Okay I know it's very hard to pick only 5 but just to see what ya'll come up with.---If you could only watch 5 episodes out of The Classic 39 which ones would they be & why? *And* one of your least favorite episodes.
Mine are;
1) Head Of The House- I don't care how many times I see it! Seeing them "drunk" is a classic & you couldn't have picked 2 better guys to do it ;). "I feel like I've got a hair in my face."

2) Pardon My Glove- Because Ralph & Ed's faces are priceless when Andre (sp?) says he "likes to get the husband's approval."

3) Brother Ralph- Just typical jealous Ralph & how could you not love that. "If I hear the typewriter stop I'm coming out."

4) Young At Heart- Do I really need to give a reason for this one? :D

5) Unconventional Behavior- Just really enjoy having almost the whole 30minutes with nothing but Ed & Ralph. Perfect team.

Least favorite--- A Dog's Life. I found that one more sad than funny.

In no particular order:

1) "The Sleepwalker" - I just love the feel of this episode, it's so different from the rest of the C39. Plus, it's the first and only time we get to see the Norton's bedroom. Memorable quote: "I didn't call the doctor on account of the bump on your head, I called the doctor on account of the bump IN your head."

2) "Trapped" - Another one that doesn't compare to any other episode. And it just goes to show that Ralph would stop at nothing to protect Alice. Oh, and when he first catches a glimpse of the guy out on the fire escape...priceless!

3) Brother Ralph- Just typical jealous Ralph & how could you not love that. "If I hear the typewriter stop I'm coming out."
^^Couldn't have said it better myself.

4) "A Matter Of Record" - Ralph vs. Alice's mother, need I say more?

5) "Better Living Through TV" - One of the first episodes I recall seeing when I was a kid. Ralph messing up that commercial still makes me laugh to this day.

As for my least favorite, it's pretty hard to choose from so many classic episodes, but I'd have to say "On Stage" is one that I was never really too fond of.

My favs with that one is 1) When Norton starts whining about getting a needle 2)When Ralph passes out-Doctor wakes him up & he says "Step to the rear" LOL, for some reason I find that hysterical.

2) "Trapped" - Another one that doesn't compare to any other episode. And it just goes to show that Ralph would stop at nothing to protect Alice. Oh, and when he first catches a glimpse of the guy out on the fire escape...priceless!
So true! Or how about the way he tells Alice!
"Now look when I tell you I don't want you to get nervous cause there's nothing to get nervous about. There's a couple of guys out after me their gonna kill me." Hehe!
4) "A Matter Of Record" - Ralph vs. Alice's mother, need I say more
This is one of my favorites as well! "She's a blabberrrrmouth!"

(((catches breath))) Okay I'm done :p! Thanks for sharing Bill!

My top five are:

1) "Please Leave The Premises"

2) "Twas The Night Before Christmas"

3) "Trapped"

4) "Young At Heart"

5) "A Dog's Life"

For me, each of these episodes have a unique quality to them. They show a sincere and touching side to each of their characters.

My least favorite episode would be "On Stage".

For some reason, "Mind Your Own Business" has always been at the top of the list of my favorite shows. Are we just ranking the top of the classic 39? I just read the post but I forget -- my memory must be going at the ripe old age of 27!

As to my least favorite, I'd name "Trapped." Easily.

Well this is a tuff one, but if I use scientific figurin, then these are my favorites:

1.Mamma loves Mambo
2.Please leave the Premises
3.Had of The House
4.Unconventional Behavior
5.The Bensonhurst Bomber
6. Tv Or Not Tv
7. The Sleepwalker

I could keep giong, sorry just can't pick 5

I might say Hello Mom for my least favorite, but I'll have to watch it again for the 100th time to confirm.

Oh and By the way, Trapped is also one of my favorites, so I don't see how it could be an "EASY" choice. Maybe it is too serious, but I luv it. It is so funny when Ralph is terrified & he tells Norton and Alice. Now ther's nothing to worry about.

Now there's no need to worry Alice. There's a couple of guys out there and there goin to kill me.

I'm a scared Norton , I'm a scared. There gonna get me.

Aw could just kiss that face lol! Good choices even though you cheated! Hehe just kidding! I know it's tough to pick only 5! I like the part in "Trapped" where the sink makes that gun noise & Ralph thinks he was shot  good stuff!

Well, since most of the regulars already listed their 5 favorite Classic 39 episodes, I figured I'd keep this thread alive by listing my 5 favorite Lost Episodes. I just went with the ones that made me laugh the most, since there's so many to choose from:

1) "Peacemaker" - Probably my favorite Lost Episode out of them all. I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen this episode, but Ralph's reaction to the alarm clock at the end has me on the floor every time.

2) "This Is Your Life" - Gotta love the longer ones that take you on an adventure. Jealous Ralph at his finest! "At LEAST an hour."

3) "Little Man Who Wasn't There" - A riot from beginning to end, calling this a classic would be putting it lightly.

4) "Kramden Vs. Norton" - The title says it all, a classic routine that never gets old. From the notes to eachother to the pool room scene, this one's definitely a keeper.

5) "Boys & Girls Together" - Ralph enters the room, the lights are out and there's candles on the table, "So you forgot to pay the electric bill huh?" :rotflmao: And how could I forget..."You girls tired, you wanna go home?" Brilliant.

Honorable mentions: "Two Men On A Horse," "Stand-In For Murder."

As for my least favorite, I'd have to go with one of the earlier episodes, like "Income Tax," for example.

Okay I still have a lot of these to watch & catch up on so I will have to get back to you but as of now my favs are-
1) "Peacemaker"-- Everything about it! And like Bill said the ending with the alarm clock is hysterical!

2) "Kramden vs Norton"-I love when Alice is trying to play pool! Ralph's remarks are great.

3) "Stand In For Murder"- "These are my boys" Ralph- "Oh lovely family." That whole scene was funny.

---Okay I'll the last 2 spots for when I watch the rest.---

Yeah those two are definitely up there. Volume 16 looks pretty good...I don't have the DVD's, but with "Boys & Girls Together" and "This Is Your Life" on the same disc, you can't go wrong. You should definitely check those out if you haven't already.

If color episodes could be counted, let me offer these (may or may not be necessarily in that order):

1. "The Honeymooners in England" (a.k.a. "The Mod Couple")
2. "Ralph Kramden Presents"
3. "Life Upon the Wicked Stage"
4. "Be It Ever So Humble"
5. "Follow the Boys"

If anyone is still interested in discussing the top five Classic 39, as was the original intention of the thread, I offer my choices:

1: Bensonhurst Bomber - great plot, loads of memorable lines, George Mathews and Leslie Barrett are outstanding in their supporting roles
2: A Matter of Record - the whole episode is a riot, but the scene when Ralph blows up is a candidate for the funniest scene of all Honeymooners eps. Ethel Owen is perfect.
3: Opportunity Knocks But - the situation of Marshall being impressed with Ed and Ed potentially becoming Ralph's boss is just too funny
4: $99000 Answer - a balanced classic, all the elements of a great sitcom are there, tremendous punch line

5(tied): Mind Your Own Business, Alice and the Blonde, Here Comes the Bride, Mamma Loves Mambo (sorry, had to sneak all these in)

[Least favorite: Young Man with a Horn is pretty dull. I also don't particularly like A Woman's Work is Never Done and Please Leave the Premises (I realize this is a favorite with many, but the situation is just too preposterous for me).]

I’d be interested in hearing more top 5 Classic 39 opinions. There are so many other outstanding eps that haven't been mentioned here, such as The Safety Award, The Loudspeaker, The Deciding Vote, The Man from Space - it's hard for me not to include all these in a top list. Maybe someone else has some of these as their favorites.

I forgot to add "Catch a Star" & "Peacemaker"<--that one was funny from beginning to end. I've always liked "Catch A Star" Ralph's response when he meets Art Carney, Nortons "If you ask me Art Carney's the whole show" debate...the best.
I guess for the Lost Episodes it would have to be "your top 20." :)

I like that from funny money too:lol: I don't know why but I nearly die every time he yells out "just a minute my wife's taking a bath in the sink" something like that - just fall apart over that for some reason.

I can accept the sentiment because that's a part of the show but The Adoption is such a downer I feel so bad for Raplphand Alice but especially Ralph:crying:

Yeah that line gets to me everytime I'm glad I'm not the only one who falls apart for that one! He's in such a panic by then and it's such an unexpected line:lol:

Yes it is funny and sweet when he falls for that little girl making it all the sadder when he loses her.Like he said she's a human being you can't just pass her back and fourth:(

The Adoption must have touched a lot of people because I remember reading some where (I think it was in Audrey Meadow's book "Love, Alice" but I'm not certain) that people where writing in telling the Kramdens they "could keep the baby." I thought that was kind of cute but at the same time funny since it's not like it really did happen lol.

BTW, I'm not sure if your new to The Honeymooners board since I've only been here a few months but since I've never seen you post here before I just wanted to say "Welcome!" Good to have some more people around. :)

I'm done with all sets & have tons of new favs so here they are!

1) Letter to the Boss- Funny from start to finish.

2) Suspense- Norton-"How do ya like that she makes you sick too." Ralph thinking Alice is going to murder him...lmao.

3) Dinner Guest- Have to love the way Ralph dances.

4) Norton Moves In- Ralph+Ed+Sleeping together+Ed dropping match into bed= FUNNY!

5)New Year's Eve Party- I love the Dorsey brother's so that was so nice having them perform. Also it felt like you were really at that party which was amazing. I also like the end with the "1954" only the 1 was cut off. I just thought this was one of the best ones & everyone should see it!

6) Alice Plays Cupid- Everything about that one was hilarious! "Your no Humphrey Bogart." "No but she is!"

7) Cottage For Sale- Typical Ralph & Ed getting themselves into trouble.

8) Principle of the Thing- Jack Benny! That made the whole sketch!

9) Glow Worm Cleaning- I made a thread about the reasons I loved this one.

10) The Hypnotist!- Switching characters *Art & Jackie where wonderful at that*, Ralph & Ed trying to hypnotize Alice, Alice putting the note in the box where the money was suppose to be.

11) Two Men On A Horse- Do I really need to explain this one lol!

12) A Promotion- "I caught this one trying to sneak down into a sewer."

13) Boys and Girls Together- The end where the boys are dancing together/falling asleep on each other

14) This is Your Life- I just like this one!

Wow I'm done!

Oh gosh....I was going to include a couple Lost Eps but since it has to be from the 39....here's the 5 I'd pick:

1. A Matter Of Record...funny and touching, a real classic! One of my all-time favorites.
2. A Dog's Life....kinda sad (I wanted to take that puppy home!!)...would've liked to have seen what they did with the dogs Ralph picked up at the dog pound at the end...
3. The Sleepwalker...some fine work by Art Carney here!
4. Alice & The Blonde...seeing Alice dressed up and vamping it up is too funny!
5. The Man From Space....a fave of mine since childhood

Gotta give an Honorable Mention to Young At Heart... I love those lines "Atomic passion!" "Angel cake!" so 50s!!!
