Question about moving and mailing

If I were to send a letter to someone who moved like a weekish ago... would that letter be forwarded to their current address or would it be returned to me? Or are there depending factors? Thanks in advance :)

I'm fairly certain it would depend on whether or not they left a forwarding address at the post office. If they did, you're in the clear 'cause letters and the like get forwarded for a year!
