Guys,

I own the first edition DVD of this landmark film, but decided to watch it on "I." because it's such a gem of a movie! (You really MUST see it uncut to experiance the FULL effect of the film!)

Anyway, what "I" did was kind of amusing. On most of the cuss words when a character's face mouthed them, they silenced the word AND blurred the character's mouth so that you couldn't try to guess what they were saying. Older syndicated versions of the film had profanity dubbed over without the blurring of the mouth.

Some words like "SOB" and "GodDamn" were left intact and in one instance, the F-word squeaked by the censors even though the character's face was not shown. Some scenes were condenced for commercials even though it was a three hour time slot for a film that runs about 2hrs:15 mins uncut.

Do you think the independent networks are cutting more or less content than in the past when compared to commercial broadcasters?

Jack

This should be posted on Chit/Chat movies.

I have it on VHS, and really enjoy watching it. My favorite part is when
they steal the bus and go out on the boat.

I actually didn't like this movie the first time I saw it, but after reading the book, I gained a greater appreciation for it...

But that is weird that they blurred the mouth. I'm not sure I've ever seen that done before.
