I also believe we are not alone and that the government is trying to hide something. I believe the story. That is scary, though.

I agree with Max. We aren't alone. I'm not sure if you've watched Unsolved Mysteries, but I saw a story on there about these women are driving somewhere. They come across this really bright light, they get out to examine it. The next day one of the women has bumps all over her or something. I apologize I can't remember how it ended because it has been so long ago....

I also think that there are aliens in the universe. However, I think this particular story is a bunch of crap, and here's why: (bear with me this may get a bit long!)

"Dr. Reed has been in hiding after disclosing his encounter to certain organizations and close friends. His bank account was drained, his college transcripts erased and his career and credentials obliterated."

Interesting how this is almost the first sentence of the story. Probably because they know that people who would be doubtful, one of the first things they would check would be this man's credentials. Nice of them to set up this conveniently in the beginning for us.

"Jonathan and those who have helped him are still being threatened or hurt. Several of his friends have been murdered. Fearing for their lives, Jonathan and his friend Gary decided to flee. They left Seattle that same day and went in different directions. Since then, Jonathan Reed has been in hiding, living underground with the aid of a loosely knit coalition of friends and informed individuals that he refers to as The Alliance."

"I met Jonathan for the first time at a talk he managed to give in San Diego and decided to do what I could to help him. Jonathan has been able to air his story, three times, on "The Art Bell Show". He has also managed several speaking engagements. The first, lecturing to the San Diego UFO Society and showing his video footage for the first time. I have attended several of the lectures and each time the audience is left staggered and very thoughtful."

Clear contradiction. You cannot live in hiding yet appear on radio talk shows and at conferences. Either you are in hiding or not, clearly, "Dr. Reed" is not in hiding.

"The dog released the creature and backed away. At the same instant, the creature extended a "fleshy pseudopod" around the dog's muzzle and severely wounded her. Suzy's tissues seemed to "flow" into this wound. She was consumed in a matter of seconds. Later, Dr. Reed could find no trace of her except for a fine white powder on the ground."

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT

"It was freezing cold and burned his hand. It was cold to the touch like dry ice. It left a burn on Jonathan’s hand when he touched it."

As anyone who has ever worked with dry ice, or anything that cold knows, anything that cold has vapor emmitted from it. Why doens't this vapor show up in the photos of the "Obilisk"?

"When viewed under a microscope, the black material under the metallic looking shell reveals a cellular structure much like a plant. It seems to be like the material that comprised the creature's suit. This material acts in some ways as though it is alive!"

Really!? In what ways does it act alive? Why would they make a statement like this without quantifying it with evidence. I think this was simply an oversight when they were making up this story.

"The Link may be connected to its user by means of three surgical gold needles passing through the suit, skin and perhaps directly penetrating into some specific nerves in the forearm. At the base of each gold needle is an emerald-like bead containing additional elements."

They took a ton of photos of this thing but not a single one from the back. Why? Why are they no pictures of these gold needles with emerald tips?

"The triangular symbol resembling the Obelisk has been reported to look like a symbol found near the Great Pyramid in the Giza complex. (I have been trying to locate a picture of this symbol but have not yet found it - if any of our readers finds it, please send us information - Web Author)"

Gee that's convienient. The person is obviously trying to tie this into other alien activity since many people believe aliens built the pyramids. However, why would a person who is a UFO enthusiast, who admits to attending many UFO conferences, not be able to get ahold of a picture? If there is anyone who is well connected enough in UFO circles to be able to get their hands on this kind of evidence, it would be someone like our friendly storyteller here.

"Dr. Reed has written a book with his associate, Robert Raith during the intervening few years. The book is finished and they have been attempting to get it published. At least five publishers have agreed to publish the book, only to back out inexplicably at the last moment."

The most blatant contradiction in this web of lies. The book has not been published yet, but there are links where you can buy the book. Additionally, there is no record of what I presume is supposed to be the publishing company, JR-Spectrum, anywhere on the internet, so I am highly speculative about whether or not this book even exists. Worse yet, "Dr. Reed" could be profiting off gullible individuals who think they are buying this book.

"The creature let it be known that humanity and the Earth are the resource that all creatures visiting us are interested in. This astounding revelation was absolutely unexpected and is at the root of the rest of Dr. Reed's odyssey."

Wait! You mean they're visiting Earth because they are interested in Earth? They're visiting humans because they are interested in humans? How shocking! How in the world could that be an astonishing revelation. Did people think they were visiting us because they were interested in our advanced toilet-paper technology? Actually, they must be, since they are interested in all of Earth.

"The video camera began to malfunction and distort when he got too close."

That's awfully convenient.

"The tissue samples were cut from the edges of the wound. The samples were small - say one fifth the size of a pencil eraser."

Pray tell, why are they so small? If one is to believe the photographs, there is a big gaping hole in this things' head. Why not hack at it and take some nice big ol' chunks of tissue? There is absolutely NO reason not too, except of course for the fact that the authors are setting up a convenient out for themselves. That way, if people inquire why further testing wasn't done, or why other kinds of testing wasn't done, they can say that the sample sizes were too small or that they degraded.

"It is more elastic than human skin"

I find it hard to believe they could determine the elasticity of a sample the size of one-fifth of a pencil eraser.

And last but not least:

I'm sorry, but that is paper maché.

As I said I do believe aliens are out there, but I think this particular story is ridiculous. I also think they went way too far out of their way to try to make it sound convincing. You know how people who are lying generally provide too many details? That's the feeling I get from this story.

That's cool about the new planet...I think I already heard about that...I love the Astronomy Picture of the Day website!...I visit it quite frequently.

BTW, I'm not trying to belittle your beliefs or anything, by picking this story apart. In truth, we probably believe most of the same things. I believe there is alien life, and I also believe that our government may be covering a few things up. It's just that I don't believe this particular story, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be true.
