Since there's a thread saying sitcoms that have over stayed there time, lets talk abotu sitcoms/show that ended at the right time.

Mama's Family.
Naomi had her baby and the show was over. I'm glad too because having a baby on the show, it just wouldn't have been the same, IMO.

Buffy: The Vampire Slayer.
I didn't catch the series finale, but after 7 years, it was hard to get new vampires for Buffy to slay without it getting boring.

I'll think of more later.

Fresh Prince ended at the right time. They couldn't keep Will Smith any longer, and the series finale ended it the right way.

Seinfeld ended at the right time. I can't even imagine how crazy the show would have been if they added another season.

Frasier ended on a good note too, the characters all evolved so much from the first episodes. But I was kind of sad that Frasier's character wasn't given closure.....

I tend to agree, especially about Frasier. They did a lot in 11 seasons. It was nice to see Frasier and Martin grow close over the years after their tumultuous start and it was nice to see Niles & Daphne end up together (although the way they did it was a train wreck!). :D

Ooh. Have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. I think Mama's Family ended too soon and still had a lot of good years left in it.

One I think that ended at the right time(and I swear it has nothing to do with getting back at you(your username) for choosing Mama's Family;) ) is MASH. I think they did everything they could do. And besides, they were getting too old for being in a war that only lasted two years in reality.

I definitely think The Mary Tyler Moore Show ended perfectly. The last year was one of the best ever, but from what understand, the writers felt they were running out of material and they decided to end things before it got bad. Good move, IMO.

I know a lot of people might disagree, but I also think Murphy Brown ended at the right time. Again, you have a VERY well-written final year, plus all the characters had really grown over the course of the 10 years.

i often wonder what Murphy Brown would have to say about the world today, i'm sure it would be one hella funny show today.

Some might think I'm crazy, but I'm kinda glad that the series Alf ended when it did. Yes, it ended on a cliffhanger, but I heard that if it were picked up for a 5th season, the show would have been all about Alf in the captivity of the government... and the Tanner family would be gone from the series. I don't think I would have liked that 5th season... it wouldn't have been the same without the Tanners, and I think the ratings would have really suffered. I'm guessing some loose ends were tied up with the Project: Alf movie, but I wouldn't know for sure, as I've never seen it in it's entirety. (I'll get the DVD eventually...)
