An area of low pressure developing off-shore of the Carolinas will track up along the coast toward Cape Cod tonight into Monday morning. Any deviation in this track will be a shift in our current snow forecast which you can check out at the bottom of our weather page.

Lake effect snow showers and flurries will continue to be one of the themes were tracking over the next 24 hours. The other being the very cold air that has moved into the region. The combination of the cold air and the brisk west to northwesterly wind will produce wind chill readings near or below zero a good part of the day.

Monday, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, will be quiet but very cold as the lake effect snow showers and flurries ease and diminish through out the day. Our next chance of light snow comes in on Tuesday.

It was a crazy week, had a freak brief snow event on Wednesday Afternoon also(that one was not forecast, the Saturday event was).

GOOD QUESTION!

It was winter weather round IVXVIVMXXXII or something like that and it was slick out this evening (around 11:30) and I just frooked up my car's radiator by hitting a frickin' curb lol and now my car is screwed! I went to turn left to go back home (I was 1/2 mile away from my dorm!) and BAM! Couldn't correct my turn since I was in the middle of it and the airbag came out and crap and I was pissed lol! Now I gots to go to a body shop or something tomorrow...haven't an Idea of what to do lol...any suggestions?

First Warning Forecast

The weather pattern has changed quite a bit from earlier in this winter. The trend has been toward fewer intense storms. This will continue for the next five to seven days. What we will see is weak Alberta Clipper systems with limited snow showers and shots of cold air from time to time into the weekend.

Highs will generally be in the 20's through Saturday and lows will be in the single digits and teens.

By the end of the weekend and into next week, the cold air will moderate and highs will be back into the 30's.

A freezing rain advisory is in effect until noon today. As of late morning, the advisory is for all of the counties west of the Hudson River.

A fast moving area of rain will move east across the NewsChannel 13 viewing area this morning. Temperatures will remain in the 20s. This means that the rain will freeze on contact.

While accumulations should be about 0.1 of an inch, it will be enough to render any untreated surfaces very slippery very quickly. Travel difficulties can be expected, especially on bridges and overpasses. Please use extreme caution.

Temperatures will eventually warm up later today, which will eventually melt those slick sidewalks and roads.
