Ok me and my buddy are both 31, and we were buying breakfast and I think the 15 year old girl may cut in front of him without being aware of it. So he says to her-"You know you are going to have a bad day for cutting in front of me." Basically he was STRIKING a conversation with a girl who is 15 years younger than us and I feel there is absoulteky no reason for someone our age to talk to a 15 year old girl unless you are saying "excuse me". I don;t think he was aware of how STRANGE He looked. Plus the girl looked like she was enjoying the attention he was giving her because she was SMILING. At first i thought he knew her and when i found out he didn;t I was like-"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?????? Way over the line. Just can;t do things like that. If she cut in front of me then i would have just let it go

So? It's not like he was hitting on her.

How did you find out her age? If your friend asked an obviously teenaged girl how old she was, then I'd wonder about it.

He is too old to have a conversation with a female in highschool. From the look on her face, that made her day

I can look at her and tell she was in between 15 and 17

Oh yeah, telling a girl that she will have a bad day for cutting in front of him was REAL strange................................

You make it sound like your buddy was going to take her home or something!! If you can't talk to underage girls just because of suspision that's kinda f'ed up.

Well I don't really see what the big deal was. Especially if this is all he said to her. And if someone can't talk to another person just because they're under 18 we all have some serious problems.

are 30 year olds and teenagers not allowed to associate with each other? -_- if he was hitting on her, it woulda been different though.

I can kind of see where Solomon is coming from with this. Anytime I see a guy talking in a certain kind of way with a girl who looks underrage, it always looks a little weird to me. I guess that's just one of those hidden prejudices inside of me. As others have said though, it doesn't sound like he met any harm by it. I have a few online friends who are under 18, and I don't think it's weird. As long as the guy didn't go over the line, I guess I really don't see anything wrong with it.

Well someone tell me what in the world can I possibly talk about IN PUBLIC with a highschool girl? Someone young girl was trying to talk to me a month ago as I was going into a pizzas shop and I never responded because I just couldn't figure out what the hell she wanted to say to me-lol

What was she trying to talk to you about?? I'm just curious. And you know, it's not out of the realm that you could actually have something in common with a high schooler. LOL!! You make it sound like it's an impossibility. You're a huge sports fan for one, and I know that when I was in school, many of the girls were also big sports fans. Look at S.O. I see kids and adults sharing common interests here all the time. Aren't you also really big on certain reality tv shows?? Well, I can point out atleast 30 teenagers right here at S.O. who also enjoy them. So, it's really not all that strange for someone who's 31 to share some common interests with someone who's in high school like you're making it out to be.

All that is true but I'm saying when I'm in public as a 31 year old man, There is absolutely no reason for me to talk to a Highschool girl unless I'm saying EXCUSE ME. I'm sure there are highschol girls who like the same things as I do but It's just inappropiate to STRIKE a convo with a girl 16 years younger than me

So, then what you are implying is that the further apart people are in age, they cannot casually talk in friendly terms? And, that is strange? Taking it a stretch....supposedly, a 20-year-old cannot make friendly conversation with a 50-year-old? That's what it sounds like you are implying. People can make friendly convo without it necessarily meaning you are hitting on people. Unless, either party perceives it that way. Generally, it's just generalized convo. Period.

Yes, he does. I know the feeling about overthinking too much where it's easy to miss the fundamentality of a basic concept. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. So I have been told several times.

It looks Different when it's a man in his 30's and the female is in 10th grade

From my perspective, age differences seem to matter more when you're in high school...but age is just a number. I mean, I can see where some may think it strange that your friend would choose to be so relatively social with such a young stranger instead of merely saying something small like excuse me. However, as a high school teacher, I think that like a lot of people don't realize just how bright some of these kids are. It's just harder being a high school teacher to watch where the line is, especially in this day and age. Then again, there are QUITE a few immature kids (even around age 18) that ruin the reputations of others.

Theres nothing wrong with it at all, he was just letting her know nicely that she cut in front of him. There's nothing wrong with that.
And yes you're strange
