View Full Version : How are you different?

In what way have you changed since September 10th? I'm sure we all think a little differently now.

I'm more patriotic now than ever before. You know all those songs like the Battle Hymn of the Republic an the National Anthem? Well, I used to hate those songs. Now I love them. I like the American flag more now too. Simply put I have a renewed love for my country, and I am amazed at how little I used to think of my freedoms.

I have a new found respect for President Bush. Though I am not to happy about him attacking Afghanistan, I must admire him for keeping his composure through most of this ordeal.

I know more about Terrorists now than I ever wanted to know. Afghanistan wasn't even in my vocabulary before.

I feel guilty for having so much and taking it for granted so often. Others have much less or nothing, and I complained(and still do)when ever I was asked to mow the lawn!

I also realize more often now than ever that there is a dark side to patriotism. I still can't believe some people are so patriotic that they will attack there fellow Americans just because they look like the enemy.

Thats all I can think of for now.

LOL, Max, we gotta hook up sometime! My shoulder is always available...through cyberspace of course. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

Yeah, I agree with everything you said. I'm way more patriotic and proud to be an American. I've learned a lot more about how really unsafe we are, and how lax security is. We used to think how safe and strong we are, but obviously, we're not as immune to this kind of stuff as we thought. I'm a lot more educated in forgein affairs, our ties with other countries, and our enemies, also.

Great topic by the way. One thing that always frightens me is how everyone keeps saying, "We'll never be the same again." And I agree that we've been shaken, but I think, and hope, that we will be able to rid the earth of these unreasonable and sad people who are proud to be known as terrorists. We shouldn't have to live in fear, and hopefully we won't have to.

Man, I need a shoulder, too, Max! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/crying.gif

Me myself hasn't changed much. I'm more sensitive to others. I think the environment around me has changed the most. Let's face it now, we're in a different era of time. This is the true 21st century.

I don't think I have really changed much either. Not that I wasn't horrified at what happened, but it didn't shatter my world. I never disillusioned myself that America was impregnible, so I wasn't shocked beyond all belief.

I now have a greater respect for my country and its leaders. After seeing the footage of how people in Afghanistan live, I feel extremely blessed to live in Americe. I have become more patriotic, and I have now look at the simplest things a differently.
I do know this much:
I am more proud than ever to be an American!
