A good commercial I've been seeing lately is the Sprint PCS commercial. The one where they say the need a back-up for O'Neal and the guy hears the Captain and Tennille. Then they cut to the field and the Captain and Tennille are singing Do that to me one more time. That commercial makes me laugh. Its pretty funny.

It had a new father call his parents and saying the person calling was Mr. "Wehadababdyitsaboy." It was for some phone company. I laughed every time I heard it!

In general, I think stations play WAY too many commercials during commercial breaks...ugh! 5 minutes is going overboard!

This is an observation. Make of it what you will. Out of the replies thus far to this question only one has addressed the question of commercials being "dumb". The others wrote about commercials they liked or thought were funny or clever.

One series of dumb commercials, in my opinion, are the Wall mart commercials. All the cute ecstatic happy employees and patrons...A megaconglomerate attempting to come off as folksy...Dumb, dumb!!

Oh my stars, the most annoying ones to me are the cd commericials. For three whole days, I was singing Feliz Navidad to myself because of the Christmas cd advertisement.

What is more ironic is the only part I knew was when the singer was singing Feliz Navidad. lol CRAZY!

There is this one where this mom and dad are trying to tell there kids the story of The night before christmas and I crack up everytime the dad trys to tell the names of the raindeer my favorite one is when he goes on bliskin and on mittins and my other favorite part is when the mom wishpers to the dad and there's a big bowl of jelly and the dad is like there is no big bowl of jelly. I just love that one

Also there is this commerical for this potty potter it's this green carpet you put infront of your toilet with a hole in it so when you go to the bathroom you can practice your putts, now how stupied is that.

The Jergens commercials ("Love your body") are really really annoying I can't stand those. And then there was this other one..where a little girl is learning her letters... and she's writing them and putting them all over the refrigerator..and then the dad comes in with a cup and hes looking for the water thingy on the fridge but he cant find it cuz of all the papers and the girl's like "it's under the B." that commercial's cute but it gets really annoying.

Here in the St. Louis area there is a liqour store called Dirt Cheap. They're commercial is soooo stupid. There is this guy in a chicken costume and he says, "cheap cheap fun fun" in a real high pitch voice. Then this man says "Yes it is a lot of fun at Dirt Cheap." I didn't analyze, I only observed and commented. Besides, I wanted to hear everyones dumb commercial choices, like the post person asked.

I forgot to add, the Herbal Essence shampoo ditties are deep into the dumb zone.

lol Kitt! I hate those Herbal Essence commericials too. I've used the shampoo, and it doesn't make me squel or scream. I usually turn the channel when that commericial comes on.

I just remembered this one commercial that is really dumb in my opinoin.It starts off with some pasta talking about prego pasta sauce or something like that and get all excited about being eaten!I know that this is just a commercial but shouldn't they be afriad to be eaten?

OMG y'all so do not understnad how much I hate "Steve" and those commercials! My personal hell with the DELL commercials began last Christmas season, when they ran that one where Steve makes a video for his parents saying he wants a DELL for x-mas, and they ran that commercial at every commercial break through all of November and December. The only way I survived was by changing the channel and comforting myself with the fact that they would stop being aired after x-mas....imagine my horror when they started coming out with other ones!! At least they don't run them as often now...

YES!!! I loathe most Wal-Mart commercials, most especially the ones where they put teenagers in the electronics department and try to make it all hip and stuff, and they're all like "come to Wal-Mart and you will get hooked up!" and they're always dancing around and stuff because Wal-Mart is just that cool. The one I really really loathe (and I think this is the one I think is the dumbest) is the one where the guy goes "Looks like a CD, smells like a CD, but guess what? It's a DVD!" WHO THE HELL SMELLS THEIR CDs is what I wanna know! Sheesh!

Another dumb commercial was one back a few years ago for 409, the cleaning product, and it was for 409 Glass and Surface cleaner. It says "Look! This glass cleaner does nothing on this surface! [they show someone trying to whipe the countertop with glass cleaner] And this surface cleaner does nothing on this glass! [they show someone trying to clean glass with a surface cleaner] You need new 409 Glass and Surface cleaner for all your cleaning needs!" [they show someone using 409 Glass and Surface cleaner whiping down the front of the microwave] ...meanwhile, I'm thinking, if the person already has a bottle of surface cleaner, and a bottle of glass cleaner, why don't they just try using the glass cleaner on the glass and the surface cleaner on the surface, instead of the other way around!

I hate the wal-mart comercial.I thought it was just becuase I hate wal-mart.you have no idea how much I hate that place.In fact I'm watching one of their comercials this very moment it has a guy talking about the toys and playing with balls with a bunch of little kids.I really hate those too.

I'm with you Bootsy about Steve. Eddie Haskell was likeable, which is who I think they're trying to impersonate with Steve. Pie in the face is what comes to mind for me when I see that twit on the screen. Or something a little more foul smelling than pie would be even more fun.

I wouldn't call this commercial exactly dumb or stupid, but it certainly made you confused. This commercial only played once. It was during the Super Bowl several years back. I don't remember the whole thing, but it is in black and white and shows all of these skin heads in robes walking in a bunch of single file lines into an auditorium sitting down to watch "Big Brothee" talk. Then all of a sudden, in color here comes this lady running through them all with a few people running behind her to try and stop her. She gets into the auditorium and does the hammer throw and breaks the big TV screen.

The commercial was for the new Apple computer coming out. Who all remember that one?

lol! I kind of like when the Yaffa commericial comes on. Takes a lot of tongue rolling to say it just like the woman on the commericial! lol

I hear ya about the Slim Fast. That is another annoying commericial. If you only have to lose 2 pounds, then you don't have much of a problem. Let's see how the product works if you have to lose a lot more than 2 pounds. Besides those things taste so nasty. I might as well grind chalk into a blender and drink the chalk.

I loathe most Wal-Mart commercials, most especially the ones where they put teenagers in the electronics department and try to make it all hip and stuff, and they're all like "come to Wal-Mart and you will get hooked up!" and they're always dancing around and stuff because Wal-Mart is just that cool. The one I really really loathe (and I think this is the one I think is the dumbest) is the one where the guy goes "Looks like a CD, smells like a CD, but guess what? It's a DVD!" WHO THE HELL SMELLS THEIR CDs is what I wanna know! Sheesh!


LOL this is off topic, but a few years ago in English, we were learning verbals or something...and our teacher kept saying "It ACTS like a verb. It SOUNDS like a verb. But it's NOT A VERB!"...just made me think of that.

I just thought of another one that I really hate.I think I saw this one a couple of months ago with my sister and a commercial for an Nsync barbie came on and because of the fact that i hate Nsuck and Barbie dolls I was just about to kill my television.Luckily I only saw it once but it left me with a horrible memory and I will be scared for life.

I dont know if its still running but in Baltimore there is a pager company called Smart Beep.

One commerical, a woman and her date race to the car. She gets in the car first. Before her date gets in the car, Without looking back she ..well farted.

Her date gets in the drivers seat and asks her is she has met the other couple in the car. They were in the back seat. Of course she had this "stupid" look on her because she farted in front of 2 strangers.

Another Smart beep ad a woman popped her eyes because of Smart Beep's low price.

Steve & Dell Computers: I wonder were do the ad people find these guys? I remember awhile pack the E-Trade ad with the guy xeroxing his own face inviting his boss to a party and showing him how to buy stocks on E-Trade.com . " ...lets light this candle".

Wonder how many have gone broke since? Anyway I wonder if any of these actors end up on regular tv? I know it was more commonplace in the past but what about now?

I remember rading once a story about Dan Cortese when he was doing those Burger King ads years ago. Supposed to have made him a "big star", " the star of the 90s". But as with Tabitha Soren from MTV ( the voice of Generation X ), It didnt.

No one but me EVER saw this commercial, but it was sooooooo funny.

Ok my dad was watching some basketball game and he went to the bathroom. Knowing my dad, he'd smack me if I changed the channel, so I kept it on. There were a bunch of boring commercials until one interesting one came on. A guy was sanding by a nice car... BUT IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY WHEELS!!!! There were big cinder blocks instead of wheels. he announcer dude goes "What if your new set of wheels didn't have any wheels?" The guy continues to inspect the car, making it funnier and funnier (opening the door and the mirror falls off) while the announcer babbles about insurance. At the end, the guy shuts the door and the alarm goes off.

Erm There's a new commercial I hate..it's been on since forever it seems. It's for Matrix Direct and everytime I watch anything on TV Land, N@N, or watching DS it comes on! It's soo nerve racking and I HATE it now. There's also the commercials for Hovercraft or something like that that are really annoying. I really hate the part at the end where a female announcer sings "Now I'm free to see the world"
