Christmas time is probably my favorite time of the year, but I also love Thanksgiving and would like to enjoy it without having Christmas shoved down my throat by advertisers and stores. I've had three brushes with Christmas in the last 24 hours and it's way too early. Last night I went into CVS and they were pushing the Halloween stuff aside to get the Christmas stuff on the shelves. Also I was watching tv last night, or this morning depending on how you look at it!, and there was a commercial for a countdown to Christmas. Finally, I went running this afternoon, ran by the levee and the Christmas lights were out, although not lit up! What happened to celebrating Thanksgiving? I want to see Pilgrims right now and not Santa!

I agree. I love Christmas and the feeling it gives me the whole month of December, but it should be celebrated in DECEMBER, no other time. It would be nice if we could have the Christmas feeling all year round though.

I would like to see some Thanksgiving stuff also. People need to take one holiday at a time.

Shoot, by the time Christmas actually gets here, you're sick of it.

I feel the same way you do, LeslieM14. Prior to Halloween, a store in the Miami area called A Christmas Place was already airing it's commercials. And when I went to Target to get candy for the trick-or-treaters, the store allready had its Christmas items up on display.
It seems like the holiday season comes earlier and earlier every year, and you know what, I hate it. No, I don't dislike Christmas/Chanukkah. It's my favorite time of the year, I just dislike the fact that advertisers have to push the the holidays so early for the sake of making the almighty dollar.
I wish we could go back to the days when holiday decorations went up after Thanksgiving. That's the way it should be.

I love the good Christmas feeling! And I love to watch it snow and I love to listen to Christmas CDs. And decorating the house and going gift shopping. I just love this time of year.

I don't really care for Thanksgiving...I really enjoy Christmas. I mean..I just ordered a Christmas songbook and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (you know, the 'animagic' one...the one with the figures..ugh, its hard to explain). *sigh*..I love Christmas...

I love Christmas! And not just because of the presents. Because of the happy feeling... If it were up to me, our decorations would be up before Halloween. We have MILLIONS... as it is, wee put our lights up today (we don't turn them on until THanksgiving, we just put them up in early November because we don't want to be freezing our butts off in late November). We do the inside of our house over Thanksgiving break. Anyway, in band we've been playing Christmas songs (Getting ready for our December concert, so it makes sense). And at home I've been playing songs out of a Christmas songbook... I don't really enjoy Thanksgiving, because I don't think people really look at it as what it is. To most people it's "Turkey Day." I mean, a lot of people don't look at Christmas the right way, either, but it seems more people look at Christmas the right way than Thanksgiving.

I'm all for getting Christmas items out early, but not this early. I just think it is so crazy to have Christmas items out at the end of October. Atleast wait until the last week or two of November....

Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?
Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.
Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.
Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

You know, I posted a topic much like this about a month ago but somehow, it got of topic. ANYWAY!....I agree. business people don't know how to take one day at a time, they just want to make an early profit.
It is up to us to celebrate Thanksgiving right!
