I'm going to order these 2 books but Amazon has no pictures or descriptions about either of them..so I was wondering if anyone that has read them could tell me what they are about. Thanks!

Ed Norton's Secrets To The Meaning Of Life (The Honeymooners) by Peter Crescenti.

Hmm...I didn't even know these books existed until now. I might just have to pick them up myself.

Amazon is wonderful lol! BTW, just as a heads up.. if you order your books from there (both books are only available used) stay away from SallysBooks if you see her selling any. I bought a "Mint Condition" book from her that was anything but!

If you check your local library computer system you might be able to find what library has these books. You can even do it on-line at home if you have a library card. That way you can check out the books before you buy them to see if you like them or not. :)

I didn't realize you already ordered the books so my earlier post doesn't help you too much. :(

Aw that's okay! Your idea was a good one! I went ahead & looked online at my library..just to see if I could find a description & they had nothing which is surprising.

I figure even if these "mystery" books are about stuff I already know etc-They are out of print & written by Peter Crescenti so they might be good just to have. Part of me is hoping there will be stuff in them that I didn't know.

There was a series of Honeymooners books years ago, maybe 15 or so, that included pictures and quotes from the show. It's very possible that these are two of those. I have a couple of them at my parents, but I don't remember which ones. They were funny to read - especially if you ever needed a quote for something! - but informative they ain't.

I say if you can get them at a good decent price and they're in good shape, go for it! You won't learn anything, but you'll have fun reading the books. And you get a nice collectible in the process, too!

Cresenti put out those 2 books several years ago along with another called "Alice Kramden's Guide to Handling a Hard-Headed Husband". It was after the Honeymooners Treasury came out. They are very small books. You can get all 3 of them for under a buck at amazon. See link below:

Nuts. I was hoping there'd be some information in them. All well like you said it's a nice collectible.

Yep that's where I got mine. I paid $10.00 for the two but that's only because I got them new. Still pretty decent prices. I didn't see the "Alice Kramden's Guide to Handling a Hard-Headed Husband" so thanks for the link!

Check out this link below. It was at the bottom of the amazon.com page where you find the "Alice Kramden Guide...." written by Crescenti. Note that it appears to be a legit online retailer, but the Color Honeymooners have not been released in its entirety (obviously bootlegs). Read the description of the show. Have you ever read the instructions that come with something you purchased that was made in China? That's what it sounds like. Also note that the picture on the cover has "Audrey", not "Sheila". I'd be willing to bet if you asked them why, they wouldn't have a clue what you were talking about.

Thanks for posting the link. I checked out the info that's on there and it's very interesting. What do you think? Would it be safe to buy the DVDs?

$200.00 for a bunch of bootlegs? No way. That's way too much. The quality of these shows coming from these people is usually the pits and you'll never get your money back. Besides, they'll probably all be released officially anyway. Go post a message on the trading post if you have anything to trade.

OK! Thanks for your input. I'll save my money for the official releases because I don't have anything to trade with on the trading post.

I have to admit, the artwork looks pretty nice for a bootleg set. It might've fooled me if they had Sheila on the cover instead of Audrey. And wow, who wrote that description? They should be fired immediately...
The Color Honeymooners deals about the story of two couples who wants to have better lives. Kramdens and the Nortons were the two couples in the TV show, living at 328 Chauncey Street, Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York City where their apartment is being located. Ralph Kramdems is a bus driver in the Gotham Bus Company, with her wife Alice Gibson. While Edward Lillywhite Norton, a sewer worker, and his wife, Thelma 'Trixie', live above the Kramdens.

The tip off is at the bottom of the page where it mentions the format as DVD-R. These were probably all recorded off American Life.

I mean, it would be good for people who don't have American Life and are eager to see these episodes, but $200 is ridiculous. You could get all of them from someone on this board for a much more reasonable price. Actually, come to think of it, did American Life ever end up showing all 49 Color Episodes or do they still only have the rights to like 42 of them?

It definitely sounds like it was written by someone living in another country
who has a poor understanding of the Honeymooners.

I believe they just showed the 42.

About that bootleg set. Here's some things that are obvious:

1. No knowledge about the show they are selling. They found some info online about it and tried to condense it in a paragraph.

2. Written by someone who not only has no knowledge of the show, but very little command of the English language. It's as if they picked out a bunch of words from the dictionary, put them in a hat, then picked them out one by one and tried to create a sentence.

3. Only out for the money. We can only hope that they use it to get an education. If you emailed a question about anything in particular, they wouldn't have a clue how to answer it.
