Headgear anyone?

I got headgear today. Yuck! The good part is I only have to wear it 13-14hrs. a day. And not during the day. Thank goodnes.

Does anyone here have headgear? If so, any pointers??
Oh yeah, mine is the kind that just goes around the back of my neck. And how in the WORLD are you suppose to sleep in it without jobbing it through your neck?! LOL. Of course it wont come a loose but still.

I would have gotten headgear that I would have to had wear during the day...BUT...I m allergic to nickel...and they don't make nickel-free headgear...so I can't wear it. I wouldn't have worn it NEway. I might have to get it to wear at night. ICK...I don't have to wear it if I don't want to though. NEwho...I m not much help to your question so I m gonna shut up now.

Uh nooooo! Things ALWAYS turn out bad for me. I don't have head gear and when I had my braces and I didnt have it then either! God, that REALLY upsets me. To me, headgear is awesome. It kickass. And I could make it even more awesome.

I had headgear when I was in elementary school and I absolutely hated it. You know why? Because the headgear would cause my back teeth to get very, very sore. Man, did it hurt. It was very painful and after a while I quit wearing it.

OUCH! They told me at the orth. that they would get pretty sore but after a while my teeth would get use to it and they wouldn't anymore.

my brother used to have to wear headgear, but he never did, so the otho made him have it for like, 2 years or something. I never had it tho, I only had braces, and now I just have a retainer cuz I got my braces off. Good luck with it though! do you know how long you will have to have it?

The ortho. didn't say. The lady that fixed the headgear and everything said she didn't know cuz he didn't say. But she said the more I wore it the sooner I would get it off. So...

How did it work out? I used to have to wear one when I slept, and it was also the kind that went around the back of the neck. But that wasn't the uncomfortable part. It was the pain of wearing it after the orthodontist had just adjusted it. I can promise you, you'll get used to it. I used to sleep on my face before I got mine, and it didn't take long before I forgot I was even wearing it.

Cool! It worked OKAY. Not too good. Cuz I always sleep on my side or on my face, like you, and it hurts my back teeth, cuz it pulls them or something. I dunno. Maybe I'll get use to it soon. Thanx for replying.
