Does anyone have experiences with them? My remote(I think, I haven't proven it's not my RCA DVD Recorder/VCR signal, but that seems so unlikely, it's not quite 2 years old) went over the weekend. I can still control it from the actual machine, but can't do a lot of things and it's been frustrating. Somehow I've made it through 4 days without it. Anyway, Monday, I went and got this remote at Wal-Mart:

http://accessories.rca.com/en-US/modeldetail.html?maincat=Remotes&subcat=Universal+Remote&modelnum=RCR311B

Brought it home, tried to get it to work, it did not. It doesn't have a code search button so it's much harder to do. I still haven't gotten it to control anything.

Tomorrow I'm going back to get a bigger remote(and I'm going to find one with a code search button this time!), does anyone have recommendations?

Yea, I have one for my bedroom TV... a Zenith universal remote from forever ago (I got it sometime in the 1990s), and it works just fine. :)

I found an exact replacement remote... this site is really awesome!

I'm through dealing with these stupid universal remotes, I'm probably going to order it later today.

The first one that you showed is a cheap one. Walmart usually has one that goes for around $20.00 that does have the code search. Most of the time if it's a RCA device and a RCA remote it will work right away without having to search for codes.

I'd grab a Harmony remote. Kind of expensive, but very handy if you have several devices that you need to control. All you do is take the serial numbers off the back of the TV, and you can program the remote by plugging it into your computer and going online, and adding the serials.

My issue is patience.

I followed the steps exactly on it, I went out and got another one today with a code search, followed the steps, it did things it said it would do except WORK! I am tired of it. Before the weekend is over I'm ordering the exact replacement.
