It has made her OVERRACT and thinking of the WORST. I talked to my mom on Friday and she forgot that I told her I wouldn't be answeing my phone all weekend because of the Jeffersons marathon. So we didn't talk again after Friday until Tuesday and she sent a email saying-"Please call me, I haven't received a response back to the message I left on Saturday" "If i don't hear from you by today, I will have to call 911 so they can go to the APT and see if you are ok"
HUH??-lol I told her the Local TV News is making her say CRAZY THINGS. See by her seeing all this crime stories on the news, she automaticalli thinks something bad happens if I didn't call her in 3 or 4 days. Anyone else think she needs to RELAX??
Your mother was just worried about you man. She may have forgotten about what you told her, but she did what any mother would do. It was just a misunderstanding.

With the different treatments that have been discovered, 130 may be the average life span, though that wouldn't be for hundreds of years.

I know mine did. It's one of the things I miss the most....them caring so much about me. My father actually apologized on his deathbed to me...said he knew he was making everyone sad by being so sick.

My gram overreacts because of stuff she sees on tv. There's a difference between being protective and being overreactive and she's it. My aunt, too, and my mom a bit. It's crazy. They've always been paranoid and they even admit it's due to news stories, particularly kidnappings and such.

Ok here is the deal, I have never ever in my entire life had the privilege to watch 3 full days of non-stop Jeffersons eps. This was the first time in my life that I had a chance to watch my favorite show as part of a marathon so I wanted to enjoy my weekend without talking to her, my female friends, and my male friends. I called her on Friday saying "WELL I will be busy all wekkend with watching the marathon so she must have forgotten" My aunt even told my mom over the weekend when she couldn't get in touch with me that I wasn't answering the phone because of the JEFFERSONS!!!!!!!!!-lol But she still ignored what my aunt was saying and thought something bad happened. My aunt kept telling her-"He will call u after monday because that is when the marathon is over" LOL

Here's the deal, You've seen those episodes hundreds of times (I'm assuming) so you know what's going to happen, it's not like your missing anything. The fact that you put your life on hold for a sitcom seems a little odd to me. And then to top it off, You didn't even talk to your mom. You only get one Mom, you never know what will happen from one day to the next.

The eps shown during the marathon were mostly the ones that are not on DVD. And those eps I haven't seen since the 80's and wanted to get on Tape so i can have them until they are on DVD. So no I have not seen them a hundred times like I have Season 1

Man, you are weird! You put fictional characters before your mother! Look, my mother is overprotective too. But I am not going to turn the ringer and caller ID off because The Jeffersons marathon is on. They will come and go. While your ringer was off, it could have been an emergency. Then, you would have regretted it. You love TV that much?! I love the Jeffersons and the rest of them shows myself. But I don't put it first in my life. Why does your mom have to "want anything" to call her son??? My boyfriend calls me at least three times a week from work just to say, "I love you" or "I'm thinking of you"...I do the same with my sister, I call just to say "What's up?"...

My mom is the same way. A few weeks ago, she had a nightmare that I was out at 2:00 am, and was beaten and killed by a gang. She knows I don't lay down for anyone, and so in the dream, I was fighting and cursing until I finally died, and she couldn't do anything about it. :( She woke up crying, and the next day she told me that she went downstairs and stood by my door for 15 minutes until she heard a noise come from my room, just so she'd know that I was okay.:lol::lol: Personally, I think you should be glad that you have someone in your life that cares that much about you. That is odd. I have a friend who used to do the same thing when ER would come on. I thought that was dumb. Why refuse to talk to someone, esp. family, just so that you can watch a marathon? I understand that you wanted to enjoy it, but you were taping it. I can't believe you went a month without talking to your mom when you were in college. Why would you do that? DOn't you care about her? Don't you want to know how she is? During the time you had the phone turned off something bad could have happened. Even though nothing did, the fact that it could have and you wouldn't have known that is sad. What if something would have happened to your mom and you wouldn't have known because you were watching The Jeffersons? It seems like you cared more about the show than her. No offense.
Well in college I was very busy between friends, my job, studying, classes, partying, and typing papers. So it was very easy to let 3 or 4 weeks go by without calling her
