I know with Summer long gone, the weather can be vastly different for all of us, being that we are in different areas of the country.


I am here in Southern Cali and we are having a hot weekend. We had Santa Ana winds the other day but the very warm effect it brings has remained. Here, it was so very warm and dry, we barbecued in the backyard last night. It still feels like Summer.

Very windy and rainy. From what I can tell from looking out the window anyways. Ill be leaving for work in a couple hours and will have to actually go outside. Im assuming we will be losing power this weekend.

Funny you said that. Yesterday our power went off in the afternoon for almost two hours and then again at 5 pm the power went off. The whole neighborhood was in the dark. I haven't a clue why, but the street lights remained on. That is one main reason for barbecuing. We had no power, besides it was very warm outside, and we have tiki torches to light our backyard.

Yeah, it could definitely be alot worse. I actually really like the cold weather, and prefer it over the hot weather, so it reallly hasn't bothered me all that much. :)

Why do you think you get such a great tax break there, they have to have some way to get people to cope with that insanity. Although -10 here in Van is closer to -30 when you consider it is a wet cold and the cold sticks to you. I much prefer the -30 in Prince George to -10 in Vancouver.

No. My heating bills are cheap actually. Natural gas is produced here in AB, so my heating bill is only $60/month.

And yes. These brutal cold snaps happen 2 or 3 times a year up here. I have to get used to them, I guess if I want to keep a good paycheck. :)

I delt with this weather when I lived in Russia too, so it isn't that don't know how to deal with it. ;)

About an hour away from the coldest air of the season.

For 8 days in a row we were near or above 70 for a high(including today), and it's 69 right now, but it won't be for much longer. Temperatures are expected to plummet 25 degrees behind the front and we won't see 50 during the daytime tomorrow with cold winds out of the north(strong south winds have been blowing all night here). It stays in the 50's this weekend(Upper 20's/Low 30's in the morning), then a reinforcing shot on Monday with temperatures only in the 40's and then some lows possibly as low as 25 Monday and Tuesday Morning(near 50 for highs), then another cooldown in about a week with maybe some precipation. No 60's for at least a week. December is starting off feeling like December!

Normal high is in the low to mid 60's.

I wish it would snow. I am SO jealous reading all these blizzard reports.

Just two weeks ago we had a bad ice storm here in Nebraska our town wasn't hit as bad we did lose power for a day and a half, well we live out in the country and we didn't lose power that long we lost it for like half a day but my boyfriend lives an hour away and his town Holdrege got hit really bad they were out of power for 4 days they had to go to a near by town and stay at a hotel. Actually they still don't have power just generators. They said there actual power won't be fully restored till the summer. So that's what our weather is like.

We have our yearly Strawberry Festival in May and I know the public will be paying higher prices for their crates of strawberries. We are an agriculture community. Our crops are taking a beating from the freeze we are having. So, expect your strawberries, avocados, lemons, oranges, celery, lettuce and other fruits and vegetables to take a hike in prices. The damage is in the billions and it has been the top news item here for days. The farmers, ranchers and field workers are taking a hit real bad.

According to the news, we can expect to be back to warm days, cool nights (instead of freezing) and hopefully many crops can be salvaged. Yep, the warm water spraying is one way the farmers deal with the freeze. Also, wind machines and farm heaters. The fruits and vegetables are very delicate.

Yeah, you were real close to me. Probably went right over my tracks, since I go over that bridge atleast once every 3 weeks, going to my counseling appointments and stuff. You seem to travel quite a bit, so I'm sure we'll get a chance to meet before too long. :D

Anyway, the weather hasn't changed all that much here. Has warmed up a little bit, but not enough to melt the snow or ice any. The snow is now about 5 inches, and it's 34 degrees. Well this week we had another dozy not as bad as it was 2 weeks ago but just yesterday we got 5 inches of snow but atleast we didn't get the freezing rain and ice with it so it wasn't so bad. The road crews were able to get out today and clean up the streets so there drivable. It got up to 23 degrees today not to bad since there wasn't any wind so it was bearable.

That and the high winds made driving horrible, you couldn't see 10 feet in front of you. The big headline in Sunday's paper was "Please stay home." Yeah, they were blowing pretty good beginning in the morning. The high was 83. The winds stopped early in the evening and the temp went down to 69. A little while ago, the winds started again (but mild) and the temp went up to 71 which is what it is now (8:40 PM).

The winds are supposed to be around tomorrow, too, but maybe not widespread so you may not get it over there.

We're having a couple days of 60s before it goes back down to the 40s. It was so nice to see the dirty snow finally melting. Snow is pretty when it first falls, but then it gets all dirty and gross looking after it's plowed and walked on and gets muddy.
