more on there.

Fresh Prince is their highest rated show. They just show Roseanne as much as Fresh Prince (when one has a marathon, the other one has one; and in the regular schedule).

Why would they remove their highest rated show?
They wouldn't be "removing" it. The 4 year contract is almost up...But since Roseanne has done so well through it's entire run, maybe they'll keep it.

I do like Growing Pains...I've been watching it on ion (formerly i) though the quality isn't the best there...it always has a slightly soft fuzzy look on that channel. So I'll be glad to see it with a much sharper picture. The one thing I'm not crazy about is moving The Cosby Show (which I always enjoy) to an even later hour. I guess I always can fall back on my DVDs...

Wow! NAN must really be relying on Growing Pains. If that show bombs, they are going to have a lot of open spaces in schedule, as much as Growing Pains is airing. And back to the highest rated show dillema, if Fresh Prince is highest rated, how come Roseanne is airing way more now? I mean, I like the new schedule; before, Roseanne wasn't airing on weekends, now it's twice, with a mini marathon on Saturday. It just seems like Nick is really fond of Roseanne.

I am not going to like the week long marathon of Growing Pains. I enjoy the show, and own the first season on DVD, but 7 days of it is too much. I think viewers are also going to agree, and we should be seeing ratings go way down the last couple nights.

BUDDING HEARTTHROBS LEONARDO DICAPRIO, BRAD PITT AND KIRK CAMERON IGNITE NICK AT NITE’S GROWING PAINS VALENTINE’S MARATHON FEBRUARY 14 FROM 9PM-6AM

NEW YORK, February 9, 2007 -- Nick at Nite invites viewers to spend Valentine’s night with Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Kirk Cameron, as the budding heartthrobs ignite romance in a Growing Pains marathon featuring nine love-themed episodes, Wednesday, February 14 from 9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., repeating 1:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. (ET/PT).

Stealing hearts and scenes, the young actors, then on the threshold of superstardom, lend appeal to the classic family comedy that helped launch their careers. As the oldest kid in his TV family, series star Cameron emerged as a teen idol while his charming Mike Seaver character likewise left girls breathless. DiCaprio quickly captivated audiences at 16, when he joined the show as Luke Brower, the homeless waif taken in by the Seavers (1991-92). And a very young Brad Pitt turned heads in two late-eighties episodes when he guest-starred as a self-centered rock star and as a dreamy student who catches Carol Seaver’s (Tracey Gold) eye.

Following are details of the Nick at Nite’s Valentine’s marathon (All times ET/PT):

9 p.m. -- "Long Days Journey into Night" -- Carol is used by her friend to win Mike's affection.

9:30 p.m. -- "The Love Song of M.Aaron Seaver" -- The Seavers depend on Mike for the annual bowling tournament against the Koosman family but are let down when Mike "Romeo" Seaver finds his Juliet.

10 p.m. -- "Some Enchanted Evening" -- As Spring Formal looms, Mike has his hands full with three girls pining for his affections and a date to the dance. Meanwhile, Carol can't seem to get a date even when she asks her boyfriend.

10:30 p.m. – “Feet of Clay” – When Ben's idol, rock star Jonathan Keith (Brad Pitt), gives a concert in New York, Maggie manages to get a backstage pass to meet him.

11 p.m. -- "Menage a Luke"-- Cheryl has a crush on Ben, who's only interested in Sasha. Sasha refuses Ben, who is furious to find that Cheryl's transferred her affection to Luke (Leonardo DiCaprio).

11:30 p.m. – “Who's Zoomin' Who” – The road to romance gets a little rocky for Carol and her boyfriend Bobby when her head is turned by a handsome new student Jeff (Brad Pitt).

12 a.m. -- "Stop, Luke and Listen" -- Mike tries to help one of his students, Luke (Leonardo DiCaprio), who's been living in the school basement, but just ends up getting the kid kicked out. His search for Luke makes him miss dinner with Kate and his parents.

12:30 a.m. – “Great Expectations” -- Without his parents' approval, Mike flies to Los Angeles to surprise his Hawaiian girlfriend, Melia while Carol, Ben and his pal Boner cover for him.

1 a.m. -- "Carol's Crush" -- When the son of a family friend visits, Carol becomes enamored of him and learns the meaning of heartache.

Growing Pains will premiere on Nick at Nite with a week-long marathon of nothing but Growing Pains, every night from Monday, February 12 through Sunday, February 18 (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) Subsequently episodes will air Sunday through Thursday back-to-back (9-10 p.m. & 12-1 a.m.) and Fridays & Saturdays (10:30 p.m. & 11 p.m; all times ET/PT).

Growing Pains aired from 1985 to 1992 on ABC and revolves around The Seaver family in Long Island, NY. Jason (Alan Thicke) is a psychiatrist married to Maggie (Joanna Kerns), a former newspaper reporter, and the two head up a family of three kids. Mike (Kirk Cameron) is a bit of a slacker and is constantly up to shenanigans; Carol (Tracey Gold) is the brainy middle child and Ben (Jeremy Miller) is the youngest Seaver who idolizes his older brother, Mike. Maggie’s desire to go back to work prompts Jason to move his practice back home, allowing him to watch the kids. Most of the stories revolve around standard family issues such as bad grades, dating and missed curfews, though over time the series did address serious topics like drunk driving, teen suicide and peer pressure. In 1988, Maggie gave birth to a daughter, Chrissy (Ashley Johnson), and in 1991, the family took in a homeless teenager -- Luke (a young Leonardo DiCaprio). As the series progressed, Mike found himself taking on more responsibility as a teacher and eventually fell in love, Carol began her studies at Columbia University and Ben began to turn into another version of Mike. Much of the series’ success can be attributed to Kirk Cameron’s status as a teen heartthrob, gracing the covers of various magazines in the late 1980s.

You know, its odd that while Fresh Prince is one of NAN's highest rated shows, yet it can't sell well on DVD . . . the fourth season set didn't sell well, so a fifth season may not happen, according to Gord at tvshowsondvd.com

Nick at Nite to Premiere Its First Feature Films - Mega-Hits Crocodile Dundee and Planes, Trains & Automobiles to Air Tuesday, February 20 & 27 Respectively

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 -- Nick at Nite will mark its first feature-film telecasts with the classic 1980s comedy adventures Crocodile Dundee and the acclaimed Planes, Trains & Automobiles starring Steve Martin and John Candy. The two feature films will premiere Tuesday, February 20 & 27 respectively from 9-11 p.m. (ET/PT), and will join the Nick at Nite programming line-up which recently added the popular family comedy series Growing Pains.

Filmed in the Australian Outback and New York City, the 1986 mega-hit Crocodile Dundee, follows infamous rough-and-tumble crocodile hunter, Mick "Crocodile" Dundee (Golden Globe winner Paul Hogan - Best Actor, Motion Picture Musical or Comedy), whose life changes when he meets a story-seeking American reporter Sue Charlton (Linda Kozlowski). He charms her with his grit, saves her from the grasp of a toothy reptile -- and accepts her invitation to visit New York. The adventurer who has "never been anywhere" accompanies Sue to the sophisticated urban jungles of Manhattan where their romance blooms. Enduring the rough streets, he has finally met his match. And Sue gets more than just a story as the "wonder from Down Under" rocks the Big Apple to its core. Paramount Pictures distributed the Australian production.

In the acclaimed 1987 comedy road flick, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, sleek Chicago ad man Neal Page (Steve Martin) and rumpled shower curtain salesman Del Griffith (John Candy) are "oil and water" travelers fated to share an exasperating, multi-mode journey home for Thanksgiving. A sudden snowstorm forces the seatmates' plane to land in Wichita, and Neal finds himself stuck with Del (John Candy), a chatterbox who drives him to distraction with advice, bad jokes and conversation. Unable to find a room in any of the four-star hotels, Neal must accept Del's invitation to share accommodations in a cheapo motel. As fate traps the mismatched pair together, they endure every indignity known to the modern traveler as they try to make their way to Chicago, first by train and then by refrigerator truck. The film was written and directed by John Hughes and is a Paramount Pictures production.

Nick At Nite is Nickelodeon's nighttime programming block that features timeless hit comedies including the Emmy Award-winning series The Cosby Show, the popular family comedies Full House, Growing Pains, and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air as well as Roseanne, one of the most talked about and celebrated sitcoms in television history. Nickelodeon, in its 27th year, is the number- one entertainment brand for kids. It has built a diverse, global business by putting kids first in everything it does. The company includes television programming and production in the United States and around the world, plus consumer products, online, recreation, books, magazines and feature films. Nickelodeon's U.S. television network is seen in almost 92 million households and has been the number-one-rated basic cable network for almost 12 consecutive years. Nickelodeon and all related titles, characters and logos are trademarks of Viacom Inc.

I have a question. Are the minimarathons back! If you look at the NAN schedule on their website, it shows The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince, and Roseanne all have minimarathons next week Monday-Friday. I know about the ones on Friday's and Saturday's of FP and Roseanne, but are they during the week too?

God I sure hope not. I thought there was hope for Nick at Nite when Nickelodeon bought it out, but they're srewing up even worse than before.

It probably didn't do that great, I'm not sure. If it really had bombed, you wouldn't see it 9-10pm still the following week.

It probably did decent, but not stellar, which really sucks. Hopefully it can manage to maintain decent ratings at 9pm

Well, this is a good step forward, but I miss the days when Nick at Nite aired stuff like I Love Lucy and I Dream of Jeannie. I never missed the Summer Block Party when it used to air. :D

I was beginning to enjoy Growing Pains. The only problem I had was the episode choice. It seems like of all the episodes, they could have aired much better episodes. I agree, it probably did decent, but it isn't on that much on NAN. Besides from 9-10 weekdays, it doesn;t get a marathon.

And another thing. Why did they have to bring back the minimarathons? I hated those when the started, and still I hate them now. Because of those, A Different World no longer airs, and MAY and DW only air once a week.
Nickelodeon is really screwing up this lineup

That's too bad they're cutting down on Growing Pains. I'm sure it won't be long until it's on in the middle of the night and off of the 9/930pm airings. I mean, it's only february 17th so I'm sure they'll change the schedule around another few times before we get into March.

This is getting quite annoying. They keep changing it. Here is the schedule I got from them. It differs a bit from RBryanA's schedule (Sundays is wrong on his):

Fridays
10:00PM Growing Pains
10:30PM Growing Pains
11:00PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
11:30PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
12:00AM The Cosby Show
12:30AM The Cosby Show
1:00AM-5:30AM Marathon: Roseanne
5:30AM Full House

Saturdays
10:00PM Growing Pains
10:30PM Growing Pains
11:00PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
11:30PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
12:00AM The Cosby Show
12:30AM The Cosby Show
1:00AM Growing Pains
1:30AM Growing Pains
2:00AM-5:30AM Marathon: Roseanne
5:30AM Full House

Sundays
9:00PM Growing Pains
9:30PM Growing Pains
10:00PM Roseanne
10:30PM Roseanne
11:00PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
11:30PM The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
12:00AM The Cosby Show
12:30AM The Cosby Show
1:00AM Growing Pains
1:30AM Growing Pains
2:00AM-5:30AM The Cosby Show
5:30AM Full House

NOTE: Full House will air also on Nickelodeon Mon-Fri at 8:30PM ET/PT starting Feb. 12, in addition to its Nick at Nite airings of every night at 5:30am.

So, this means 1-5:30am Mon-Fri is the marathon block and Sat-Sun 2-5:30am. Roseanne gets three of those marathons, Fresh Prince two, and Cosby Show two. Now, Mad About You & Designing Women join A Different World in being gone completely.

At least they haven't canned Growing Pains. Guess that's a somewhat good sign? Is it too soon to know how it's doing Pav?

Sorry about that, I fixed my post. Also Full House is not airing Fridays at 8:30PM, Nick is airing SpongeBob. Just to note: it will more than likely never air on Fridays, since Nick likes its own programming more.

I guess this is what you are going to have to deal with for now on since Nickelodeon programs N@N, and this is the way Nick programs its network.

It looks like a different schedule for Friday, March 2nd also according to nickatnite.com:

10-11PM Growing Pains
11-12AM FPoBA
12AM-2AM Cosby
2AM-5:30AM Growing Pains
5:30AM Full House

Why are they changing so much? March hasn't been released yet though, so maybe this was planned?

yeah, nothing like roseanne ad nauseum.

and the schedule changing is really annoying. i was ready to watch growing pains at one last night when lo and behold, an out of order roseanne marathon started.

all of nick at nites shows are out of order, its hard to keep track. a few weeks ago the cosby show was at the season before last, now they went back to season 2-3..weird.

Nick at Nite has to be monitored week-to-week now. This is very crazy. Week of Feb. 26 more changes:

Effective Monday, Feb. 26:
Sun-Thurs, except Tuesday
9:00PM Full House (replaces Growing Pains)

Fri-Sat
10:00PM Full House (replaces Growing Pains)

The schedule effect. Feb. 26 is now Full House/Growing Pains to start each night (Sun-Thurs 9-10pm and Fri-Sat 10-11pm). Roseanne airs 10-11pm Sun-Thurs. Fresh Prince is 11p-12a every night and The Cosby Show is 12-1am every night. And now marathons are 1-5:30am every night. Mon: Roseanne, Tues: Cosby Show, Wed: Fresh Prince, Thurs: Roseanne, Fri: Cosby Show, Sat: Fresh Prince, Sun: Roseanne.
Full House airs 5:30am every day.

Growing Pains only on once a night-that stinks. I've really been enjoying it and it is the only Nick@Nite show that I like. I am unable to watch it at 9:30pm- I was liking it being on in the midnight and/or 1am hours a few nights a week.

I also wish they wouldn't do those overnight marathons...the all night Double Plays made a much better schedule.

I completely agree, but at least Growing Pains is still airing as much as it doesn. And I really donj't mind it. I mean, I enjoy Full Housea nd Growing Pains, so having them back to back is good news. And if you think about it, Full House is leading into Growing Pains, so that could get ratings to go higher.

So, hopefully these will be the last changes for February. But what about March? The post about Growing Pains getting a marathon--is that true?

I think Nick is trying to hard to get viewers to sticxk with them. They are just playing on night to night ratings, which is probably the reason for so many changes.

I'm confused. Nick at Nite aired two ads for Growing Pains weeknights at 9:00. Does this mean it's staying there?

Yeah, they replaced it two days early. That means tonight and tomorrow Full House will start the night followed by an episode of Growing Pains.

Ads are not updated. GP will be 9:30. No one can keep up with these changes. Nickelodeon has made this into a circus.

Growing Pains needs to be more than one episode. And I agree that those marathons stink! The original late night schedule was much better, they should've kept that.
