Lumpy: Did you go out for anything, Dud?

Dudley: Well, I went out for football, but I got my finger stepped on, so my mother made me quit.

Eddie: Well listen-- I went out for basketball and I got my hair pulled, and my mother made ME quit.

Dudley: It's not that I was afraid of getting hurt or anything; it's just that-- well, it's kind o' hard to play the flute with a busted finger.

hehe I have lots of favorite songs. Most of them are from musicals: Back to Before from Ragtime...On my Own from Les Mis..Why am I me from Shenandoah...OK but this is another one of my favs hehe ok none of you know this song if you do that's really scary:

I want to be a radio DJ,
I want to broadcast on the air,
I've got the voice I've got the talent
And I know I've got the flair.
I'll read the news to you each hour,
And play hit songs just for you!
If I could be a DJ, it would be my dream come true!

I want to be a radio DJ, with my DJ microphone,
I'll give tickets to the concert,
To caller 19 on the phone
I'll run a great big radio contest,
I'll read the sports and weather too!
If I could be a DJ, it would be my dream come true!

When there's a snow storm,
I'll say you don't hafta go to school!
And in the summer,
You can listen to me beside your swimming pool!

When I become a radio DJ,
I will be a superstar,
You will hear me in your kitchen,
You will hear me in your car.
I'll be an overnight sensation, for all the DJ things I'll do!
If I could be a DJ, it would be my dream come true!

Love on the Rocks is an excellet ballad. Another great ballad from The Jazz Singer was "Hello Again."

Neil Diamond has a great voice and had many hits. Other Neil Diamond songs I like include: September Morn, If You Know What I Mean, I am...I Said, Cherry Cherry, Sweet Caroline, Cracklin' Rosie, and Play Me.

You've got excellent taste Dusty, I am a HUGE Neil Diamond fan!

I have always loved those two songs "Love
On The Rocks" and "Hello Again", there is
another song he sings that I just love, I
think it's called "Today" or "America". If I wrote a few verses, could someone
tell me what the song is?
"My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I see, of thee I see,
today".

Excellent Angel, I like that song too! It is from the "Jazz Singer" soundtrack and is called "America." It is certainly a fitting patriotic song for this time of American unity.

The song certainly has added meaning because of recent events, and it is really like an anthem.

Good choice Angel, you were right on the target with this one.

Here are the lyrics to the song:

Far
We've been traveling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream

On the boats and on the planes
They're coming to America
Never looking back again
They're coming to America

Home, don't it seem so far away
Oh, we're traveling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm

Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we'll say our grace
Freedom's light burning warm
Freedom's light burning warm

Everywhere around the world
They're coming to America
Every time that flag's unfurled
They're coming to America

Got a dream to take them there
They're coming to America
Got a dream they've come to share
They're coming to America

They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
They're coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today

My country 'tis of thee
Today
Sweet land of liberty
Today
Of thee I sing
Today
Of thee I sing
Today

Another great song:

Stairway to Heaven

It was a rock masterpiece! The song builds in intesity utill the end. Robert Plant kicks it on the vocals, and the rest of Led Zeppelin rocks the heck out of the song.

Also, the song was about 7 minutes long and was almost always played UNCUT on the radio, which is very unusual for a song of that length that made it on the "pop" charts. Long songs are usually cut down to about 3 minutes!

my fav songs are:

What is Love
Kiss the rain

I love songs like that, early 90's kinda stuff. Have you heard any of these?

Will
09-25-2001, 11:27 PM
Yes Fol and Gi, the first song you are referring to is entitled "Kiss From A Rose"
and was sung by Seal. It is a beautiful song, I like it a lot. It does sound like he is singing the word "bay," but he is acutally singing the word "grey" (I've been kissed by a rose on the grey). The color grey refers to a "greying" tower on the sea (see the lyrics below).

Excellent choice.

Here are the lyrics:

There used to be a greying tower alone on the sea
You, became the light on the dark side of me
Love remains, a drug that's the high and not the pill
But did you know that when it snows
My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?
Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey
Ooh, the more I get of you, the stranger it feels yeah
Now that your rose is in bloom A light hits the gloom on the grey
There is so much a man can tell you So much he can say
You remain my power, my pleasure, my pain Baby, To me, you're like a growing
Addiction that I can't deny Won't you tell me, is that healthy, baby?
But did you know that when it snows My eyes become large
And the light that you shine can't be seen?
(rpt 1)
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
I've been kissed by a rose on the grey
And if I should fall, will it all go away?
(rpt 2, 1)
Yes, I compare you a kiss from a rose...

Will
09-25-2001, 11:46 PM
Fol and Gi, the "What is Love" song was done by Haddaway and was a GREAT dance tune. The chorus went like this:

What is love
Baby don't hurt me
Don't hurt me
no more...

Good choice, Cokies. That's definitely up there on my list. I don't think I could ever pick one favorite song though.

Songs I never tire of though are:
1.) Sympathy for the Devil: Rolling Stones
2.) Seasons of Wither: Aerosmith
3.) Out of Control: 'Stones again
4.) San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair: Scott McKenzie
5.) What it Takes: Aerosmith
6.) What Do You Hear in These Sounds: Dar Williams
7.) Kings and Queens: Aerosmith
8.) Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In: The Fifth Dimension
9.) Enjoy the Silence: Depeche Mode
10.) Dream On: do I really have to say who it's by?
11.) November Rain: Guns N' Roses
12.) White Rabbit: Jefferson Airplane
13.) Paint it Black: umm...the Stones
14.) Don't Speak: No Doubt
15.) Papa Don't Preach: Madonna
16.) I Will Survive: Gloria Gaynor
17.) Big Ten Inch Record: Aerosmith
18.) True Blue: Madonna
19.) Mr. Brownstone: Guns N' Roses
20.) You Spin Me Round (Like a Record): Dead or Alive
21.) How Soon Is Now?: The Smiths
22.) Lord of the Thighs: you can probably guess
23.) Centerfold: J. Geils Band
24.) Sing, Sing, Sing: Benny Goodman Orchestra
25.) Brown Sugar: Stones
26.) Billie Jean: The Gloved One
27.) All Along the Watchtower: Jimi Hendrix
28.) How Do: Mary Chapin Carpenter
29.) This Shirt: see #28.
30.) Rhapsody in Blue: George Gershwin

Sorry to make such a long list. Things just kept popping up into my head. I could never ever pick just one favorite. But all these songs on the list are definitely things that I would stop at on the radio and would most likely crank up and sing along to.

That's why I want to be
a rock star
I want to be the king
I want to be on top, yeah
I just want to be a rock star
Yeah...
now I just want to be famous
I want to be the guy
That everybody wants

I want to be on TV shows
And wear designer clothes
I want a girlfriend who does
not drink beer
I want to drive a fast car
And sleep with certain
movie stars
I want to sing the songs
That all those little people
Want to hear

lol I'm gonna download that song...see how good it really is. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
