Theatrical releases, made-for-televison, any movie(s) that make you feel good for one reason or another.


NOT WITHOUT MY DAUGHTER (Sally Field, Alfred Molina): This true story is abt an American woman, mother, wife who is married to a doctor originally from Iran. They have a daughter. The story tells us abt Betty Mahmoomy who is held against her will along with their daughter in Iran by her husband and his family. This movie, although terrifying, dark and violent, it makes me feel so damn patriotic and so damn glad I was born here in the United States. The movie shows how women in Iran are treated (mistreated) and so forth. The violence inflicted upon Sally Field's character is horrendous, yet, her eventual escape from Iran with her daughter makes you wanna cheer and clap. The book is definitely more better than the movie, but still, the movie leaves me feeling so proud to be a woman and being American.


THE SANDLOT: A story abt a group of boys who play baseball in the local lot. It just basically reminds me of my childhood growing up and playing baseball. It brings back a lot of memories.

UNITED 93: Words can't convey how this movie makes me feel. It's so powerful and even though we know how it ends, just knowing those group of people did everything they could, if not to save themselves, to save whomever they could on the ground from terrorists. If this movie doesn't make you feel proud to be American, nothing will.

NORTH COUNTRY (Charlize Theron): This movie is abt a woman in the 80's who along with other females, were sexually harassed in the workplace. I like this movie because it shows the worst that can happen to a woman in the workplace, and no matter what, she fought the system and won.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE (James Stewart): What can I say...a man who wants to end it all but finds reasons to live. The movie shows how much your life is worth, to yourself and to others.

I don't know. I really like movies about human bonding and relationships. I really like Steel Magnolias, Stand By Me and The Shawshank Redemption.

Dazed and Confused: It's just a very free-spirited movie with no apparent plot--just some kids trying to get to a party on the first day of summer (set in the 70's). I love this movie :)

Now and Then: Very similar to 'Stand By Me', except it's not as sad and features 4 girls rather than 4 boys as the main characters. It's about 4 very different girls who knew each other as kids and reunite as adults (one is having a baby, so the other three girls want to be there for her). The whole movie flashes back to the 70's when they were friends as kids.

The Little Mermaid: My very favorite childhood movie! I'll never get tired of this!

The Goonies: This movie is like an escape, I swear :lol: Very creative and one of the very best 80's movies.

10 Things I Hate About You: An awesome 90's teen movie! I try to catch it on Comedy Central whenever it's on :)

Mona Lisa Smile: This movie just makes me feel inspired and makes me want to be a better student :lol: I can't really explain it. It's about a professor (played by Julia Roberts) who goes to teach at a very conservative, all-women's college (set in the 1950's) and she sets out to change their way of thinking.

Sixteen Candles-Teen angst movie with Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall, very funny classic movie always makes me laugh.
Grease-All the songs bring a smile.
Footloose-Makes me want to dance hearing all the great songs.
50 First Dates-My favorite Sandler film, also a hilarious movie. Also, Drew Barrymore's best film.

WHAT'S LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT: Ok, a very dark movie abt Tina Turner and domestic violence. But the movie shows that even when her life seemed to be at its worst, she got out of that situation and proved, "I can do this all by myself!" This movie really helped to inspire me to leave my first husband.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off: One of my favorite movies ever. When I used to teach high school, I would have Ferris Bueller Trivia Day where my students could try and stump me with questions and earn extra points on their final exams. I never lost.

Summer School: One of my inspirations for working in public education.

The Goonies: Just a feel-good movie from my childhood that always takes me back to when life was a whole lot less complicated than it is now.

A Christmas Story: I only allow myself to watch this movie between Thanksgiving and New Years. But I watch it as many times as possible during that time.

Poison Ivy: Not the Alicia Siverstone version. I'm talking about the made-for-TV movie with Michael J. Fox and Nancy McKeon. Just a great bit of nastolgia.


And now the top two no-doubters for me (my two favorite movies ever):

The Karate Kid: FEAR DOES NOT EXIST IN THIS DOJO!

Star Wars- as a 10 year old kid, how could that not be the most inspirational movie of all 10 years of my time?

I wanted to be Luke, Han, Ben, anyone good in that film.
Wow, it can still stir up memories.

my feel good movie would be Nottinghill starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.I love the part where Hugh gave up all hope for his love for movie star Julia.Love the line where Julia asks Hugh to love her saying "im 5878 2 4475 78263464 46 37668 63 2 626 275464 446 86 5683 me".

It's a Wonderful Life - No one is a failure. Just makes you a weepy mess, full of hope.

The Shawshank Redemption- justice in its absolute form may exist and it just may be in Zihuatanejo.

The Verdict - you can redeem your soul, and you do have one.

Casablanca - Hope for the world, and the nature of selflessness.

Everytime I see these films, no matter how many times I've seen them, they never fail to affect me. I always get the feeling that goodness and love have gotten the last word, or that the human spirit has battled adversity--and won.
