Ok, we had some sun this morning and warm weather. It is now gloomy, cloudy and cold. 60 degrees. Some of the smoke from the nearby Malibu fire was hanging over us, but now that smell is gone.
We had that here in Florida this past summer. The smoke smell was choking! Made a lot of people with respiratory problems have all kinds of trouble, myself included. And for a week every day it was sooo hazy outside and the cars were always covered in ash. Looked like a light snow. Glad that's overwith. I feel for you.

It was worse a month ago when at 2 p.m. we were completely in the dark, it seemed like nighttime because of the several fires that were going on at once. Terrible. Yeah, it seems the only snow we get here is from fire ash. :crazy:

The winds were blowing pretty good in the morning, but died down by mid-afternoon.
They finally died down here by about 10:30 PM.

Someday I should film a really strong Santa Ana wind event and put it on youtube! Sometimes the winds are so strong, it's like a hurricane without the clouds and rain.

Someday also I should buy some type of wind gauge and measure it. From experiencing them at my present location since Oct., 1966, I would say it has hit 70-80 mph at times.

I get scared with this blasted wind because that is how everyone usually gets sick. The germs spread around faster. Also, it hurts my ears when it gets real windy out. My body is aching. Oh, I know that feeling; driving in the rain, especially in Southern California can be dangerous; first, drivers are not cautious when the roads are wet and also the freeways are very slippery. I was slippy and slidding on the 5 last night, and it was not fun!!!
:eek3: Be careful lady, I don't want to hear abt you in an accident on the news!!!!! God, those crazy ass people who think they can just "fly on the freeway" in the rain are stupid. Last week when we drove to San Diego for Sea World, we hit this one spot of fog. Could not see in front of us for sh*t. And wouldn't you know, cars zooming past us like it was daylight. :mad: :crazy:

So many people here are crappy drivers as it is. I was on the 405 yesterday morning, which is crazy on a normal day, but it was a nightmare with the morning traffic and with some lanes partially flooded in certain areas. Well this month has been crazy the first weekend of Dec we had freezing rain not a whole lot just enough to make the roads bad to drive on. Then last week it snowed and we had snowy and icey conditions and today its 34 degrees and the snow and ice on the roads are starting to melt but tomorrow and saturday there's a 20% chance of snow. So I'm thinking this is going to be a long winter I'm ready for spring.

We have had "cold snaps." Very cold night and morning temps, with sunny warm afternoons. The low has been 43 degrees. I know for many of you that is nothing, but for us So. After a mostly dry morning commute, things won't be nearly as nice for your commute home. Snow will develop from the southwest through the early afternoon into the evening. That will make for a slow go...we'll see 1-3" across the Capital District and Berkshires, as well as the Mohawk Valley and the Hudson Valley. 2-4" will fall in the higher elevations of the Catskills, as well as areas from Saratoga north and the Greens. 4+" could fall in the higher elevations of the Adirondacks before things taper off later tonight.

Skies will clear out a bit overnight, with lows falling into the upper 20s.
