HOLLYWOOD - Ben Affleck is relieved he never married ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez and admits their engagement was a mistake.
The ex-couple's high profile relationship ended in 2004, just months after they were due to marry, a wedding that was called off at the last moment.
Affleck insists it was a mistake to propose to his girlfriend of two years.
He says, "I should never have got engaged and never gone down that route. I thought I wanted certain things, but I didn't. I got lost and felt suffocated, miserable and gross.
"Being in the middle of a tabloid frenzy, it became so intense I had to stop and think, 'What am I doing with my life?'
"I had to smile for the cameras, but I was really in turmoil. I was no longer in control of my life and I didn't know which way to turn. I felt like a hamster in a cage. The faster my legs went, the less distance I seemed to travel."

What a classless pig. Unless there's more to this statement, such as "Jen's a great lady" or "We're both better off...it wasn't meant to be", etc, then he just sucks. A true gentleman never says such things about a former love, even more disgusting when said publicly.
They've both moved on and remarried. What's the point, besides to hurt someone...or to get your name in the the papers.

I guess a fool who hasn't had a hit movie in ages will say just about anything to put himself back in the news. Smacks of desperation. Real men don't trash their old girlfriends to the media. Affleck is desperate for attention. I remember he followed Kerry around on the campaign trail in 2004. The Kerrys and Edwards were eating at Wendys and Affleck was standing over the booth, like the idiot that he is. What this moron has said about Lopez is lower than kissing and telling.

Affleck is a jerk. Media Frenzy? What's he talking to the media now for? He's talking now just to be back in the spotlight again. Nobody forced him to do anything. He liked the publicity.

Yeah, seriously, I feel bad for Jennifer.
Wow. It's hard to believe it's been so long since the whole Bennifer phenomemon.
With all the Branjelina, TomKat and Vaughniston hoopla, it's easy to forget the overhyped celebrity couple who started it all.
Ah, the good old days.
Oh and Ben, shut up. You have a beautiful new wife and baby. Don't diss your ex.

I think if Gigli didn't happen, Ben and Jennifer would be married today. I think he is just saying this stuff now, to appease his new wife...which by the way, I don't see lasting a lifetime either.

If he married that person, he wouldn't have made that Superman movie, for which he received rave reviews and there is talk of an Oscar nomination. I don't like the guy anyways, he and Jennifer started their relationship while she was STILL A MARRIED PERSON. I am only glad he saw the light and left that "gross" relationship and found a decent woman with whom he has a baby now. Ben didn't want that publicity that "J" so desperately needs like a fix. It took her THIRD HUSBAND to get her over that.

Hollywoodland crashed and burned at the box office. It only made 15 million.
God forbid someone should get divorced. What's with the Lopez hate Irene? You think you'd be proud. She's the highest paid Latino actress in history. She's talented and beautiful.
If an actor dissing his ex makes your boat float, then whatever.

There are far more latinos in this industry and other areas that make me proud. It's too long of a list, but I can name at least 50 artists, directors, actors/actresses, leaders, politicians, social workers, activists, that I am far more proud of.
I totally dislike people who take marriage lightly, cheat on their spouses, don't know what it means to be in a marriage, materialistic people, etc. etc. etc. I really have a hard time for anyone (famous or not) who thinks that marriage is based on "the moment". It's a life-long committment. I realize that not all marriages remain intact, but at least give it a try for some time before leaving it because "something better came along".
A movie doesn't have to make billions of dollars for an actor to get rave reviews. Ever seen independent movies?

Ben Affleck hasn't had a box office hit in years.
So your Lopez hate is based on her marriages and personal life? Good to know. I'll be sure point that out the next time you praise anyone with a blemish on their personal life.

Good luck on that last statement Janice. I never stated a "blemish", I pointed out in detail what I hate abt her. Had she been married once, hey, no problem. But it is more than that. I think I made it clear.
And so what if Ben hasn't had a hit film in years, what does that have to do with anything? Does that mean he doesn't feel that way abt that relationship? Does that mean he is a liar? I believe he should have just let it go rather than divulge what he felt then abt that relationship. Maybe he was asked abt it and decided to vent. Who knows. He made a wonderful choice in a wife and hopefully they will make it. In this industry it is highly unlikely, but there are many couples in the industry who have made it work.

If he feels that way, that's one thing, but why does he feel the need to say it publicly and just dismiss it?? Be a gentleman, Ben - show a little class.
Then again, he can't act in movies so maybe he's better at "acting out" in public.

It's my opinion and it's no different than if one was judged on their political beliefs, as is done A LOT by people.
I choose to judge her on her personal life. The only two good things I can say abt her is her role in SELENA and she has Leah Remini as her best friend.

You must detest Angelina Jolie with her multiple marriages and husband stealing ways. The list never ends in Hollywood. Katherine Hepburn screwed around with her married boyfriend, Spencer Tracy, for decades. Frank Sinatra left his wife and three kids for Ava Gardner, Paul Newman did the same thing for Joanne Woodward. Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Elizabeth Taylor...the list in Hollywood is endless.
What do political beliefs have to do with this? I don't judge anyone by that unless they say things against the United States...ex, Jane Fonda, Michael Moore, those types.

That point is being made because if the hitless wonder's career was going great, he most likely wouldn't resort to dissing his ex. It's very bad form, and he's probably looking for publicity.
My husband has two ex-wives, and he's never said bad word about them to anyone, only privately to me...and one of them cheated on him.
A gentleman doesn't do that. Obviously you think differently.

You didn't call Affleck a gentleman, but by cheering on his statements, it's clear that his behavior is just a-okay with you. Hey, that's your right. We're all entitled to our opinion. I see it differently.

What he said abt Jho is purely ok with me. He can say whatever he wants abt her. Doesn't mean I like the guy as a person or an actor. She enjoyed the publicity while she was with him, she will just have to endure hearing the negative aspects abt her relationship with him too. He is not the only person in the world, nor the only man to say bad things abt her. And he won't be the last.

Let me see, a handful of people say it sucks. So. I don't like the woman and I could care less abt Ben.
Again, I only LMAO at what he says abt the relationship. I never condone that one kiss and tell, but when it comes to JHO, I say, bring it on. I don't like her and I don't care abt her. That is my feeling. If he was talking abt a dead person that is different. If he is lying abt something in the relationship, just fabricating, etc. I could see it different. But I won't. Bottom line, this is it. I LMAO at what he said abt her because he should have known better than to be with her considering the hype and the media that follows her around. What did he think? That they would live a private life?

By George, you finally got it. I said it several times already that I DIDN'T LIKE HER.  I also said that I didn't care for him. I did state in my previous posts that I don't like KISS AND TELL. How much more clearer did I have to be? It's no secret I hate her. I can see if she was in an abusive relationship or with a man who was a drug user, something along those lines, but she gets married on a whim...THREE TIMES! I feel sorry for someone like Whitney Houston who is with a man who used drugs, cheated on her and took her life down a lane she didn't deserve. Now that is an example of someone who gets my sympathy. That's it. Nuff said on this matter.

Not to add fuel to the fire...
HOLLYWOOD - Jennifer Lopez has sent her ex-fiancé Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner a gift basket to celebrate the birth of their baby daughter.
Daredevil co-stars Affleck and Garner welcomed Violet into the world on Dec. 1, and have been flooded with well wishes from loved ones ever since.
And Lopez, who went on to wed Marc Anthony after splitting from her Gigli co-star Affleck last year, has also stepped in to congratulate the couple.
A pal of Lopez, who has often expressed a desire to become a mother, says, "She'll always have a special place in her heart for Ben."

A while back, I saw Jennifer Lopez being interviewed....I think it was by Diane Sawyer. When asked about Affleck's recent announcement that he and Jennifer Garner were expecting a baby, Lopez's eyes watered up. I just remember her saying, "It's still hard." She went on to say that she was happy for them.
Affleck's the one who ended their engagement, and I know she took it hard. She doesn't deserve to be publicly humiliated a couple of years later. She didn't cheat on him or do anything terrible. Affleck's a dog.
Bottom line is Ben and Jen are two of the most overrated talents in Hollywood, and together they spawned a horrifying trend that we will probably never see the end of: The overexposed celebrity couple.
Brad and Angelina tie up traffic in India, Jen and Vince may or may not break up this week, Tom and Kate fake a birth; it's horrifying!
The only good thing J Lo and Affleck have done in the last 18 months is disappear.

I think this is Affleck's first marriage, but it's his wife Garner's second marriage. So she's got one more to go before she's fair game.

What I want to know, is where this article comes from and who interviewed him. It sounds a little too randomly said. I'm sure under what he was asked and how the interview went, there was a reason why he had said that. I don't blame him for saying those things. That poor guy, I have nothing against J.Lo but that was a terrible time for both of them. The media went crazy.

The article comes from the London media. Apparently, Affleck was in England promoting the European debut of Hollywoodland and he was asked about JLo.
