Pavan, if everything I've been told is to be believed, TJW and Combination Lock are already dead in the water, and won't be sold. Deal is on the backburner due to some host related issues plus fears of overkill, but there's a big push within NBCUniversal to get the show out for Midseason 2007-08 anyway (Sort of similar to how the syndicated Weakest Link debuted in January 2002).

Temptation has already sold to the Fox O&O MyNetworkTV affils in about a dozen-and-a-half key markets, and in other markets FOX affils - particularly those operated by Sinclair, among others - will probably fall in lock-step, given that 20th will be distributing the show (It's production is being handled by FremantleMedia - producers of Family Feud and The Price is Right)

Crosswords, while being handled by an independent studio, *is* a Merv Griffin Production - as such, it's odds of clearing have doubled - because he's Merv friggin Griffin. Merv elected not to go through Sony in order to make more money off the show himself, should it be a success.

There are a few other shows that got added to the for-sale roster in the game show genre at the last second, including "Guess Who?" (produced by a company called Distraction, who did a remarkable pilot for GSN called Casino). TVWeek also reports a show called Laugh Off.

I'll gladly gush more over any of the shows that do get picked up (I'm already glowing over Temptation - which in a previous life time was known as $ale of the Century, one of my favorite game shows).

Why is Tribune handling Family Guy instead of Twentieth Century Fox? Is it part of their deal with Cartoon Network/TBS/Time Warner?

Tribune isn't distributing FG - FOX is. But the Tribune stations will be airing the show in syndication.

Game Shows:
Let's Play Crosswords, now titled "Let's Do Crosswords", has been cleared for the majority of markets in the country.

Temptation's clearance level was 96%, IIRC.

Deal or No Deal is now scheduled for 2008.

The Joker's Wild and Combination Lock (they were separate show, Pav) have been shelved with no plans to air.

This schedule should include something to replace the second Reba airing to reduce overplaying.

On another note, it looks like WPIX is getting a lot of new programming. Does anyone know what new programs WWOR will get?

As for NY, I've read TMZ will air at 6:30pm on Fox 5 WNYW. Also, Let's Do Crosswords has the 4/4:30pm slot on WNBC, with Ellen moving someplace else due to low ratings.

hope that helps a little.

WPIX is going through a serious overhaul! I don't really care since I never watch it anyways. I like TBS the best!
Pavan, I noticed you didn't mention the stations SBTB would be syndicated on. Did you forget or is it still unknown? And why is it only on weekends? It's so successful on TBS that if channels like WGN and WPIX aired it sometime like 2 eastern to 6 would get great ratings.

Temptation - I'm happy that "Sale of the Century" is coming back to the U.S. airwaves for the first time since 1989, but the bad news is that Freemantle, who is known for reviving butchered-up revivals of classic GS's (Card Sharks 2001, Match Game '98, etc.) is distributing the show. So we'll se what happens.

Let's Play Crosswords - Sounds like a good GS to me.

as for the other new syndie shows, I'm too on the bandwagon of saying that they suck!

Greetings!
To answer your question, we will be running Degrassi each weekday
morning at
7am. Our fall schedule is not completely finalized yet, but I can tell
you
that our syndicated shows will be mostly the same, we'll be adding two
new
great gameshows to each weekday lineup and the new CW national prime
time
shows are excellent. Check out www.cwtv.com for more info on the new
and
returning prime time shows. Thanks for watching!

Pavan, I noticed you didn't mention the stations SBTB would be syndicated on. Did you forget or is it still unknown? And why is it only on weekends? It's so successful on TBS that if channels like WGN and WPIX aired it sometime like 2 eastern to 6 would get great ratings.

WLNY-TV-55 in NYC will be adding three new shows this fall:

Law & Order - Criminal Intent
Every crime has a history, and every perpetrator has a story. "Law & Order: Criminal Intent", takes viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes.
Chris Noth as Detective Mike Logan and Vincent D’Onofrio as Detective Robert Goren team up with their partners, Julianne Nicholson as Detective Megan Wheeler and Kathryn Erbe as Detective Alexandra Eames to handle the most serious and complex crimes that New York has to offer.
Tune in and help the Major Case Squad solve New York’s toughest cases weekdays at 2:00pm beginning September 17th on WLNY-TV!

Law & Order - Special Victims Unit
This hard-hitting and emotional series from NBC's "Law & Order" brand chronicles the life and crimes of the Special Victims Unit of the New York Police Department, the elite squad of detectives who investigate sexually based crimes.
Law & Order: SVU follows Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), a seasoned veteran who has seen it all and his partner Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), whose difficult past inspired her to join the force. Their lives and work begin to intertwine as the show delves into the dark side of the New York underworld.
This Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award nominated show keeps viewers on their toes and you can be part of the action every Saturday at 6:00pm beginning September 22nd on WLNY-TV!

Hometime
Hometime is the ultimate do-it-yourself home improvement series. With co-hosts Dean Johnson and Miriam Johnson, along with a regular crew of craftsmen, they aim to help homeowners achieve professional-looking results from their home improvement projects.
Hometime tackles everything from landscaping, painting, and kitchen facelifts to managing new construction and major additions to older houses. They also show viewers how to handle real-life problems on the job site, showing anyone that they can do it themselves!
Informative and always entertaining, Hometime provides all the tools and techniques to make your at-home projects measure up. Airing Sundays at 3:00pm beginning September 9th on WLNY-TV!

6-7pm One on One replacing Girlfriends

Sundays
11:00PM Star Trek

NOTES: There will be obviously some changes week of Sept. 17, as Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Half & Half are not on weekdays yet. JTC, do they launch Sept. 17?
As for weekends, we will probably get Dead Zone and for sure Law & Order: SVU (which will be Sundays 8 & 9pm). Looks like Star Trek is coming from WNBC. Girlfriends seems to have left syndication.

Here is what I think will happen to weekdays with changes on the 17th: 4PM will be Half & Half, which is confirmed, 4:30pm will be One on One. 11pm will be Law & Order: CI, which is confirmed...2nd run Bernie Mac will probably slide to 12am, 2nd run One on One will follow likely at 12:30am or it will be the 2nd Half & Half, 1a will probably be Malcolm then Still Standing at 1:30a. King of the Hill maybe at 2a? What do the WWOR fans think? JTC?

WWOR and WNYW will release week of Sept. 17 next Monday, so I'll know then and will let you all know then. I'll do a blog story next Monday, too.

WWOR and WNYW will release week of Sept. 17 next Monday, so I'll know then and will let you all know then. I'll do a blog story next Monday, too.

Pav, I thought "Baywatch" was going to be on WNYW or WWOR this fall. What happened with that?

Weekends will not change until week of Sept. 17 or 24...they usually don't change until sometimes until early October even. So expect Baywatch then, if it comes at all here in NY.

But Pav, didn't you say in the first post in the thread that "Baywatch" would be a weekday show? Or do the stations have the option of running five back-to-back episodes over the weekend or whatever?

Ideally, I'd take it on the weekends, maybe two or three back-to-back episodes on a Saturday afternoon. That's how I grew up watching it, Saturday afternoons with my parents.

I'll gladly gush more over any of the shows that do get picked up (I'm already glowing over Temptation - which in a previous life time was known as $ale of the Century, one of my favorite game shows).Hey,Seth,I have a question:Since Merv Griffin died this past weekend, are they still going to produce air "Merv Griffin's Crosswords?"Or has that show been shelved?(P.S.:I think it would be nice if they did continue producing it in his honor-after all,as they say,"The Show must go on")

I know, but according to Wikipedia, WDSU's News slogan is Local, Live, Latebreaking. Does WDSU still carry 6 On Your Side Live at 10:35 PM before the Tonight Show with Jay Leno at 11:05 PM? WDSU uses the same customized Hearst TV News Music Package as the other stations and prior to that WDSU used B Package for their newscasts just as KCRA used B Package with their sig and KSBW used Image News.

I don't know that anyone is airing it in Boston. The show is being distributed by Litton Entertainment. I have only heard of it being cleared by KDOC/Los Angeles.

I do not imagine that there was great interest in airing the program anyway; stations do not want to clear an hour of weekday programming for a show whose episodes can be as old as 18 years. I would expect interest in the program if the new weekday strip of the Law & Order show does well. (I think more stations/ownership groups are willing to take a risk with NBC Universal, a successful distributor; than with Litton, which is known for Jack Hanna.

How come I do not see Guiding Light on the schedule
Guiding Light has not aired in Sacramento since the swap of KXTV 10 and KOVR 13's affiliation in 1995. Prior to that, KXTV was CBS and KOVR ABC. The ratings in Sacto for soaps were so low, that KXTV pre-empted Port Charles' timeslot 11 AM/11:30 AM and thus they did not want to air something that would not profit the station. Thus KOVR since their days when they were owned by Sinclair didn't air Guiding Light from 1995-present. It doesn't matter to me since I live right in between two markets, Guiding Light airs over out on KGPE-TV Channel 47 in Fresno, CA so no harm done here.

I was wondering that same Question but If The Cosby Show does expire with Local Station's you can always watch The Cosby Show on TV Land at 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm CT Time
It isn't expiring where I live, it will still air at 4-4:30 AM on KQCA 58 in Sacramento.

Not yet, but they are likely going to remain pretty much the same, especially WABC. WCBS is adding Cold Case on weekends. Not sure yet of what times. I still need to get WLNY-55...though I gave the list of new shows they are adding this fall.

I'm curious about something. "Merv Griffin's Crosswords" is supposed to air as a special preview on NBC on September 8, but it's not listed on any of the TV listings sites that I've gone to. Instead of having the NBC Fall Preview special on at 7:30, followed by "Crosswords," it has a "Most Outrageous" special at 7pm, followed by the Fall Preview special, followed by an episode of "L&O: Criminal Intent." Would anybody have any idea what the deal with that is?

I'm anxious to know when/if any of the two game shows are gonna be on the air in this area. I'm still wondering about the "Baywatch" and "Degrassi" reruns too.

JT

Looking at more listings, I can't really see any major changes on any of the local channels around here. On September 10, WUPL (MyNetworkTV) will bring back "227," airing it at 11am on weekdays, followed by "Gimme a Break!" and "Benson." There's a TBA listed for after "Benson," so who knows what might go there. Probably "Sanford & Son" or "The Jeffersons."

It could be that since your local NBC station won't be airing "Crosswords" that they are pre-empting it. (Why promote a show on your air that's going to be on another station)?

NBC will not air the preview.

(http://buzzerblog.flashgameshows.com/ixnay-on-the-osswordscray-eviewpray/) NBC has put the kibosh on the primetime preview of Merv Griffin’s Crosswords, previously scheduled for Saturday, September 8. Instead, NBC will air an installment of Most Outrageous Moments at 8 PM Eastern and the NBC Fall Preview Special at 8:30 PM Eastern.

COMING SEPTEMBER 9, 2007 the new KSPR-Springfield 33, the lowest rated news cast in recent years, will be going through many changes in the coming weeks. KY3 Inc. and Perkin Media closed thursday on their acquisition of Springfield’s ABC affiliate.
While there are many behind-the-scenes changes, the most apparent changes will be a name change from Springfield 33 to the station’s longtime call letters, KSPR; the changing of the Web site to www.kspr.com from www.springfield33.com; a new logo; a new studio set; new graphics; the addition of husband-and-wife team Joe and Christine Daues as anchors on Sept. 9; the addition of Kevin Lighty from WKYT, the CBS affiliate in Lexington, Ky., as chief meteorologist; and the promotion of Whitney Scott, current sports reporter and anchor, as sports director.

Have any Fort Wayne stations picked up George Lopez and Merv Griffin's Crosswords? I've looked at their schedules through the week of September 17 and if they stick my CBS and ABC station won't be making any changes. I would think they'd make some, maybe the changes start on the week of the 24th. And after this week Family Feud won't be on my FOX station anymore, but I didn't see it listed on any of the other stations.

All the new shows did terrible in their premieres yesterday. Steve Wilkos Show was the leader at a 1.1 rating only. Crosswords and Temptation did terrible.

NBC Universal’s The Steve Wilkos Show turned in the best performance of this fall’s five new first-run strips and two new off-net sitcoms that debuted Monday.

Wilkos was the only first-run show that managed to outperform its lead-in or hold its year-ago time period, averaging a 1.1 rating/4 share in 48 metered markets, according to Nielsen Media Research. That’s up 22% from its average lead-in of a 0.9/3 and even with last year’s time-period average.

Wilkos airs mainly in morning and afternoon slots on The CW, MyNetworkTV and Fox stations. The show did not air in Chicago, its home market, due to a Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball game. Its best market was Charlotte, N.C, market No. 26, where it won its time period on WCCB at 2 p.m. with a 3.3/11, up 120% from its lead-in and a 27% improvement on its year-ago time-period average. In the country’s top market, New York, Wilkos took second on WPIX at noon with a 2.1/9.

Among the new half-hours, Warner Bros.’ celebrity gossip show, TMZ, which airs mainly in access and early and late fringe in 55 metered markets, premiered with a 2/4. That’s down 17% from its 2.4/5 average lead-in and off 9% from its 2.2/4 year-ago time-period average. TMZ’s best market was St. Louis, market No. 21, where it scored a 5.2/10 at 10:30 p.m. on KTVI. In New York, TMZ ended up in fifth place at a 1.9/4 at 6:30 p.m. on WNYW.

Sony’s Judge David Young, the court genre’s first openly gay judge, premiered with a 0.9/3. Young airs in mostly daytime slots in 51 metered markets. The show’s rating was unchanged from its lead-in and down just 10% from its year-ago time-period average. The show performed best in Memphis, Tenn., market No. 44, where it won its time period at 12:30 a.m. on WLMT with a 4.5/11. In New York, it came in fifth at 11 a.m. on WWOR at a 0.9/4.

Program Partners’ Merv Griffin’s Crosswords earned a 1.0/3, down 17% from its 1.2/3 lead-in and down 23% from its year-ago time-period average of 1.3/4. Not surprised. "Crosswords" could be something great and fun, but the way it is now, it is terribly dull and really just dumb. "Temptation" is ridiculous.

They just DO NOT know how to make good game shows anymore. It frustrates me because it's way too easy, the way to fix "Crosswords." Way too easy.

I was shocked that all show's Bommed in The RatingsI was, too.ESPECIALLY with "Temptation",which is a pretty good game show, and has promise.I haven't seen Merv Griffin's Crosswords ,(would like to),but I'll say one thing about the new game shows. They are a darn sight better than those boring, dull(and yes,I know some people LIKE them)courtroom and talk shows .

What's the next show that's show on TBS the most to be purchased by Fox Friends maybe?

There are only 35 Fox-owned stations in the US:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Television_Stations#List_of_Fox_owned-and-operated_stations

Here are the Tribune-owned stations:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribune_Broadcasting#Television_stations

So, if you see your market in the Tribune list and the affiliate airs Raymond...it will probably be on the move to a Fox-owned station, IF you have one in your market. If you don't, then it will likely remain on your Tribune station. For example, Raymond airs on a Tribune owned station in New Orleans, LA, but they do NOT have a Fox-owned station, so it will remain on the Tribune-owned station.

Hope this clears it up.

FOX61 in Hartford CT is a Tribune owned station, but is also a FOX affiliate. Does that mean Raymond would stay on 61?

Pavan

Chris, I don't think Hartford has a Fox "owned" station, so it seems it will remain on your Tribune station.
