View Full Version : Please - no more then 3 new topics per person/board/day
There is no way for me to enforce this rule, but please follow it. There are plenty of topics to discuss, they don't need to be brought up all in one day - save some for a rainy day please.
Can I ask a question - how many people go to the 2nd, 3rd, or beyond pages to read old topics and reply to them?
When there is so many new topics being posted daily everything gets pushed back, and I'm sure there are alot of good topics that some people don't even get a chance to read.

I go back and read them. I think I've replied to a couple of them, but not many because they are usually brought up again.

TJ, I think that the only board that needs rules is the FOL board. The posts flow into that board incontrollably and that's where most of the fights take place. I made a suggestion that everyone slow down there, but all that happened is that I got attacked.

I was making a blanket statement that applied to everybody, I did not single anyone out. Wren, you were warmly welcomed here. You did nothing wrong, I hope you will stay.
There has to be certain guidelines or there would be total chaos here. I did not intend to scare anyone off from posting here, my apologies if anybody thought I singling them out.

I think he just wants to give people more chance on getting to read and respond to more topics. Cause if let's say I posted 30 topics up today, that would push a whole bunch of other good ones back and they would never get read, and then someone else might think of some of the same topics I had posted and we'd have pages of the same topics cause no one saw the original ones...did that make sense? I...think that makes sense... I don't always have ideas for topics anyway so if thats all that is the problem I only post when I get ideas. If you want me to post only three of those at a time then I will be more than happy to do so.

I do occassionally go back 2 or 3 or 4 pages, but usually only if I have been away for like a week.

I kinda wish there could be more than just 3. That's not very many. I have already answered basically everything I want to answer to for now, and there hasn't been much new topics that I want to reply to for several days now. I realize not everyone can come here everyday, but then there's me who can come here many times a day since my cpu's almost always on and I have a cable modem.
Oh well.....guess I'll actually have to do homework now. At least it won't kill me.

After reading down all of this post and replies, it looks as though we might ask TJ to consider redressing the rule and striking a happy medium. What do you all think?
I am back. I understand the 'rules' but I just wasn't aware of them. TJ kindly explained to me why the rules are put in place like this and he warmly welcomed me back.
I don't mind, really that I must only post 3 or less, it is just that on some other message boards members get testy if you bring up old posts so I was confused until TJ explained to me the reasoning.

I'm confused. Is it no more than three posts all day on the board, period? Or no more than three posts for any one person in one day?
It's 3 "new" topics per board per day. You can reply to as many you would like. I'm just concerned that if there are tons and tons of new topics, people more then likely do not go to 2nd or 3rd pages and read and reply to them. It gives more "life" to topics if there are less "active" topics.

I've heard of those other "battle zone" boards. They have all these pointless rules like "no bringing back old topics" and stuff. It causes a lot of riots if I am correct. This board, though it does have it's problems, is so much more friendlier.

It really Doesn't affect me. I don't post that many new topics. I spend most of my time just replying. For the person who said it was a lame rule, you try running a board and moderating it. TJ faces some challenges on the board and he has gotten real ignorant people in the past. So he has to put up with some unpleasant stuff at times. So go easy on the man. You and everyone else have a good one.

I dont think any one person here would have more than 3 topics to post a day. I dont think everyone gets it. Its per PERSON. I cant think of many people who actually post more than three a day. Its not that big of a deal people!
